Convenience Retailer Show Daily 4 1 Wednesday, October 10, 2018 CRSD: How has Se-Kure Controls developed? LG: Our company was started by selling convex safety mirrors to retailers. Our Founder, Roger Leyden, would sell and then install them. Over time, he moved the company into manufacturing. We have three U.S.-based plants that manu- facture several thousand different prod- ucts, all designed to deter theft. Many of the products we make and sell were requested by our customers. CRSD: Fifty-three years in business is quite an achievement. How have you managed that? LG: Our willingness to react to customer requests has helped us grow throughout those 53 years. Our customers include many of the country's and the world's largest and most successful retailers, including convenience stores, travel centers and fuel retailers. Fortunately, our products are easily installed and maintained, and are dependable and long-lasting. All of those attributes are appreciated by our customers. We do our own plastic injection molding, metal fabrication, mirrorizing and a variety of additional processes. By controlling the manufacturing process from start to finish, we can ensure high quality and maintain lower costs. Se-Kure Controls (Cont'd. from p. 1) CRSD: What does Se-Kure Controls offer to accomplish that reduction in shrinkage? LG: Our Se-Kure Domes & Mirrors division is the largest manufacturer of convex safety mirrors and domes in the United States. We have the widest vari- ety of those products available. They help reduce theft by allowing store per- sonnel to see down aisles and over their shelving units. Our parent company manufactures cash drop boxes and peg hook locks that can protect cash and prevent sweeping theft from their peg hooks. CRSD: How do you see the future for Se-Kure Controls and the convenience industry? LG: All of the data I have seen indicates that the industry has and will continue to grow. That growth includes continued diversification in the product mix avail- able at those stores. Many of those prod- ucts are sought after by shoplifters. We at Se-Kure Controls look forward to contin- uing to partner with our customers, old and new, to improve their bottom line for years to come. Visit Se-Kure Controls at booth #2471. On Great River Organic Milling ® pack- aging, you may notice the blue heron, or a bird native to the Mississippi River region, which just so happens to be where Great River Milling's (GROM) facility is headquartered. The great adventure of the GROM blue heron start- ed in 1975, in what is known as the heart of the Hiawatha River Valley. Not only is the blue heron native to the GROM head- quarters region, but stands tall as a sym- bolic reminder of the company's commit- ment to providing great organic products. A Bit of History GROM started operations on a small- scale fulfillment basis, providing local co-op's and grocery stores with many types of stone ground flours, pancake mixes and whole grain cereals. It was- n't until 2004 that Rick Halverson saw a vision for Great River Organic Milling to take flight within the indus- try. Halverson believes in building strong relationships with people from all over the world while maintaining the value of great products. As rela- tionships have grown, so have the scale of operations to fulfill the needs of the local grocery store to some of the nation's largest retailers. Whether you need a couple hundred pounds of flour for your bakery, or a couple thou- sand pounds of flour for your cereal processing facility, GROM is committed to helping you. Commitment to Bake Great! ® The Bake Great! slo- gan combines the company's name and its desire for those who buy GROM products to produce baked goods that are great because they are organic, but also great in flavor and nutrition. The GROM team has worked diligently to obtain and maintain various certifica- tions. These include non-GMO certifi- cation, kosher approved, Quality Assurance International organic certifi- cation, along with food safety certifica- tions from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, the Federal Drug Administration and American Institute of Baking. In addition to these certifications, it is also audited by customers upon request, gaining confidence from some of the largest retail- ers and manufacturers in the country. New at Great River Milling The company is excited to announce a new line of products for its customers, produced with the same care and commitment as its other products. From amaranth to quinoa, whole grain, to flakes and flours. Packing of these new products can be found in smaller quanti- ties, offering more variety.
