"Abington Reldan Metals is thrilled to have achieved this distinction," said Howard Steinberg, Managing Member of Abington Reldan Metals. "Our mis- sion is to protect and preserve the envi- ronment by reusing, recycling and refin- ing precious metal scrap. We are com- mitted to assuring that our operation makes a positive contribution by upholding the responsible recycling practices established by the e-Stewards Standards for Responsible Recycling & Reuse of Electronics." Abington Reldan Metals pursued e- Stewards certification with the goal of being the most sustainable metal refiner and recycler in the United States. Abington Reldan Metals built a new refinery that opened in 2010, designed to reduce the environmental impacts of the facilities and operations. The state-of- the-art, ISO14001:2004 certified refinery earned LEED Silver certification as des- ignated by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED certifi- cation sets forth strict standards for energy-efficient and environ- mentally responsible workplaces. The process of earning LEED certification is rigorous and requires intense commitment to incorporating sustainability principles and practices into a building. Abington Reldan Metals enlisted Sustainable Solutions Corporation (SSC), of Royersford, Pa., to complete the require- ments for LEED certification. Abington Reldan Metals refinery has been operating and handling precious metal scrap for more than 30 years, turning waste into recoverable, quantifiable assets. Its State-of-the-Art facility is LEED Certified, ISO 14001:2004 certified, zero-discharge, e-Stewards certified, R2 certified and CHWMEG reviewed. The facili- ty's sustainability initiative is to constantly look for ways to improve the environmental impacts. Over 70 percent of the energy used is from renewable energy. All water efficiency efforts have combined to reduce water consump- tion by 43.2 percent compared to standard buildings. Abington Reldan Metals has the capabilities to handle all types of scrap using various methods such as pyrometal- lurgical, hydrometallurgical, mechanical reduction, melting as well as others. HEART RATE MONITOR WRISTBAND The Mio FUSE is the newest device in Mio Global's product lineup and com- bines the features of a heart rate monitor, sports watch, and all-day activity tracker. With a 0.99 correlation to EKG (electro- cardiogram), FUSE enters the market as the most accurate wristband to provide heart rate, step count, distance, speed, pace, and calorie burn. As with other Mio products, FUSE is compatible with smartphones, bike com- puters, GPS watches, and other sport devices. FUSE transmits heart rate data via Bluetooth Smart 4.0 and ANT+. Unlike sports devices tied to a closed manufacturer's infrastructure, Mio FUSE works with third-party apps, giving users complete control over how they can track, store, and review workout data. With the Mio GO app, FUSE users can set their heart rate zones, choose pre- ferred device settings, customize display screens, and automatically sync data. Users can also monitor their progress towards a daily step, distance, or calorie burn goal by checking their stats dis- played on the device itself, or by using Mio GO. "FUSE provides athletes with a complete assessment of daily exertion and recovery," said Liz Dickinson, CEO of Mio Global. "With all day activity tracking and heart rate monitoring you can get a more accurate estimate of how many calories you're burning, how hard you're pushing during workouts, and how your body is responding. It's data that no single device on the market today has been able to provide." FUSE uses an internal accelerometer and a user's personal settings to deter- mine speed, pace, and distance. The at-a- glance digital readout provides the status of the current heart rate zone for quick and effective feedback during workouts. FUSE features Mio Continuous Technology, the award-winning optical heart rate technology found in all Mio Products. The comfortable silicone wrist- band is shock resistant, water resistant to 30m, and designed to endure even the toughest workouts.
