Restaurant Daily News Sunday, May 21, 2017 4 0 MENU EXPANSION IDEAS FROM LIL' ORBITS Lil' Orbits cooking equipment can open the door to new menu expansion ideas for many restaurants, bars, event venues, food trucks and institutional feeding operations. Current trends that include small plate menus, sharable menu items, bar-centric "munchies," snacks as meal replacements and all-day breakfast serv- ing can be effectively and creatively answered with Lil' Orbits product inno- vations. Lil' Orbits offers automatic donut- making equipment, automatic pancake/crepe making equipment and special mixes. Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Lil' Orbits manufactures all of its products in the United States and sells to customers in over 110 countries. It started nearly 50 years ago with its invention of the mini-donut machine. Mini-donuts are a timeless, popular food item that many customers remember enjoying at festivals, fairs and sporting events – recently or years ago. The very profitable mini-donut concept has proven to be ideal for on- demand serving in any location where impulse food purchases are an impor- tant part of menu choice and profitabil- ity. Today, its model 1200 and 2400 donut machines produce fresh-cooked, hot-to-go donuts in four sizes, all of which can be decorated for today's gourmet and designer donut trend. Output can be adjusted to customer demand during peak serving times. Its donut machines need only a very small space within the typically crowded pro- duction area and Lil' Orbits self-contained downdraft vent systems can eliminate the need for outside venting. The Lil' Orbits Uni- Matic II produces a vari- ety of sizes of pancakes and crepes without frying. Automated, greaseless cooking reduces training and labor costs and ensures repeatable, quality results at any time of day. Pancakes or crepes start from a batter dispenser and are transported automati- cally on heated Teflon belts through the Uni-Matic. Control settings determine the amount of batter dispensed to the belts to regulate pancake or crepe size. Cooking time for pancakes (two sides) and crepes (one side) is gauged accord- ingly. Crepe fillings can be added dur- ing the cooking process and automati- cally wrapped into each crepe. Finished pancakes and crepes are deposited into a receiving tray. The Uni-Matic produces up to 1,800 small, 360 medium or 180 large pancakes per hour, and similar volumes of small, medium and large crepes. It can be operated in the food production area or out in front where customers can enjoy watching the very interesting Uni-Matic cooking process. Lil' Orbits offers a full line of sup- plies, including its own unique donut and crepe mix blends and a wide variety of topping and fillings. HEALTHY BREAD NOW AVAILABLE IN RESTAURANTS Food For Life Baking Co. is located in Corona, California. Since its inception over 50 years ago, it has been serving the health conscious consumer with natural baked goods made from only the finest natural ingredients. Food For Life offers a complete line of Ezekiel 4:9 ® and Genesis 1:29 ® sprouted grain "flourless" breads and many other product lines, such as amazingly nutri- tious sprouted English muffins, tor- tillas, burger buns, cereal, pitas and pasta. Sprouting promotes digestibility and increases nutrition, which makes Food For Life products low glycemic and dia- betic friendly as well. What most people don't know is that every loaf of Food For Life Ezekiel 4:9 and Genesis 1:29 sprouted grain breads are truly made with your health in mind. A Commitment to a Balanced pH Why is a balanced pH so important? Because Food For Life recognizes that a balanced pH is essential for optimum health. This is why Food For Life metic- ulously chooses its ingredients, and refuses to use acidifying agents such as cultured wheat starch, vinegar, calcium propionate and ascorbic acid – all preser- vatives. As an amazing benefit of sprout- ing, grains actually become more alka- line as water and oxygen support the growth of the new plant. While this increase in alkalinity is great for health reasons, helping protect against disease and illness, a higher pH does tend to shorten shelf life. This is the primary reason why Food For Life breads are sold frozen. Yes – to be a truly healthful product, Food For Life strongly believes in pro- tecting the pH level of its sprouted grain breads in favor of a more pH balanced bread. In fact, in many ways, adding acidifying agents such as cultured wheat starch defeats the purpose of sprouting in the first place. Food For Life Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Grain Breads are the pinnacle of nutrition, sprouted to maxi- mize nutrition and digestibility. By adding pure filtered water to certified organic grains, legumes and seeds in its unique sprouting process, Food For Life is able to maximize nutrition and digestibility of Ezekiel 4:9 Breads. This is why many health professionals recom- mend Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Grain breads over other breads made from refined flour. Today's consumers are catching on! It's loaded with both types of fiber soluble and insoluble fiber! Yes, it's true, there are two types of fiber: solu- ble and insoluble. To make this more understandable, the soluble type of fiber is digested into the blood stream and cleans inside the body at the cellu- lar level, while the insoluble type of fiber primarily stays in the gastroin- testinal tract and helps provide the bulk keeping you feeling full and preventing binging, while increasing the transit speed of food through your body. Both are incredibly important to sound health and Ezekiel 4:9 breads have both types of fiber for optimum nutri- tion. Aren't all breads just carbs? No, Food For Life Ezekiel 4:9 breads are a similar protein to what you put on the sandwich. Ezekiel 4:9 bread is a complete protein, containing all nine essential amino acids. Plus, there are 18 amino acids present in this unique loaf, making it a remarkable source of plant protein, and not just an empty calorie carbohydrate source. To continue Food For Life's com- mitment to its customers, Food For Life Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Grain Breads always contain 100 percent organic ingredients. With just one bite, you'll know it's a Food For Life! Your body and taste buds will know the difference! Please check with your foodservice distributor for lower cost restaurant pack options.
