W i r e l e s s W o r l d 3 3 T h u r s d a y, S e p t e m b e r 1 0 , 2 0 1 5 connectivity gap for fleet and vehicle tracking, heavy equipment, container and mobile asset tracking across multiple industries. TL: Essentially, we want to enable a con- nected world with uncompromised com- munication by extending critical infor- mation. Satellite M2M is a means to that end, and it's powered by the combination of our network, Iridium ® Short Burst Data (SBD) service, our latest chipset technology and our partners' innovative solutions. Low latency, pole-to-pole cov- erage and reliability are key points that transform satellite M2M from possible to valuable. WW: Can you share some unique exam- ples of how satellite is being used for M2M? TL: Iridium's diverse customers use our services for various applications globally. A large part of our business is mobile asset tracking, including fleet manage- ment, unpowered asset tracking, aviation and maritime tracking services. Since Iridium's network is 100 percent global, and is used in areas without terrestrial coverage, we provide unique applications such as wildlife tracking and ocean buoys Iridium (Cont'd. from p. 4) that monitor fish stocks, sea temperatures and oil spills. Our service provides criti- cal tracking of firefighting aircraft in Japan and tsunami warning systems in the Indian Ocean. Some of the world's largest Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) like Caterpillar, John Deere and CNH use Iridium to aug- ment their industrial telematics solutions in areas where terrestrial coverage is poor or non-existent. WW: What kinds of trends are you see- ing in the space? TL: The increase in OEM customers is driving demands for asset tracking. Fleet management is fueling demands for dual- mode solutions, which integrate satellite into existing cellular-enabled telematics solutions. The decreasing cost and size of transceivers makes satellite connectivity easier, taking applications from simple "slap and track" to more sophisticated conditions-based monitoring and control. In the future, next-generation satellite net- works, like Iridium NEXT, will potential- ly transform satellite M2M services to look more like cellular IP-based services. The next chapter in M2M should be excit- ing – and satellite is playing a key role. For more information, stop by booth #5541 or go to www.iridium.com. our products and customers. Whether you are a caller trying to get help by dialing 9-1-1, a concerned mother trying to reach a doctor for med- ical advice, a tourist navigating to a national museum or a first responder whose body cam is connected back to his police precinct, these 'connected life' experiences are becoming more com- mon. TCS builds these "Connections That Matter ® " for wireless carriers, gov- ernment and public safety agencies and Fortune 150 enterprises that demand high reliability and security. WW: Which Connected Life technolo- gies will TCS be featuring at CTIA Super Mobility Week 2015? TL: TCS has provided messaging and location solutions for more than two decades. Our platforms have delivered five trillion text messages and our loca- tion solutions process more than nine bil- lion LBS transactions monthly. Drawing upon this experience, we will feature expanded LBS offerings that support both indoor and outdoor location servic- es for a broad range of markets – ranging from public safety to mobile marketing. WW: Security is a growing concern in the mobile ecosystem – what solutions does TCS offer to protect the connected consumer? TL: TCS serves on CTIA's Cybersecurity Working Group, which collaborates with government and indus- try on advanced cyber countermeasures and best practices. At Super Mobility Week, our cyber professionals will dis- cuss our Art of Exploitation ® portfolio that safeguards networks against cyber- security threats, including services that provide information assurance best prac- tices, perform vulnerability assessments and investigate cyber malicious activity, plus training programs for customized instruction in cybersecurity hygiene, pen- etration testing, forensics and more. In addition, we will feature TCS Trusted Location™, a solution that pro- vides financial firms and other organiza- tions a powerful tool for identifying fraud, confirming location compliance and pre- venting embarrassing account lockdowns due to "false positive" account transac- tions. TCS Trusted Location is a platform that uses cellular, satellite, Wi-Fi and other data sets to identify, verify and validate a device's indoor or outdoor location. Altogether, we are excited about Super Mobility Week's opportunities to showcase our solutions to the entire mobile ecosystem and to have one-on- one time with attendees where ideas unleash innovation. These courses start with simple yet vital steps like disassem- bling and identifying major compo- nents on a mobile device. The degree of difficulty intensifies leading to water damage and soldering, level III repairs. "AKA, integrated circuitry," Amsterdam says. "You'll learn to take the actual device apart, identify major components, and troubleshoot the device as well as price out the repairs. We will teach you where to find the parts to do such repairs, how to market the business, where and how to set up a business. All of these things come together in the training course we offer." The three-day courses are for those with more than average experience repairing devices. In many situations, taking this course is the next step to elevate their skills in order to fully compete in this growing market, according to Amsterdam. "In the three- day course, we start day one with liquid damage restoration, Level III micro- soldering repairs, advanced AMOLED glass separation and business strategies such as: point-of-sale systems and mar- keting," he says. Upon completion, all students are awarded with a certificate of course ful- Mengtor Mobile (Cont'd. from p. 1) fillment with which they can present to a future employer or display in their own business. "There are a bunch of employers out there looking for peo- ple," Amsterdam says. "There are con- stant calls to Mengtor from employers looking for the school's most recent trainees." He continues, "Most people coming in are people who want to change their lives and run their own business. After completion, they can go in one of two ways: either they can open their own business or they can join a company that's hiring certified Level III mobile device technicians. Whichever path they decide to take, we will prepare them." Even through a complete course for mobile device repairs, it is not all that Mengtor Inc. has to offer. The partnership between Mengtor Inc. and Cell Repair Tools has eliminated the need to look elsewhere for those who have completed the course, or even to those with already established business- es. While Mengtor offers the training and top quality parts, Cell Repair Tools has the tools for each restoration need. "It's a one-stop shop for training, parts and tools."
