Consumer Electronics Daily News Sunday, January 8, 2017 4 8 ALTIA SYSTEMS LAUNCHES PANACAST 3D VR KIT Altia Systems, a CES 2016 Innovation Awards Honoree and recipient of the 2016 Frost & Sullivan New Product Innovation Award, announced the PanaCast 3D VR Kit at the Intel Capital Global Summit. The PanaCast 3D VR Kit expands the PanaCast ecosystem portfolio, which includes PanaCast 2, the world's first Panoramic-4K plug-and- play USB camera, and the PanaCast VR mode which allows for Panoramic-4K 2D immersive videos. The PanaCast 3D VR kit brings immersive 3D experiences within reach of content creators interested in creat- ing virtual reality (VR)/augmented real- ity (AR)/mixed reality experiences through real-time interaction, rapid pro- totyping and experimentation to get the best possible effect. The fully stitched 3D video is available for instant view- ing through almost all popular 3D play- ers. It can be enjoyed on smartphones with the Google Cardboard head- mounted display (HMD) or other low- cost HMDs, as well as high-end HMDs. On an HMD, the experience resembles what one would see on an immersive, cinematic screen, in 3D and with a portable solution that consumers can take anywhere. The kit enables content creators to easily provide immersive, cinema-like 3D experiences to their audiences. In August, the company announced availability of the VR mode for PanaCast 2 to enable outdoor or live-action 2D immersive content creation; the PanaCast 3D VR kit extends that capability to 3D 4K content creation. Head-mounted dis- plays, one of the fastest growth segments in the technology industry, are expected to have revenues of $21 billion by 2020 according to a Gartner report. Altia Systems aims to help fuel growth in 3D immersive content, by enabling people to create, view and share their experiences from everyday life. The PanaCast 3D VR Kit captures real-time, live action videos with 3840 x 2160 pixels/ frame. By providing fully stitched immersive content in real time, with 4K resolution, with a portable device, the PanaCast 3D VR Kit extends the reach of 3D content to industrial and commercial applications such as news reports, medical applications, education, virtual home and store tours, tourism, entertainment, etc. "PanaCast 3D enables natural depth perception with a responsive system which mimics the human field-of-view. Our eyes provide synchronous visual information to our brain and enable depth perception based on the inter-pupillary separation between our two eyes. In this binocular arrangement, each PanaCast 2 functions as an electronic eye," said Yash Gupta, Director of Engineering for Camera Systems Development at Altia Systems. Creative Videography The ability to preview videos in real time with a 'what you see is what you get' view allows consumers and professionals alike to record and share content with point-and-shoot simplicity. The fully stitched 3D content can be recorded and uploaded immediately without spending time and money on post-production tech- niques and proprietary stitching software. Sharing is made simple as the kit pro- duces videos with live preview support and can be used by any broadcast app - such as Wirecast, Facebook Live or YouTube 360. Aurangzeb Khan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Altia Systems, commented, "People love an immersive experience and when technol- ogy delivers something akin to how we see and experience the world, it's breath- taking and memorable. Consumers like to buy easy-to-use devices that let them produce and share exceptional content. PanaCast 3D enables them to do all this in a simple, familiar way." Pricing and Availability The PanaCast 3D Kit is priced at $2,795 and is available now for early adopters, with general availability in Q1 2017. Altia Systems (getpanacast.com), a ven- ture-backed company based in Cupertino, California, is the creator of the PanaCast camera system and PanaCast Experience real-time interac- tive software-as-a-service. Funded by Intel Capital and other leading investors, Altia Systems' PanaCast products and technology deliv- er industry-first results in real-time, in- device stitching of panoramic video from multi-camera systems, enabling a unique experience in immersive video collabora- tion. PanaCast 2 is the world's first Panoramic-4K Plug-and-Play USB video camera. It delivers a 180-degree wide field of view which replicates the natural human visual perspective. The PanaCast 3D VR Kit is the first system to deliver 180-degree 3D content with full 4K resolution in real-time, with in-device panoramic stitching. For more information, visit get- panacast.com. IT'S A GO FROM IMMOTOR By Alex Nesic, Director of Marketing, Immotor, LLC Immotor is taking aim at solving some pretty considerable challenges facing the world today – namely safe, sustainable, reusable power and smart, efficient per- sonal e-mobility. Immotor is the brain- child of Daniel Huang, former co- Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mophie who pioneered safe, reusable portable power for mobile devices. At the core of Immotor's efforts lies the Immotor Super Battery – a revolu- tionary, customizable power source equipped with a sophisticated program- mable operating system, guaranteeing high performance, intelligence and safe- ty. The Immotor Super Battery is a mod- ular power source that addresses an unmet need for a safer, more reliable and programmable rechargeable battery that is capable of powering personal trans- portation devices and other battery-oper- ated products. Immotor is attempting to redefine the battery industry by giving technology companies access to a safer, more intelligent power solution that bet- ter manages performance, provides meaningful insights into next-gen prod- uct development, and provides the ability to innovate faster, safer and more cost effectively. As a bold proof of concept for the Super Battery, Immotor is launching the Immotor GO – an ultra-portable electric personal vehicle with IoT features on par with luxury vehicles. It syncs to your smartphone, has swappable Super Batteries that can power other devices and will one day autonomously drive itself. Sporting an elegant design that won't compromise your sensibil- ities, it solves the first/last mile commuter problem with style and intelligence. The Immotor team took a popular toy and re-imag- ined it as an intelligent, self-con- tained and highly portable design, making it a discreet companion that embodies the meeting of form and function without sacri- ficing any of the fun and per- formance of the ride. To maxi- mize overall safety, the Super Battery that powers it features accident awareness and remains com- pletely inert unless power is demanded of it by the GO via a "digital handshake," thus eliminating the type of overheating that has plagued other battery powered systems. Immotor will apparently not stop at GO – its vision is not only to position the Super Battery as the standardized power source of the future, but also to provide a range of forward-thinking personal transport devices for users around the world that are beautiful, intelli- gent, green, portable and efficient. As Daniel Huang, Chief Executive Officer of Immotor has said, "We recognize the demand for safe and innovative battery-powered trans- port systems. For some time now, most of the new electric transports are being built using heavy, old batteries – and primarily using existing product designs. With Immotor GO, we wanted to intro- duce something new, especially consider- ing that a majority of trips made in a vehicle are with a single occupant for a short distance. Designed from the ground up and with zero emissions, it makes travel efficient, cheap, environmentally friendly, fun and above all – smart."
