Kitchenware News and Housewares Review Show Daily recently caught up with John Murphy, Inventor and Founder of It's Exciting Lighting, and asked him what we can expect this year from It's Exciting Lighting. KNSD: What's new for It's Exciting Lighting at the International Home + Housewares Show? JM: Every year we bring our newest and most innovative new products to the IH+HS show. This year we have expanded our line of products with our new Outdoor Motion Sensor Light series and new Table Top designs. We are thrilled to launch our changeable line of wall lights and new pen- dant designs for our ceiling lighting line. KNSD: Speaking of ceiling lights, last year your battery-powered LED Pendant Lights received Innovation Awards at both the International Home + Housewares Show and the National Hardware Show. What did that mean to you? JM: First it was a great honor and nice to be recognized for our innovation, but it was also validation that we are on top of the lat- est trends in LED Lighting. The best feeling I get though is from our many satisfied cus- tomers who rave about how much they love and use our battery-powered LED Pendant Lights. KNSD: Besides featuring LEDs, aren't most of your products battery powered? Why? JM: I believe that with the advances in LED and battery technology that providing portable lighting products that compare favorably to hard wired fixtures is the future of illumination and that's what we are all about! You can't run wires in many places in your home, both inside and out, and It's Exciting Lighting makes lighting prod- ucts that solves the problem with decorative home décor lights. But then something happened when Hurricane Sandy hit the East Coast and mil- lions of people were literally in the dark. Even with limited internet access we had the largest sales day ever right after the storm. We also donated lights to local char- ities and residents. I realized right there that It's Exciting Lighting actually helped many people who were affected by the storms aftermath get through a prolonged power outage safely. I am proud that our LED Lights are also great disaster preparedness items. It's Exciting Lighting made a differ- ence in people's lives. KNSD: What is the key value that It's Exciting Lighting offers poten- tial buyers? JM: We have built successful and long term relationships with many buyers who we have collaborated with to bring new products to mar- ket. We are vertically integrated, with expe- rienced engineers and designers, have dual- factory capacity and domestic in-house sales, operations and warehouse facilities at our corporate headquarters in Moorestown, N.J. I look forward to seeing many of our friends in the industry as well as meeting new potential partners. I invite your readers to stop by our booth to check out our latest lighting creations. It's always a great show! Meet John Murphy and see all the new It's Exciting Lighting products in booth S4830. After the show, be sure to visit www.itsexcit- inglighting.com and call 800-381-3919. HUTZLER, CREATOR OF FOOD SAVERS, EXPANDS INTO HEALTHFUL SNACKING By now, it seems that most everyone knows what a Food Saver is―those handy, little storage containers that look just like an onion or just like a tomato. Not only are they cute and easy to find in a refrigerator, but they do prolong the life of the food they store. So it is no surprise that Hutzler Manufacturing Co., the creator of this category, has been adding to its line with the next wave of food storage. The Salad Saver is an adorable bowl and cover that looks just like a head of lettuce. It keeps lettuce and salads fresh longer. The bright green color is easy to spot in a crowded refrigerator. The tomato-shaped strainer allows water to drain, keeping salad crisp and dry. One can also store salad dressing underneath the strainer if transporting salad to the office. Then just shake it up and eat. No more soggy salad. Use the Salad Saver for fun outdoor serving, too. Speaking of on-the-go snacking, Hutzler's new Snack Attack Kiwi to-go is the perfect solution for enjoying a healthy kiwi snack away from home. The small container holds the kiwi until ready to use. Inside the container is a handy slicer to cut the kiwi in half, allowing you to then scoop out the deli- cious fruit with the included spoon. So compact and so easy! Hutzler is still manufacturing the classic kitchenwares and promotions that it is known for: utensils, cookie cut- ters, baking gadgets, decorating bags, graters and slicers, funnels, and, of course Food Savers, to name a few. Since Hutzler's beginning in 1938, it has been manufacturing with plastics, enlivening kitchens with color. As a family-owned and operated business, Hutzler lives up to its reputation for out- standing quality, original designs and excellent customer service.
