A f te rm a rke t D a i l y N e ws 5 5 Th u r s d a y, N o ve m b e r 6 , 2 0 1 4 NORTHSTAR ULTRA HIGH PERFORMANCE BATTERIES NorthStar Battery has now officially launched its ultra high performance DIN batteries – the same international OEM size that companies such as GM, Chrysler and BMW use for their new models. The range includes the 48 (L3) and 94R (L4) sizes. Proudly made in the USA, NorthStar Batteries use the latest manufacturing technologies to deliver long life, superior cranking, unrivaled cycling, faster recharge and minimal maintenance, even in extreme conditions. "NorthStar Pure Lead AGM Technology has been proven in the field and we're pleased to offer it for a new range of vehicles," says John Semeniuk, Vice-President of SLI for NorthStar Battery. "We've faced down the harshest environments and the toughest chal- lengers and our batteries always come out on top. You just can't beat a NorthStar." The NorthStar DIN Series is already being put to the test: Trans Am 2 champi- on Cameron Lawrence who drives for the Miller Racing team is using them in his car for the 2014 season. Mike Miller, owner of Miller Racing, says he has been impressed by the performance of the new range, and is very happy to continue the winning part- nership with NorthStar Battery. "Their advanced AGM battery tech- nology was used to win last year's cham- pionship, and we hope to continue that success through our association with Northstar this year," he says. The championship Miller Racing car, along with the new DIN battery range, will be in the NorthStar Battery booth at SEMA 2014 in Las Vegas from Nov 5-7. You will find them in booth 24228 in the Racing and Performance hall. With the launch of the DIN Series, NorthStar can now provide a perfect fit OEM solution to over 150 million vehi- cles, covering automotive, marine, RV, heavy duty, first responder and enthusiast markets. The new DIN series will soon be available for purchase in the US and Canada through the NorthStar online store buy.northstarbattery.com. NorthStar Batteries are ideal for vehicles that use the Start/Stop system, which comes standard for many modern vehicles and can quickly reduce battery life. NorthStar's Pure Lead Thin Plate AGM technology outperforms the com- petition and keeps you moving. NorthStar's state-of-the-art battery plants in Missouri, USA, use the latest automated manufacturing to produce Pure Lead positive grid plates. These plates can be made thinner, which means more can be added into each battery to generate greater surface area, which increases power density. The plates are inserted under high compression, which also improves performance characteris- tics, virtually eliminating life limiting failures in high vibration applications. DRY IT OUT WITH INNOGOODS ZARPAX Innogoods, based in Rotterdam, Netherlands, introduces its new Zarpax line, starting with a completely new industry category of reusable automotive dehumidifiers which are designed to keep automotive interiors permanently dry. This category is becoming of increas- ing importance with the increase in on - board electronics, and for electric vehi- cles, with their low tolerance to damp environments. A Zarpax dehumidifying pouch placed on the dashboard overnight will prevent interior moisture, which will stop the interior glass from misting up.Other benefits include the reduction of musty smells, mold and poor air quality in the interior and less corrosion of interior metal components. The dehumidifier comes in the form of an attractive carbon-fiber designed heavy duty cloth pouch filled with spe- cially formulated silica beads featuring a unique patented smart indicator dot that gradually turns from blue to pink as the pouch absorbs increasing amounts of moisture. This makes it the only dessi- cant that actually tells you when it is full and no longer absorbing moisture . Unlike other calcium chloride -based dehumidifiers, once the silica beads are fully absorbed with moisture they stop absorbing but they still contain the mois- ture in so that there is no leakage to stain upholstery and trim. Once the dot has turned pink, simply microwave the pouch for six minutes to release the moisture in the form of vapor and steam. The smart indicator dot will revert to its original blue color when the pouch is ready to be used again. Provided that the instructions are followed closely, each pouch can continue to be reused indefinitely, making it the best value for money dehumidifier on the market by far, according to the company. Its broad application means that this is a product that can be sold by automotive jobbers, auto dealerships, RV dealerships, marine and aircraft markets, storage facilities, and collec- tor car and hot rod specialists. The