Weston is expanding its small, kitchen- friendly tool offerings, from compact choppers and mixers, to manual food grinders and dumpling makers. The French Fry Cutter and Vegetable Dicer are the newest additions to this family of products. This ratchet-style French Fry Cutter is the hassle-free tool to cut French Fries or dice fruits and veggies to make deli- cious sides and salads quickly and easily. With its ratchet style pusher, it is effort- less to advance vegetables through the blades. Simply push down on the ratchet handle and the pusher advances the food through the blades for even consistent cuts. With other French Fry Cutters, it can be cumbersome to push hard potatoes and carrots through the blades without jamming or breaking the blades, but the ratchet action gradually advances fruits and vegetables to reduce the pressure and tension on the blades. Each click of the ratchet pushes the food through the blades in 3/8-inch intervals. This design even allows you to prepare delicious sweet potato fries! Each French Fry Cutter and Vegetable Dicer includes a 3/8-inch blade and pusher set and a 1/2-inch blade and pusher set for thicker cuts. The blade and pusher snap into place, allowing for secure and stable operation. Even better, the non-slip rubber feet prevent the slicer from sliding around the counter while in use. Plus, this French Fry Cutter features a removable knife guide for perfect dic- ing of fruits and vegetables. Simply attach the knife guide to the body of the French Fry Cutter and with each click run a knife through the knife guide for perfectly diced fruits and vegetables. Easy to use and easy to clean, this French Fry Cutter is also dishwasher safe! The item number is 36-3301-W and the MSRP is $24.99. WHITFORD'S FUSION, THE SUPERIOR CERAMIC NONSTICK COATING Fusion ® nonstick sol-gel ceramic-like coatings have been the talk of the indus- try recently. Striving for continuous improvement, Whitford R&D teams have been working on new developments. New Colors White, black and gray dominate the mar- ket, but more vibrant colors are gaining acceptance. Whitford now has a striking red, blue, cream, brown (with more to come). Exteriors Whitford offers sol-gel exteriors to replace expensive porcelain in many eye- catching colors. These coatings offer the high gloss, durability and easy cleaning at a lower price (and save the high ener- gy costs of curing porcelain enamel up to 810 degrees Celsius (1,500 degrees Fahrenheit). Fusion is totally free of any PTFE and PFOA. Because it is ceramic, Fusion (like others) can be taken to extreme tem- peratures (455 degrees Celsius/850 degrees Fahrenheit). If for any reason a fry pan (for example) is left on high heat with nothing in it, the coating is far more likely to survive than conventional non- sticks, which begin to deteriorate at tem- peratures greater than 260 degrees Celsius (500 degrees Fahrenheit) and decompose above 350 degrees Celsius (662 degrees Fahrenheit). It is water- borne, and can be formulated to conform to individual states' VOC-compliant laws. Fusion also cures at a lower temperature, using less energy and sav- ing money ( 10-20 min- utes at 280-330 degrees Celsius/535-625 degrees Fahrenheit). What Fusion Offers Over Other Ceramic Nonsticks There is something not often mentioned by ceramic-coating suppliers: Most ceramic coatings involve some fairly complicated chemistry that makes them difficult to apply. Whitford has simplified the application process by reducing the number of packs that the applicator must combine. Fusion ceramic systems acti- vate in three hours or less; others can take as long as 24 hours. The other ceramics are also two-coat systems. While this is not new and can be handled by most applicators, each coat is made up of several "packs" that must be combined, mixed and "aged" precisely before being sprayed onto cook- ware. Once mixed, ceram- ic coatings must be used promptly (they have a short "pot-life"). There can be as many as three or four packs each for the base and the topcoat. The cure profile and process-control requirements are more demanding and subject to error. Improper preparation and application can result in excessive in-process rejects and customer returns. They require a coater experienced in the application of ceramic coatings. For more information, please contact Whitford directly. Please visit Whitford in the South Hall, booth 3621 to learn more about Fusion and its other nonstick prod- ucts. Visit the company website at www.whitfordww.com or email sales@whitfordww.com).
