Its 1,001 uses include soaking up greasy spills, drying heavy produce, cleaning up wet or sticky messes, washing dishes and removing pet hair and dust from furniture. Its soft enough to be used as a baby wipe yet it can also serve as a cloth for your floor sweeper. It can remove makeup or be used to clean your windows. Bambooee is washable by both dishwash- er and washing machine. And, Krasniansky said, the more you wash it, the softer and more durable it becomes. You can reuse it up to 25 times, but with repeated washings, that can be extended for months. The company recommends line dry- ing rather than by machine. But you can wash it with bleach if need be—it's chem- ical resistant. It fits on a paper towel dis- penser, too. The company wants to help Americans change our penchant for buy- ing paper. "We want people to have a choice to vote with their dollars," said Noam Krasniansky, Bambooee's Vice President of Marketing and Sales. "Big companies don't give people a choice. We want to change the way people shop." Bambooee plants a tree with every roll sold through its partnership with the nonprofit Trees for the Future, an organi- zation that helps communities around the world plant trees and fight deforestation. Since its founding in 1989, it's planted more than 50 million trees in 12,000 vil- lages in 58 countries. The goal, Krasniansky said, is to plant one million trees. They'll have a ticker on the website showing how many trees have been planted to date. For more information about Bambooee, visit booth N6655 at the International Home+ Housewares show. COOKINA IS THE ALTERNATIVE TO ALUMINUM FOIL, PARCHMENT AND WAX PAPER Launched last March at the 2012 International Home + Housewares Show, Cookina® Non-Stick and Reusable Cooking Sheets are now on the shelves of major retailers in the United States and in Canada. This year, Poirier Richard inc. will bring to market a special line of Cookina products specifically designed for gourmet/specialty boutiques. Cookina Non-Stick and Reusable Cooking Sheets look like a sheet of plastic except that they are heat-resistant and they won't burn. The company's non-stick quality allows you to cook your food to perfection without using oils or sprays to grease the surface. Once you have fin- ished cooking, you only need to wipe it clean or wash it in warm soapy water. It's ready to be used again. You can cook healthily and clean up in a minute or less. Cookina makes sure everything glides and nothing sticks thanks to a revolutionary material. They are reusable and hold no odor or flavor from previous use, so you can cook fish, wipe your Cookina then cook pan- cakes in the same spot. Cookina Cuisine is perfect for use on baking sheets and pans making cleanup easier. Ideal for cookies, pies, cakes, bis- cuits, breads, baked goods, nachos, pizzas, fish, chicken, roasts, casseroles and even eggs in a pan. Excellent for health grills and sandwich makers, perfect for roasting food on oven trays, and it makes a great non-stick surface for breads and candies! Cookina also offers a Non-Stick and Reusable Cooking Sheet for the Barbecue and a new oven liner to keep the bottom of your oven clean. HONG KONG: COOKING UP BUSINESS By Wing Sham, Director Midwest, Hong Kong Trade Development Council The Hong Kong pavilion at the Global Crossroads area of the IH+HS opens doors for U.S. companies and Hong Kong exhibitors, making it easy for them to explore cooperation opportunities in orig- inal equipment manufacturing (OEM). Hong Kong companies enjoy an envi- able reputation for quality OEM products at affordable prices. This translates to advantage for the end customer who does not have to sacrifice value for money. Hong Kong companies are also well- known for combining creativity with prac- ticality in a way that stands out from the competition. Nice Rice Consider Great Global (HK) Ltd, a com- pany with rich design and manufacturing experience. Great Global makes commer- cial and household electronic kitchen appliances, including an energy-saving electronic rice cooker that has earned national patents and awards in mainland China. Eddie Jan, who handles marketing for Great Global, says the company is seeing increased consumer demand for product quality, as well as a need for affordable pricing. "We are confident that we can sat- isfy both ends of that expectation as a cer- tified manufacturer by Department of Quality Supervision, coupled with our reputation for value-based pricing," Mr. Jan said. Great Grills Another Global Crossroads exhibitor, Hometech International, is featuring portable, gas- powered barbecue grills. Offering smartly detailed decoration, the backyard cookers appeal to the 18-25- year-old set. Dao Pin Gu, Hometech's Director, says that such customers are often more likely to rent rather than own – and consider portability a more important factor when making a purchase. Bringing People Together Many of the Hong Kong exhibitors at IH+HS are supported by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), which got going in 1965, and remains dedicated to promoting interna- tional trade and creating opportu- nities between companies from Hong Kong and around the world. A non-profit, quasi-govern- ment agency, the HKTDC offers complimentary business-match- ing services and extensive market intelli- gence for SMEs. The Council also organ- izes more than 30 international trade fairs in Hong Kong each year, nine of which are the largest of their kind in Asia and three of which are the largest in the world. It also offers travel sponsorships for first- time buyers to its trade shows.
