A f t e r m a r k e t D a i l y N e w s T h u r s d a y, N o v e m b e r 5 , 2 0 1 5 4 NITROFILL: IT'S NOT ABOUT NITROGEN; IT'S ABOUT OPPORTUNITY Inflating your customers' tires with nitro- gen provides value, as its inert qualities and resistance to permeation will increase tire life, fuel economy and safe- ty. However, selling it as a standalone service, or based upon these benefits alone, nitrogen isn't going to have much of an impact on your business. However, integrated into a compre- hensive Tire Inflation Maintenance Program, nitrogen becomes the corner- stone of a powerful and effective cus- tomer retention strategy, and hence, a critical component in driving tire and service sales. The enhanced tire life, fuel econo- my, safety and other benefits that nitro- gen inflation provides to your customers are real and an important part of selling them on nitrogen, but the greatest benefit nitrogen offers you is its exclusivity. Your customers can't get it just any- where. Fill your customers' tires with air and they can have them serviced at the local gas station or convenience store, virtually any tire or auto repair shop, or even at home, with any of a million types of do-it- yourself air com- pressors. Fill your customers' tires with nitro- gen, on the other hand, and they are more likely to return to your business whenev- er they need their tire pressure calibrated — which, according to tire and vehicle manufacturers, is monthly. Because a whopping 78 percent of consumers buy their tires, and probably most other repair and maintenance services, from the first car care professional that informs them of the need, you need your customers to return to your business for this simple but frequently required service. A TRUE ORIGINAL: ACDELCO GM OE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM COMPONENTS In addition to prolonging tire life and improving fuel economy, properly inflat- ed tires reduce the risk of potentially dan- gerous tire blowouts, loss of traction and longer stopping distances. Tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) — required on all new vehicles since 2007 — alert drivers when they detect a tire is underin- flated by 25 percent or more below a vehicle's recommended tire pressure. With so much at stake, ACDelco GM OE tire pressure monitoring system components are an ideal solution for your customers' General Motors vehicles. ACDelco TPMS components are designed and built for superior durability, and backed by the vehicle's warranty. Twenty-three SKUs cover 100 percent of the 20 million GM vehicles equipped with a TPMS system, and five SKUs cover 90 percent of GM applications. Unlike many aftermarket "exact fit" or "universal" TPMS sensors, ACDelco components are engineered with the vehicle's tire and control module system, right down to i n d i v i d u a l makes and mod- els. ACDelco TPMS sensors display the correct tire pressure level and illuminate warning lamps at the correct threshold. Many aftermarket providers use radio frequencies that do not perform at OE- specified levels. In addition, ACDelco GM OE three- volt lithium sensor batteries are designed to last up to 10 years, unlike many after- market batteries.
