Its three show locations, covering the South Hall, North Hall and Global Crossroads, feature a wide variety of products in the home and houseware sectors. The Pavilion also offers a taste of what will be on offer at Asia's largest houseware event, the HKTDC Hong Kong Houseware Fair, April 20-23. Off the Shelf Specializing in iron-wire processing, Bow Shing Metal Mfg Ltd creates shelving and storage solutions for clothing, shoes, dish- es and entertainment. Chan Wai Kit, Sales Manager for the company, says the com- pany's latest product, Square Angle Flat Wire, should attract plenty of attention at IH+HS. "It is innovative and unique in the mar- ket, and is suitable for iron furniture and art ware," said Mr. Chan. He adds that in a constantly evolving industry Bow Shing stands out by delivering cutting-edge developments that command consumer attention. In the Hong Kong Pavilion's North Hall location, Builder Packing (booth N8056) is showing an array of aluminum cases for popular market categories, including watch presentation boxes, hard-side lug- gage and tool cases. Builder Packing works with distributors, private labels and original equipment manufacturers throughout North America, Europe and Australia, offering a wide range of shapes, sizes and finishes. First in Asia Along with its reputation as a global busi- ness and financial hub, Hong Kong is Asia's capi- tal for trade fairs and con- ventions. The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) puts together more than 30 world-class fairs each year. Nine of the fairs are the biggest of their kind in Asia, and three are the world's largest. The HKTDC also offers a complimentary business-match- ing service that puts you in direct contact with third-party verified companies in Hong Kong and mainland China. Its web- site, www.hktdc.com, features all its fair exhibitors, as well as advertisers from the HKTDC's specialized product magazines across 15 industries, ensuring that you can source quickly, easily and confidently. World of Fine Décor The HKTDC Hong Kong Houseware Fair in April will feature "World of Fine Décor." The new zone will put a spotlight on exhibitors specializing in premium home-decoration items, fur- niture, artificial flowers, art- work and figurines. It's the perfect place for designers to present their latest innova- tive offerings. Another zone of high interest will be the "World of Pet Supplies," where buyers and sellers from around the world connect. Despite the economic downturn, pet product sales maintain a three per cent increase each year in Western European markets and a 10 per- cent increase in central European coun- tries. GRANDMA'S LYE SOAP BEST IMPULSE ITEM AT STORES NATIONWIDE Before Grandma came up with Grandma's Lye Soap, she raised five children and helped with 10 grandchil- dren, some of whom suffer with aller- gies and dry skin. She has always been great at creating new, low-cost recipes for her family to keep grocery cost at a minimum. In 2002, the small company she and her husband of 37 years owned was struggling with only one small product line. Realizing that a company needed more than one product to sur- vive, Grandma decided to add a line of all-natural, hand-crafted face and body soap. She later discovered the oils she had used for her traditional lye soap seemed to be more compatible with the human skin than commercially pro- duced soaps. To her amazement, as soon as the soap hit the market, she immediately started receiving calls from users explaining how it stopped dry, itchy skin. People were getting relief from the symptoms of psoriasis, eczema, unexplained rashes and other skin irritations. She receives from four to six calls daily from people who won't use any other soap. Most soap contains detergents that can dry and irritate skin, especially in winter. Grandma's Lye Soap leaves skin squeaky clean, soft and smooth. Customers tell her they feel a real dif- ference with their first shower. Her soap is diligently sought after by peo- ple looking for relief from the discom- fort of eczema, psoriasis and other dry or itchy skin conditions. Since its first offering, sales of Grandma's Lye Soap have grown at a rate of 20 percent to 40 percent each year, mostly by word of mouth. When customers get results, they tell their friends. This growth has prompted Grandma to add specialty soaps. The most popular are her Teenage Acne Bar, designed to clean skin pores; Poison Ivy/Oak Bar, with jewelweed that stops the itch immediately; Don't Bug Me Bar, with oils that repel insects naturally; and a Pet Soap for sensitive-skin pets that gets white dogs white again; and many other natural products.
