NIFTY STRENGTHENS COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES WITH CONTINUOUS INNOVATION Nifty Home Products has made a name for itself with continuous innovation in the housewares industry. The company prides itself on solving everyday problems with unique, out of the box solutions, while striving to make life in the home easier. Nifty has achieved this goal again by adding their unique, integrated rolling mechanism onto their top selling K-Cup Storage Drawer. The rolling mechanism has been called a true "game changer" in the world of K-Cup pack Storage. Nifty released their top selling K- Cup pack storage accessory, the K-Cup Drawer, in 2011. With the sleek look and space-saving design, the product has per- formed well above expectations, being the leading K-Cup pack storage accesso- ry on the market. Through Nifty's extensive market research, it discovered one small problem with their product. When consumers got the drawer set up in their home with the brewer on top of it, the upper cabinets would interfere with the opera- tion of the brewer. Most con- sumers that commented on this problem stated that since they loved the item so much, that they would just adapt to the situation and slide the drawer back and forth when they wanted to use it. Nifty saw this as an opportunity to go above and beyond, and design a mechanism to solve this issue. The Integrated Rolling Mechanism was born. The rolling system is a lever that lifts the drawer up and easily rolls forward and back. Once the lever is released, the draw- er locks back into place. Safety is always a concern when developing new items, so Nifty integrated a braking system into the design. If the drawer is pulled off the countertop, the braking mechanism will engage with the counter and stop the drawer from falling to the ground. The rolling mecha- nism is a "game changer" in the world of K-Cup pack storage, as it gives the con- sumer the ability to store the brewer on the back of the counter and eas- ily move forward when they are ready to brew a cup of their favorite coffee. Nifty, as they do with all of their innovations, has filed for and expects to receive a util- ity patent on the Rolling Mechanism. Stop by booth S834 in the South Hall to discover all the great innovations Nifty Home Products has to offer. TIME IS ON YOUR SIDE WITH SOUS VIDE Sous vide is simply a precise temperature control cooking method for home chefs and professionals alike. Food is usually vacuum sealed in a non-reactive pouch and heated in a water bath at a gentle temperature until the desired degree of doneness is achieved. Virtually no other method provides more control, allowing you to consistently deliver exactly the same results, time after time. Sous vide may seem like a new con- cept, but it's been part of our culinary heritage for a long time. Wrapping meat in leaves and burying it in a fire pit to cook "low and slow" to develop out- standing flavors, aroma and texture is just one example of how our collective ancestors may have begun evolving the technique. The principles have remained largely unchanged. Today's sous vide, which simply translates to "under vacuum," allows you to easily apply those same principles to your kitchen, but with the benefits of incredible precision and ease. Economic benefits of sous vide are: reduces shrinkage, increases yield up to 30 percent; makes secondary cuts of meat as tender as more expensive cuts; elimi- nates over-cooking waste; allows pre- cooking and workload balancing; pro- vides perfect portion control; requires minimal training; delivers significant energy savings based on the efficient cooking process and reduced ventilation needs; takes the guesswork out of food safety; and provides flexible options that meet your exact needs and budget. Sous vide also provides culinary ben- efits: extends holding times and maintains exact doneness even for delicate foods; produces moist and tender textures; enhances flavors; comple- ments other cooking meth- ods; and retains nutrients and vibrant colors. Why temperature con- trol? One degree can make the difference between per- fect doneness and over- or under-cooked. Why circulation? Bains-marie and other non-circulated baths heat unevenly, resulting in hot and cold spots. Consequently, cooking results cannot be guaranteed through those methods. PolyScience has eliminated those prob- lems by equipping all of its products with pumps to circulate the water, ensuring uniform temperatures. Why cook in water? Water con- ducts heat much more efficiently than steam or air, providing better tempera- ture control. That thermal conductivity difference can be easily illustrated by warming both a water bath and an oven to an identical 145 degree Fahrenheit /63 degree Celsius. The oven feels comfortable, while the water bath is painfully hot. Why vacuum packaging? The sous vide method relies on wrapping food in non-reactive plastic pouches to cook evenly. In most cases, those pouches are vacuum sealed to pro- vide optimal heat transfer and to keep them submerged in the water bath. Why PolyScience? Trust what the professionals trust. For 50 years, PolyScience has been building a core competency in consistent, precise and cost effective temperature control. Building on that foundation, PolyScience has become the "go to" source for chefs seeking a wide array of precise technical solutions to their kitchen challenges. The offering doesn't stop there. PolyScience also offers home solutions, allowing home cooks to replicate multi-course meals shown on top cooking shows or in up-scale restaurants.