product is available in attractive eight- packs that convert into counter/shelf displays.Inventory is shipped from warehouses in New Jersey for American customers and Ontario for Canadian customers. LATEST TECHNOLOGY IN BRAKE CONTROLS FROM CURT MFG. CURT Manufacturing, a leading manu- facturer and marketer of top-quality tow- ing products, offers the latest technology in brake controls. The TriFlex brake con- trol rises above the rest with its features and compact design. When towing a large trailer, it is essential that the trailer be equipped with brakes and a brake con- trol. Without a brake control, a trailer's brakes will not activate, creating a poten- tially hazardous situation for the tow vehicle and others on the road. CURT's TriFlex brake control significantly reduces a tow vehicles stopping distance while ensuring a smooth stop. The TriFlex is a proportional brake control that senses the inertia of the tow vehicle, allowing it to accurately apply the appropriate amount of power to the trailer brakes as needed. The technology behind this control is the use of a triple- axis (x, y, z axes) accelerometer, located within the brake control. As the tow vehi- cle's speed and momentum change, the TriFlex provides the exact amount of braking power needed for a safe, efficient and smooth stop every time. Utilizing CURT's TriFlex brake con- trol will maximize the efficiency of trailer brakes by eliminating excessive braking and tire lock-up, thereby extending the life of your trailer brakes and tires. Not only is the CURT TriFlex brake control easy to install, it can also be mounted at various angles and is ready to use in fewer than ten minutes. The sensitivity adjustment fea- ture in the TriFlex allows the user to cus- tomize the brake control based on varying trailer loads or driving conditions. It is compatible with advanced multiplex elec- trical systems, electric-over-hydraulic braking systems and can be used on trail- ers with up to four axles. CURT's lifetime warranty, along with the extensive lineup of features, makes the TriFlex the best brake control on the market today. MANIFEST MANIFOLD EXCELLENCE FROM QFT Quick Fuel Technology (QFT) is well known for its innovative high perform- ance and racing carburetors, and most recently, for its show-winning Black Diamond ® heat-resistant coatings avail- able on many of its carburetors and new QFI electronic fuel injection. FASTY STRAP SECURES THE LOAD The share of drivers saying they have either, "hit a piece of debris, been hit by flying debris or had to swerve to avoid debris," has grown dramatically in recent years. The most recent study by the American Automobile Association Foundation for Traffic Safety estimates that vehicle-related road debris causes about 25,000 collisions and more than 100 deaths each year in North America. Unsecured or poorly secured items that can become life threatening to unsuspecting motorists include home furnishings, build- ing materials and even Christmas trees. According to the German Automobile Club, objects travelling at 30 mph that come to a sudden stop have an impact force that's as much as 25 times greater than their mass. This means that a 70-pound piece of furniture falling out of a pickup, for example, would hit its target with the force of an object that weighs around 1,750 pounds. California high- way workers reportedly collect an esti- mated 140,000 cubic yards annually of debris from the state's roads, enough to fill 8,750 dump trucks, at a cost of $55 million per year. Estimates suggest that as much as 70 percent of this debris acci- dentally hit the road as the result of poor- ly secured loads. Fasty North America, Inc., a California-based company, offers light load cargo straps that can help solve this problem. According to Fasty President Roberto Frulla, "Many homeowners trans- porting household items or building mate- rials use careless tie down methods or use unsuitable poor quality tie-downs that snap or loosen under pressure. We are constantly looking for ways to keep our customers safer, offering products that are easy to use, and really work. A good example is our Fasty Strap™. It's the eas- iest, quickest, strongest tie-down in its class. We call Fasty Strap the 'Just in Case Strap.'" The name reflects that the Fasty Strap has multiple uses, and Frullia would like to see vehicle owners keep one in the vehicle so it'll be at hand whenever a tie- down strap is needed. A few pieces of twine is just not sufficient to secure a box spring and mattress to a vehicle's roof or truck bed for a drive down the highway at 75 miles per hour, Frullia points out. Fasty North America is exhibiting in booth #37000 during SEMA. For more information, visit www.FastyStraps.com.
