K i t c h e n w a r e N e w s & H o u s e w a r e s R e v i e w S h o w D a i l y 8 7 S u n d a y, M a r c h 0 3 , 2 0 1 3 family-owned business, first bringing in to Connecticut cold press extra virgin olive oil that was and still is produced by our family in the Kalamata region of Greece. We later began adding balsamic vinegars from Modena, Italy, as well as olives, honey and fruit preserves from Greece. Our mission from the very beginning was to provide the North American Market and the world with premium oils, vinegars and other specialty foods at an affordable price. Since 1997, Ariston's products have been greatly received by the public. Ariston's products have been featured numerous times on NPR's Faith Middleton Show "Food Schmooze," The Hartford Currant, National Public TV has featured our products for fundraisers, and we have also been featured several times on The Boston Globe as well as the Westchester County Magazine in N.Y. In the winter of 2007, Ariston was featured on PBS WGBY's "Making it Here in America." Ariston's olive oil and balsam- ic has received several Best in Connecticut Awards from 2001-2011. Ariston's olive oil also received a silver medal at the 2012 International Olive Oil Competition in Los Angeles, and was recently awarded "Most Favourite" Olive Oil at SIAL CANADA's 2012 OLIVE d'OR Competition in Montreal. The Ariston Refill & Save Program is a program that we have installed to sev- eral different types of stores (deli's, bak- eries, butcher shops, pasta shops, cheese shops, restaurants, upscale grocery stores, farm stands, etc) all over our home state Connecticut since 1997, and now up and down the East Coast, Mid-west, West Coast, the Carribbean and Alaska! This bulk program allows customers to buy a glass bottle once, then fill the bottle with product. The moment the bot- Ariston Specialties (Con't. from p. 1) tle is empty; the customer can come back to the same store to refill the bottle only paying for the product itself and not the fancy packaging. The Refill & Save Program is prof- itable to the retailer and keeps premium oil and vinegar at a reasonable price. The price range for Greek cold press extra vir- gin olive oil is $11.99 (first time purchase with 17-oz. /500mL glass bottle) and then only $9.99 for future refills, saving the customer $2 with every future refill. The traditional balsamic vinegar's first time purchase with 8.5 fl oz / 250mL glass bot- tle is $10.99 and only $8.99 with future refills. Now you can find this same program for the infused olive oils and vinegars offered by the Ariston line. We slowly began adding other all- natural specialty food items from Greece such as fruit preserves that are gluten free and corn syrup free, olives and honey. Ariston Honey is sourced from local bee- keepers in the Messenia region of Greece where wildflowers are truly wild and nature has been left untouched by man. The variety of the wildflowers and cli- mate of the southern Greece makes this a truly prized honey as you will see it is thicker than your usual commercially available honey. The hives are transport to different areas of the Messenia region to give us a larger variety of wildflowers. Available with or without the honeycomb piece inside the jar! At Ariston, we strive to find the best products that the Mediterranean countries have to offer, and in order to do this we find ourselves going to local producers rather than large companies, as the quali- ty from local producers is not sacrificed for profit. Fusionbrands' 2012 product intro- ductions have been a huge retail success. From the GrillComb to SpoonSpreader to the HeatWave, the simple yet unique function of each is proving to be a big hit. Here are some details of the 2012 product line that make them so special. The SpoonSpreader is a folding spoon that scoops and spreads. With no sharp edges, its lightweight kid-friendly design makes it easy and safe for kids to prepare their own breakfast, lunch or snack, giv- ing you more time to enjoy that morning cup of coffee. The SpoonSpreader is also a baker's dream tool for frosting cup- cakes to get that perfect swirl! Just fold to scoop and flatten to spread. The PetitPot is the flexible little pot that does a lot. PetitPots provide single servings of your favorite snacks, are great for dipping sauces and baking delicious mini delights. It's the cutest little contain- er that functions in infinite ways—prep, bake and serve. The PetitPot is available in six color fades and is oven-, microwave- and dishwasher-safe. Skewer with style with the GrillComb. Modernize barbecues every- where with this revolutionary must-have addition to