C o n s u m e r E l e c t ro n i c s D a i l y N e ws W e d n e s d a y, J a n u a r y 7 , 2 0 1 5 1 4 A SURPRISE AWAITS INSIDE THIS USB-A CONNECTOR Convenience and ease of use – that's what a typical consumer is looking for when it comes to digital imaging, smart- phone and tablet accessories. More and more of your daily tasks are being per- formed on a smartphone or a tablet, where a typical port for accessories is a MicroUSB port. Yet most of you still own a PC with the standard USB A ports. How can you use accessories that conve- niently conform to both USB standards? Introducing the world's first 2in1 USB/MicroUSB connector. When the 2in1 connector is used on USB drives, external hard drives, flash media card readers and various cables, all those accessories become usable both on an Android powered portable device, as well as any PC or Macintosh system with regular USB ports. Easily lost and expen- sive adapters and/or extra cables are not needed. Imagine copying work-related and/or entertainment files on to your USB drive from your PC, tak- ing the drive with you on a trip and plugging it directly into your Android powered device to use it on the go – this was the motivation for designing such a connector. The connector supports both USB2.0 and USB3.0 for- mats, and is easily integrated in any USB accessory line. Patented design allows you to quickly switch from a regular USB A male connector to a MicroUSB "hiding" inside. By pushing on a spring-like button located on the top of the accessory device, the sides of the USB-A male connector are released from their fixed position and can be pushed back inside the device to reveal the MicroUSB connector. This advance in USB connec- tor design provides the conven- ience and usability that most con- sumers are looking for and will make any accessory line of prod- ucts much more exciting and pop- ular in the years to come. Come by Desma-Tech, Inc. booth #32014 (LLCC South Hall, 2nd floor) to see how it works for yourself and pick up a sample of the first finished product using this innovative 2in1 USB connector. While a number of email systems are scrambling to close those seemingly never-ending security holes via more and more advanced security settings – such as SMS verification – most users still log into their email account with a password and an OTP code, and in every case their email is still sitting, fair game, unen- crypted, in the cloud. Enter GoldKey Secure Email. Secure GoldKey Secure Email manages authen- tication via a custom USB hardware token for PCs (a GoldKey) or a GoldKey Soft Token downloaded onto a mobile device – plus a PIN that is created by the user. GoldKey never asks for the user's email address and never sends the user's PIN over the Internet. In addition, GoldKey Secure Email never stores copies of email on the device – it's all stored, encrypted, in the cloud. This means that simply removing the GoldKey or Soft-token and signing out makes it impossible to access the data – including all those private messages, pic- tures and personal information. Convenient Not only is GoldKey Mail secure, but it is also has some attractive convenience features. One of those is logging in. Just getting into and out of email accounts can be a hassle, especially if security is the goal. Instead of requiring the email address, password, and text message verification, GoldKey simply requires the user's PIN. Another convenience of GoldKey Mail is its GoldKey Groups. This feature allows users to create different groups – e.g., work, family, friends – and invite candidates to join. This makes it possible for GoldKey Mail users to easily send announcements and messages, or have group discussions with everyone in a given group. Clean One of the surprise features of GoldKey Mail is that it is clean. GoldKey has refrained from using email data for advertising, so GoldKey Mail is com- pletely ad-free. Along these same lines, GoldKey Mail has a unique way of fighting spam. It creates an Inbox that can only be reached by invitation or by another GoldKey secure email account. Uninvited senders find their messages "junked" by GoldKey. GoldKey Mail users can go into their junk folder and retrieve legitimate emails to their Inbox. In the future, emails from these senders go into the secure Inbox, while the real junk never gets through. GoldKey Secure Email has elegantly addressed three significant and much- needed email features: Secure. Convenient. Clean. Learn more about GoldKey Secure Email at booth #20542. While the quality of smartphone images is now competitive with traditional cameras, the image sizes take up a ton of space, forcing users to scramble for more storage. Even when using external stor- age like a cloud service, trans- mission times of large files can be incredibly slow, leaving users frustrated. What's a pho- tographer to do? Cram It Accusoft's new mobile image compres- sion application for Android devices, called Cram, is the solution everyday smartphone photographers need. Cram's imaging scientists developed unbeatable, enterprise-level JPEG compression tech- nology that is used in software across multiple industries. Now this powerful image compression is in Cram and avail- able to smartphone photography profes- sionals and amateurs alike. After looking closely at the prob- lems most smartphone users have, Cram was developed to offer a simple, easy-to- use solution for saving space. Maintaining high-fidelity, the app shrinks pictures by 60 percent or more, resulting in two-thirds more space in storage. Users can skip external media cards that are easily lost and move straight to cloud storage or their personal computers. The dramatically smaller file size also empowers faster transmission times, whether transferring to the cloud, emailing or sharing on social media. Users will worry less about skyrocketing data rates since the smaller files will enable them to send more media within their monthly plan limits. Compression Isn't a Dirty Word For a lot of photography professionals, "compression" has a negative connota- tion attached to it. Haphazard image degradation and pixelated images has left them hesitant to commit to another prod- uct. But Cram's compression technology is unmatched in the industry. It retains the resolution, the full display/print dimensions, and even the quality. Understanding the perception that many people have of compression, Accusoft offers a free version of Cram including 300 free images over the life- time of the app to give users a chance to experience the technology. Skip the stor- age scramble – the solution is right here. Visit Accusoft at booth #26724. For more information, go to www.accusoft.com, email marketing@accusoft.com or call 813-875-7575.
