Aftermarket Daily News 3 9 Tuesday, October 31, 2017 GM's dexos1 Generation 2 Motor Oil Provides Protection for Gasoline Powered Engines Since CAFE standards were implement- ed, automakers have been focused on improving fuel economy without sacri- ficing performance. One of the key trends has been smaller engines equipped with turbochargers. For instance, every Chevrolet Malibu, Equinox and Cruze produced today is powered by a tur- bocharged engine. In fact, half of General Motors' 2018 lineup will offer at least one turbocharged option. As automakers continue to adopt these types of fuel-efficient technologies, engine oil is becoming more important than ever. To address this growing trend, ACDelco, GM's true original equipment maintenance and parts brand, now offers full synthetic 5W-30 motor oil, which is formulated to GM's industry leading sec- ond-generation dexos1 oil specification. GM engineers designed dexos1 generation 2 specifi- cations to meet stringent GM performance standards. The formula boasts improved aeration, oxida- tion and deposit control, which maximizes overall engine performance, helping to reduce wear and tear. These improvements also provide protection for pre-ignition con- cerns. "Motor oils that meet the dexos1 generation 2 specification offer a high level of protection for turbocharged engines," said Don Vogrin, Product Manager of Fluids and Chemicals, ACDelco. "Motor oil is key to maintaining any engine, but those running a turbocharger need to be extra sensitive to what they put in their vehicle." In addition to 5W- 30, ACDelco will be expanding coverage to additional vehi- cles by adding dexos1 Gen2 0W-20 in the near future. ACDelco dexos1 Gen2 5W-30 is available through normal ACDelco dis- tribution channels and GM dealers. For more information, visit AAPEX booth #4609 or go to www.acdelco.com. Berryman Stays True to its Roots By Beau Blankenship, Marketing Director, Berryman Products Since our founding in 1918, Berryman has spent the last 98 years developing products that not only meet the needs of our customers, but exceed them. With over 65 products in our line, we are sure to have the chemical solution for any dirty job. But it wasn't always that way. The history of Berryman Products dates to 1918 when Waldo B. "Pappy" Berryman traded a prize winning stud horse for a patented tire sealing formula that was transferred on December 23, 1919. Located in the back-woods of Lima, Ohio, an old shack was converted to serve as the first manufacturing site for Berryman Products. Pappy started travel- ing across the country in a converted wood panel Graham truck, bartering the Sealex Tire Sealer for meals, fuel and accommodations. Legend has it that when Pappy hit a hot sales area, he would set up production in a rented room, mix his formula in the bathtub, and then fill orders from his truck the next day. As the company grew, so did the product line. Early products like OilZall Valve Oil, Lubrex Super Lubricant and Solvall Tune Up gained localized accept- ance and popularity. Packaged in glass, these products helped lay the groundwork for the quality reputa- tion that Berryman still enjoys today. Then, in 1958, B-12 Chemtool ® was developed as a multi-purpose metal surface clean- ing solvent and soon became Berryman's flagship product. Now, with over 65 different commodities, we are refocusing our efforts on the product that started it all: Tire Sealer. Although it has remained in our product line since the beginning, when we changed focus to the automo- tive aftermarket, tire sealer was not given the attention that it required, which allowed competitors to move in to mar- ket. However, Berryman has continued to maintain a reputation for quality that is recognized not only in the automo- tive industry, but the farm and fleet industry as well. As we near our 100-year anniversary, we feel that our Berryman Tire Seal-R, with its new applicator and packaging, has the potential to reemerge not only in the automotive aftermarket, but in the bicycle, ATV, home and garden, hardware and any other market where inflated tires are used. We invite you to stop by booth #4409 and watch a demonstration of Berryman Tire Seal-R in action! Premier Performance Celebrates Technical Sales Team Lead Jesse Law Jesse Law has been with Premier Performance, an Idaho-based warehouse distributor of aftermarket automotive parts primarily serving the diesel and off- road segments, for over 13 years. In his current role with the company, Law serves as a Cross-Functional Team Lead who manages Premier's Technical Sales team, among a host of other responsibili- ties. "Premier is proud to be an industry leader in technical sales and support," said Bob Barra, the company's new Vice President of Sales & Marketing. "We set the industry standard not just in terms of distribution capabilities, but also in terms of specific product knowledge. Our tech- nical sales team is a key component of our ability to provide top-notch customer service to our customers, and Jesse is responsible for leading that team." Since starting with Premier as a Technical Sales Rep more than 13 years ago, Law has been a consistent leader in the efforts to expand the first-hand prod- uct knowledge of Premier's staff. An auto enthusiast himself who has owned and customized a wide variety of trucks, cars and powersports vehicles, Law can often be found helping other Premier employ- ees with their own prod- uct installations. "Our Test Vehicle Program is very important for get- ting our guys that prod- uct experience. The opportunity to install the products themselves, on their own vehicles, gives us unparalleled product knowledge," said Law. For Jesse and his team, that hands-on experience is invaluable. "It used to be that we'd sell a lot of the same kits all the time," he said. "Now it's different. We carry over 380 product lines, and there's no such thing as a 'regular' call anymore. Our guys might take one call where they help a customer plan out an entire com- petition build, and then have to tackle a completely different issue on their next call." That ability to handle a wide variety of incoming calls has earned Premier a reputation as a leader in the field of customer service, and has simultane- ously earned Law and his team the appreciation of co- workers and customers alike. The company recently launched a new podcast and web content series high- lighting its staff members, Running with the Pack, that started with an in-depth interview with Law. That series is avail- able at the company's website, www .premierwd.com. For more information, visit booth #21641.