your grilling arsenal and straighten out the hassles of using long and pointy single threading skewers. The GrillComb design with its multiple teeth is simply a better skewer. Easily slide shrimp, beef, chicken and vegetables onto the stainless steel teeth, securing it in place and start flipping like a pro. Turn even the most delicate items to your Fusionbrands (Con't. from p. 1) heart's content without food spinning. Catch the wave with the HeatWave, a trivet with removable silicone pot grip. Using "Wave Technology," the two-piece HeatWave protects surfaces and hands from hot pots and pans. The sturdy high heat white nylon trivet wave design cre- ates flow chambers allowing heat to dis- perse into the air and not on your sensi- tive surfaces. The wave design of the col- orful high heat silicone pot grip makes it easy to flex, pick up and grab hot han- dles, oven racks and hard to open jars. Use the two pieces of the HeatWave together or separate; simply unsnap the flexible pot grip from the white base, grab hot pots and pans from your oven, stovetop, microwave or toaster oven, and confidently set them down on the trivet. Fusionbrands' credo is to make everyday tasks easier and more pleasura- ble. "We are really excited about these new products and the new materials," said Kraigh Stewart, Co-Founder of Fusionbrands. "Now that we know our way around the kitchen, we want to bring Fusionbrands to other parts of the home and workplace." In 2013, Fusionbrands will expand its product directions and materials into other areas of the home, bringing inventive and creative approaches to day-to-day activi- ties. Fusionbrands has a number of addi- tional patent applications pending in the US Patent & Trademark Office and sever- al new products under development. LG: Dad, is it okay if I call you Mark? MG: If you want to, but only for business. LG: We founded YouCopia six years ago, but you've been an inventor and entrepre- neur for 30-plus years in the housewares, hardware, pet and juvenile industries. Where do good product ideas come from? MG: My process usually begins with recognition of a problem in my day-to-day life. I try to find an innovative solution through simple, straight-forward product design. When I began raising you and your sisters, I suddenly had a lot of ideas for products that could help parents travel with their children more easily, so I began a company called Children On The Go. LG: My favorite product was the BeamScreen, and not just because I appeared on the packaging. It was the first-ever shade for car windows that protected kids from direct sunlight. MG: I started making those in our garage. We sold a ton of units and my business began to take off! From that experience, I learned the importance of solution-based products. If I have a problem, other people probably do too. YouCopia's product development is focused on finding solu- tions to problems that many people experi- ence every day. We want to help people feel happy and in control of their home through organized living. YouCopia (Con't. from p. 1) LG: YouCopia started with an idea for a product that organizes store- bought spices. We've built our business and sold more than half a million SpiceStacks to date. Now we have organizers for vitamins, medicine, coffee and tea. Where does YouCopia go from here? MG: The beverage market is hot. For 2013, we're introducing an exciting line of coffee, espresso and tea organizers called the "Stand" series that are space efficient, easy-to-use and affordable. We even have an organizer for the hottest beverage "stream" on the market. We also have some great new colors and product updates for our best-selling SpiceStacks. Next year, I think YouCopia may venture outside the kitchen. LG: Hopefully to my bathroom, because it's a mess! Seriously, you always say the way to beat the competition is to bring more products to market, faster. But is it just about having more to offer? MG: Having a large quantity of products is definitely an advantage for securing retail, but the sell-through to the consumer is more important. If it doesn't resonate with consumers, an opening order that goes nowhere is not much fun. The consumer wants something fresh, functional and good-looking. So the way to beat the com- petition is to bring more innovation to mar- ket, faster. And that is what YouCopia does and will continue to do. Meet Mark and Lauren in IH+HS booth S746. For product information, pricing and availability, contact YouCopia at 773-252- 0710 or email sales@YouCopia.com. décor. The functional design will hold an abundance of kitchen utensils and can also double as a handy flatware caddy.
