C o n s u m e r E l e c t ro n i c s D a i l y N e ws W e d n e s d a y, J a n u a r y 7 , 2 0 1 5 1 2 PENPOWER TAKES YOUR CUSTOMER DATA FROM SMART PHONE TO DESKTOP AND BACK This year at the 2015 International CES ® , PenPower is introducing the WorldCard Mobile Phone Kit, a sleek and conven- ient universal app paired with a smart- phone stand for automatically capturing and recognizing contacts from business cards with your smartphone. Turn the stack of business cards you acquired dur- ing a day of rapid-fire business meetings into a digital database, so that tomorrow, when you meet the same prospective client in the departure lounge at the air- port, you have his business card and all the notes you added to it right there on your smart phone. When you return to your office, the information is already there in your customer relations database – you don't have to decipher scribbled notes from a crumpled business card for cues about how to follow up on a poten- tial sale. With Gmail contacts synchroniza- tion, you can keep in touch and manage your contacts on your iPhone, Android phone and your computer, whether that's a PC or a Mac. "The app will immediate- ly recognize all the information on that business card, sort the information, and integrate that information with your iPhone contacts," says William Xu, Vice President of PenPower Inc. "PenPower's business card management solution allows users to easily transfer contact data across different platforms, from smart phone to desktops." "Meanwhile, we have kept pace with the new versions of Outlook, ACT!, Salesforce and Gmail. These are all very pop- ular CRM programs that we've been working with for many years," he continued. "We are the only company working with these suppliers continuously and support all of the newest versions of the software. All of these unique features have distin- guished PenPower's products from their competitors." The WorldCard Mobile Phone Kit comes from a company that's a leading provider in human-machine interface for the past 24 years. Founded in Taiwan in 1991, PenPower is a public company built around a firm belief that technolog- ical innovation should narrow the gap between humans and their machines. "PenPower Inc.'s growth is owed to the successful introduction of new and exclusive products, mainly focusing on business card recognition and hand- writing recognition prod- ucts," Xu said. The company has five product lines in five main categories: business card management, data entry and translation, document management, handwriting applications and voice recognition applications, all for business professionals who depend on their data to help them manage their relationships with their customers and vendors. SOPO: A COMPANION ROBOT FOR HOMES AND SCHOOLS Sopo is a robot designed to entertain your friends and family, educate children, play fun games, help around the house with certain attachments and expand your imagination by creating your own pro- grams. What Can Sopo Do? Sopo can be used for learning, playing games, entertainment, or with the correct attachment, even help around the house. Programs can be downloaded to your devices that will enable Sopo to play along with games you may already have. UNO and Twister are some examples of games that Sopo can play along with. During parties and events, Sopo can be a real helping hand with Sopo's explore program. This enables Sopo to move around autonomously and greet guests while avoiding obstacles. Sopo can be used for more than just entertainment purposes. With attachments like the serving tray and trash- can, Sopo can be a big help for guests. Sopo can dance and play music! Time for bed? Sopo is also a great friend to have around bedtime. With the bedtime stories program for children, Sopo can play some favorite bedtime sto- ries. With the controls at your fingertips, using our app or an app that you create, you can also navigate Sopo to get you a canned beverage from his fridge accesso- ry. Sounds good? What's even better – with the GUI software, it is easy and fun to write your own programs. Great for learning and to see what you can have your Sopo do! Looks, Stability, Usefulness Opobotics has designed Sopo to have a friendly, inviting look. Sopo's patented design enables stability on the canted two wheel system, which is inherently stable, without the need for casters, even when not in motion. Also, the unique design to use attachments gives Sopo the ability to do more than just one task. Some attach- ments include the serving tray, trash can, light bar, disco ball and fridge accessory. More are always being developed and the company is always open to suggestions. Structural Beauty: More Than Skin Deep Sopo stands about 28 inches tall, about 26 inches wide and weighs about 23 lbs. Even a quick look reveals that Sopo is not a toy. An industrial-grade rechargeable battery, fabricated lower steel structure, strong plastic body pan- els, high-torque motors and cast aluminum gear boxes assures structural integrity throughout. Opobotics wanted Sopo to last for years to come! Each wheel is independently driven, giving Sopo the ability to turn on a "dime." The center of gravity is very low, which prevents Sopo from tipping over, even while going up or down a slope. Safety First Safety has also been designed into Sopo. Opobotics gave Sopo's wheels a limited slip. What this means is that although Sopo's wheels grip really well on all types of surfaces, they also allow slip- page to occur if Sopo bumps into some- thing. This will prevent any damage from occurring to the items or to Sopo's drive system. This makes Sopo safe around the house and more importantly, people. Control Sopo with a Computer, Phone or Tablet Sopo is a mobile extension of your wire- less devices. Your wireless device, whether it is your computer, phone or tablet, is Sopo's brain. Sopo interfaces with these devices individually, using Wi-Fi technology with his built in micro- controller. Be Inspiring You don't have to wait on Opobotics for new programs. With the GUI software, it is easy and fun to write your own pro- grams for Sopo. All of the programs you create can be shared, so be inspiring, cre- ate, share and learn! What can you have your Sopo do? Visit Opobotics at booth #72243. FIBARO MOTION SENSOR RECEIVES INNOVATION AWARD The world's smallest motion sensor was selected as a 2015 CES Innovation Award honoree in the Smart Home Product category. The winning product was designed by Fibar Group, a European manufacturer of wireless, intel- ligent home automation systems. The FIBARO Motion Sensor is a wireless, highly advanced, ultra-small device, which doesn't exceed 44 mil- limeters. Designers were inspired by the pupil of a cat's eye and its quick reactions; sensitivity and field of vision are all encompassed in this compact device. The FIBARO Motion Sensor incorporates four practical functions: it detects even the slightest motion, informs the user of the temperature level, informs the user of light intensity and detects any changes in device movement, alarming the user of any attempt at tampering. This product is part of an intuitive and affordable smart home system called FIBARO which is able to control 95 per- cent of all home devices and can be easi- ly managed by saying a few simple words (thanks to remote voice control) or taps on your smartphone or tablet. The CES Innovation Awards is an annual event honoring outstanding design and engineering of consumer technology products in 28 categories. Products that are entered in this presti- gious contest are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial design- ers, engineers and members of the trade media. This year's CES Best of Innovations Award Honorees were once again collected from a range of next- generation technologies, which change the way we live, work and play.
