Bro a d c a s te r s S h o w D a i l y W e d n e s d a y, A p ri l 9 , 2 0 1 4 1 8 TSACO-3000 & TSC-6000 BY DTV INNOVATIONS The TSC-6000 is a multi-format trans- port stream format converter, and the TSACO-3000 is a multi-format transport stream failover switch and format con- verter all in one. Both are compliant with ATSC and DVB standards. Both units have the following fea- tures: Web server user interface to con- figure and monitor status of the unit; accepts ASI, 310M and TSoIP (SMPTE 2022) input formats; simultaneous ASI, 310M and TSoIP (SMPTE 2022) out- puts; GPI/O to allow remote control and status tally; dual power supplies for reli- ability; ATSC Mobile DTV ready; field upgradable. The TSC-6000 is a robust multi-for- mat transport stream format converter. It converts transport streams between ASI, 310M and TSoIP formats. Any one of the three formats is converted and output simultaneously into all three formats. The TSC-6000 is controlled via a Web server interface where the user can con- figure input interface and monitor the sta- tus of the unit. TSC-6000 has an easy to use design while providing a tolerant and robust platform, which meets the contin- uous demands of the broadcast environ- ment. It is a true "set it and forget it" device. The TSACO-3000 is a robust multi- format Failsafe Protection Switch that automatically prevents broadcasters from unexpectedly going off air. In today's environment, broadcasters have redun- dant encoding systems feeding separate paths to their transmit facility for reliabil- ity. The TSACO-3000, placed at the out- put of the two encoding systems, enables a broadcast station to automatically switch between the primary and backup transport streams in the event of a failure as defined by the user. Signal health monitoring is maintained on both the primary and backup inputs. Fourteen different user definable parameters, con- figurable from the Web server interface allow a station to tune their unit for spe- cific parameters. Parameters include: HEX 47 sync detection (two levels), PAT, PSIP and an additional nine service ele- ment PIDs to monitor payload loss. Additionally, if the unit has switched to the backup input, the user can configure it to switch back to the primary transport stream if the stream goes error free for a user definable amount of time. One of the most important facts about the TSACO-3000 is the signal con- tinuity (HEX 47 sync) remains seamless during the transition between primary and backup transport streams, allowing the receiver to maintain lock during the switch. The TSACO- 3000 offers broadcast- ers a truly reliable, intelligent redundancy solution based on a hardware platform complete with redun- dant power supplies and mechanical relay bypass. It is an excellent option for broadcasters who want to prevent trans- mission outages. Finally, the TSACO-3000 and TSC-6000 are ATSC A/153 Mobile DTV Ready. A configurable parameter allows the unit to lock to the incoming transport stream preventing the inser- tion or removal of null packets. A prob- lem which breaks Mobile DTV, described in a recent TV Technology article titled "HPA 2013: Fox's Mobile DTV Update." The TSC-6000 was veri- fied at FOX to work extremely well in the Mobile DTV environment. For more information, call 847-919- 3550 or stop by NAB booth #SU6906. WINSTED INTRODUCES E-SOC CONTROL STATIONS Winsted Corporation is pleased to intro- duce E-SOC Control Stations. Ideal for any control room application, E-SOC Control Stations are part workstation, part console and completely adaptable. Ergonomic enhancements improve oper- ator performance and result in greater sit- uational awareness when monitoring complex systems. CREATIVE DIMENSIONS WORKS WITH RENOWNED PRODUCTION DESIGNER Creative Dimensions has long been known for its superior fabrication skills and comprehensive project management. Over the past few years, it has entered into a strategic relationship with Production Designer James Yates, who has over 18 years of experience develop- ing designs for numerous broadcast and cable television projects. This combina- tion of talent has provided clients with the best of both worlds. Yates' work runs the gamut of news, sports, talk, public affairs, reality, game and entertainment programming. He has designed broadcast studio environments for ABC, CBS, MSNBC, tru TV, PBS, Bloomberg, Fox News Channel, CNBC and ESPN. His ABC Sports set for Super Bowl XL in Detroit was seen by an esti- mated 141 million people in the United States. In 2013, Yates won an Emmy award for the set design of Sportsnet New York (SNY) Studio A as part of the design and fabrication team with Creative Dimensions. Yates subscribes to an all- encompassing digital design philosophy that incorporates his extensive skills in 3D ren- dering, CAD drafting and graphic design software: "It's all about pre-visualization. It's not enough to make pretty pictures of a large studio environment. You need to understand how each show will be shot. You have to know where the cameras will be relative to the on-air talent. Wide shots are about five per- cent of the equation. That's why we strive to deliver rich, detailed and accurate design presentations that make a strong visual statement. The goal is to make sure our clients can see what the camera will see before construction begins." Working in with Creative Dimensions, Yates has designed successful studio sets for a variety of clients. Yates describes the partnership this way: "More and more clients are looking for a design and build turnkey solution. We need to adapt to what the market demands. That is what drives this partner- ship. However, we are not interested in cookie cutter design. There is no agenda to develop studio set designs that are just a slight variation on the same fabrication template. We have no interest in that. We don't think our clients are interested in that either. Designing and building a new stu- dio set is a big commitment. It should engage your audience, fit your budget and enhance your brand. It should be well designed and well built. And most impor- tantly, it should be unique." For more information, visit www.go withcd.com or stop by booth #C6043.
