Aftermarket Daily News Friday, November 4, 2016 6 6 PERFORMANCE HEADERS & EXHAUST SYSTEMS FROM PACESETTER PaceSetter Performance Products was started in southern California in 1972 and is one of the industry's oldest, most expe- rienced performance aftermarket suppli- ers. Being around and healthy after 44 years certainly says a lot about the com- pany and its products. PaceSetter has positioned itself as a designer and manufacturer of quality- made, affordably-priced headers, per- formance exhaust systems, premium exhaust tips and performance exhaust components for the performance after- market. Its somewhat vertically-integrat- ed operation is headquartered in sunny Phoenix, Arizona, where in approximate- ly 77,000 square feet of manufacturing, warehouse and office space, the company starts with flat stock and tubing and pro- ceeds to machine its own flanges, bend and fabricate tubing and fabricate and weld its own mufflers to be able to achieve its goals. That means PaceSetter's products are made in the U.S.A. PaceSetter's reputation has always been based on its availability of applica- tions that were not considered "main- stream" or for those nobody else would build. For example, headers and exhaust systems for the British roadsters of the '60s – Triumph TR6, Austin Healy Sprite, MG MGB and Midget, Suzuki's Samurai and many VW and Mazda mod- els, including headers and exhaust for Mazda's groundbreaking RX7 rotary. One of the keys to PaceSetter's growth has been its ability to develop new products and applications. For example, some of the new header appli- cations available for 2016 include 2002-2008 Mini Cooper, C5 and C6 Corvettes and the 2016 Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra. This past year, PaceSetter also introduced a line of long tube headers for GM vehicles fea- turing 1-7/8" diameter primary tubes to supplement its extremely popular lineup with 1-3/4" primaries. All of these recent new products are on display in PaceSetter's booth #22629. PaceSetter's most famous brand, MONZA, was applied to its famous MONZA Premium Exhaust Tips and the MONZA Performance Exhaust Systems for import-brand vehicles and is still strong today. PaceSetter performance headers and exhaust systems are manufactured with 16-gauge steel tubing that is mandrel-bent on computer-controlled benders to ensure consistency of fit, ease of installation and optimized exhaust flow. Each flange is machined from 3/8" thick flange stock and robot-welded for the best seal at the head. Gaskets and all necessary hard- ware, including header bolts where applicable, are included. The outside packaging is double-wall corrugated. Header finishes are a non-high-temp black paint that provides basic protection for the product and the well-known, optional ARMOR*Coat finish, which is a polished metallic-ceramic finish bonded to the metal and rated to 2000 degrees Fahrenheit and available on every header PaceSetter manufactures. ARMOR*Coat won't discolor like paint, chrome or stain- less steel, it reduces under hood tempera- tures, helps the header resist rust and cor- rosion and is guaranteed to not chip, peel or flake for three years. The Thread Wizard is a patent pending bolt cleaning tool designed by master mechanic of 42 years and industry veteran Gary Taylor. The Thread Wizard is a safety-enhancing time saver for auto- motive technicians, auto body repair technicians and backyard mechanics alike, allowing for speedy and complete cleaning of bolt threads on the fly. It's one of those products that once mechan- ics have added it to their toolbox, they wonder how they ever got along without it. A durable and lightweight handle, shaped to be handheld or clamped in a vice, houses a high carbon steel wire wheel that protrudes into size specific holes around the wheel. When a bolt is matched to the appropriate hole and turned through the Thread Wizard with hand or power tools appropriate for the bolt, the wire wheel removes all grime, dirt, surface rust, adhesives and fouling. By utilizing the existing threading of a bolt, the Thread Wizard gives a thorough and efficient cleaning, a marked improvement from traditional methods. The Thread Wizard is shaped to meet the task, not the other way around. With both standard (SAE) and metric sizes, the Thread Wizard is ready to handle the needs of any business or indi- vidual. Say goodbye to solvents, their soak tanks and the hassles of properly storing and disposing of them. No longer will you harm your hands or settle for substandard results, fumbling with a wire brush. Never worry about a bench grinder with a wire wheel grabbing a bolt from your hand again. The Thread Wizard makes those antiquated methods of bolt cleaning obsolete. GolaTTaylor Tools is proud to design, source, manufac- ture and distribute right here in the U.S.A. This allows the company not only to bring jobs to the American economy, but also to produce the highest quality tools possible. Improving shop safety is a key concern for the company and indeed it was a bolt, grabbed and rocketed at the lead inven- tor, that set him on the path to engineer a better solution for bolt cleaning dirty fas- teners. The Thread Wizard will bring safety and speed to your shop, business or garage while saving you money. For more information, go to www.thread wizard.us or call 844.522.4696. KEEP YOUR CARGO DRY WITH THE TUFF TRUCK BAG An interview with Philip Dozier, President, Tuff Truck Bag, Inc. ADN: What is the Tuff Truck Bag? PD: It's an easy to use 100 percent water- proof cargo bag made specifically for a pickup truck bed. The user rolls it up and stows it when they aren't using it so they can still have full use of their truck bed. It only takes a minute to roll out and set up, and it's very easy to load with your luggage or cargo. Zip up, and hit the road. ADN: How did you come up with the Tuff Truck Bag? PD: We live close to the Gulf of Mexico, and during the summer months there is usually rain every afternoon. Being close to the coast, we go to the beach – a lot – and I got tired of placing my luggage into trash bags to keep dry. I called my oldest son, Tim, and asked him if there was a cargo travel bag that fit a truck bed, and he did the research to show that no, there was not. So we got to work designing and inventing the bag. ADN: How long it take to invent? PD: This was back in 2008/2009, so prob- ably about a year. Tim did the digital illus- trations and product designs figuring out how the bag would work and measure in a bed (we wanted it to fit any mid or full size bed), and then we made the first bag out of awning mate- rial. It was pretty heavy. ADN: When did you realize you had a great product? PD: Probably when we really finalized materials and began selling the early bags. We strive to have great customer service, so we would ask our customers about how they felt about the Tuff Truck Bag. We got a lot of input from them, as well as photos and video on them using the bags, but most importantly they would tell us about how much they liked the product. I knew then we had something. The best part has been making this jour- ney with my two sons and family friends. We're very proud of our product, but the journey here has been just as good, maybe better. ADN: You have the patent, correct? PD: Yes, we do have the patent on the product. We received that in October of 2013, and really that's when things start- ed picking up. In 2014, we added a National Sales Manager to our team and saw our largest growth that's continued into 2015. For sales information, call 205.492.5027, email jason@tufftruckbag.com or stop by booth #38173 at the SEMA Show, located in South Hall Upper with trucks, SUVs and off-road vehicles.
