Consumer Electronics Daily News 5 7 Thursday, January 11, 2018 into overdrive. 5G technology is moving out of the lab and into the marketplace, transform- ing industries from healthcare, public safety and energy to retail and an indus- try hard to miss at CES – automotive. Ericsson's recently published 5G Business Potential report studied how digitalization will transform industries, including transportation. Current trends already draw on digitalization: connected travelers consume infotainment on the go while benefiting from usage-based insur- ance. Changing commuter habits include car sharing, enabled by geo-location, which reduces emissions and congestion. Enterprises are finding new applica- tions in the connected supply chain, con- nected service and maintenance of cars, and a growing digital aftermarket. And, of course, we anticipate a steady rise in green and sustainable vehicles, especially hybrids and all-electric power trains. For drivers and passengers, digitaliza- tion in autos promises to improve our lives in significant and not-yet-imagined ways. Connected services will improve the driv- ing experience and enable the monitoring of vehicles. Smart routes and other sys- tems will increase safety and efficiency for the driver. Augmented reality will enter our cars in the form of AR dashboards. The benefits across ecosystem partici- pants will be concrete: Ericsson's 5G Business Potential Report found that by 2026, automotive digitalization will create $213 billion in revenue worldwide for Information Communications Technology 5G (Cont'd. from p. 1) (ICT) players. Autonomous driving alone would bring $69 billion of that total, and another $73 billion from safety and traffic efficiency. Think of the connected car as a network on wheels – and a rolling revenue stream. Where is this leading? As you're seeing in the news and here at CES 2018, autonomous cars are already a thing. It's only a matter of time before they become the thing on the road. The car as a digital platform will be part of a connected vehi- cle ecosystem, including vehicle-to-vehi- cle-to-infrastructure integration. Ericsson has been at the forefront of 5G development and is already moving 5G out of the lab and into the market- place. Scania, the Swedish manufacturer of commercial vehicles, turned to Ericsson to develop Scania ONE, a digi- tal gateway to a host of connected servic- es for fleet owners and drivers. In part- nership with SK Telecom and BMW Korea, Ericsson used advanced 5G tech- nology to track a connected car traveling over 100 mph to demonstrate data trans- mission speeds on a 5G network. On the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, famous for the Indie 500, Ericsson and Verizon attained downlink speeds of 6.4Gbps in a vehicle travelling at 60 mph. Additionally, ensure images and descrip- tions are detailed accurately online to prevent shoppers from buying the wrong item. When a customer does make a return, ask why they are returning the product, then suggest an alternative to better suit their needs, if applicable. 2. Evaluate your shipping process. Partnering with a provider that ensures a streamlined shipping and returns process can also help decrease the overall return rate. Since no two businesses are the same, flexibility is important. The Postal Service™ offers convenient and affordable options for the returns process, including several ways to pro- vide return labels to customers, includ- ing prepaid options. Tracking updates and accessible collection locations also aid in providing a near effortless returns process for customers. With free package pickup six days a week, more than 31,000 post offices and 180,000 blue collection boxes, we pro- USPS (Cont'd. from p. 4) vide the most access points of any car- rier so your customers can return items effortlessly. 3. Consider free returns. A majority of consumers consider free returns an important factor in their ecommerce purchase decision, with 53 percent saying they would pick one store over another if it offered free returns ("State of Shipping Survey Results," Shippo, December 2016). Aside from the cost-saving aspect, free returns can help provide customers with a sense of security and may encourage them to buy a product they otherwise would not have purchased. While free returns can be costly to a business, con- veying that customers' interests are top of mind may help win and maintain brand loyalty, as well as lead to repeat sales. Product returns don't have to result in a negative customer experience or loss of profit. Evaluating and refining your returns process can make a difference in lowering return rates and improving cus- tomer satisfaction and retention, while increasing your bottom line. At CES, Immotor will introduce a few new business models for a series of three Super Batteries configurations – called The Battery Exchange. The new programs, which are currently being pilot- ed, will expand internationally in 2018 and will allow consumers to eliminate "range anxiety" by offering conveniently located battery stations where Super Batteries can be (reserved and) swapped out for fully charged units within seconds. Independent of the GO, The Super Battery itself is a versatile "power bank" that can be used with a wide range of type C devices or through standard USB ports. In addition to The Battery Exchange, Immotor is also displaying two new ver- sions of The Super Battery, the M2 and Immotor (Cont'd. from p. 4) M6. While the original model, M4, is best used for kick scooters, the M2 features a slim design compatible with bikes, skate- boards and robotics, and the M6 can be used to power larger PETs including motorcycles and sit-down scooters. The expanded collection offers different power configurations for various applica- tions, and allows for a wider array of companies to adopt the solution that bet- ter manages performance, provides mean- ingful insights into product development and provides the ability to innovate faster, safer and more cost-effectively. Visit Immotor at booth #3731 in the North hall to learn more about these new developments and test drive the GO II on the booth track. Learn more at www.immotor.com. and smartphones. While the pixel count, lens quality and processing power of smart- phone cameras have reached dazzling new heights, the onboard audio quality hasn't really kept pace. That's where the Samson Go Mic Mobile comes in. Billed as the first Professional Wireless System for Mobile Video, the Samson Go Mic Mobile is an enhanced audio capture system created for today's on-the-go producers. Combining proven microphone expertise and innovative wireless technology, Samson has created an easy-to-use package that delivers a dramatic improvement in voice clarity and audio fidelity. The Go Mic Mobile system is available paired with either the Samson Q8 wireless handheld dynamic microphone transmitter, or with the Samson LM8 lavalier microphone and wireless beltpack transmitter. Either microphone option can be purchased individually and added on to create a cus- tomized dual-mic configuration. Choose a mixed stereo signal, or output each channel separately to ease post-produc- tion down the line. "The Go Mic Mobile offers superior audio quality that lets me go live confi- dently at a moment's notice," says YouTube marketing maven Derral Eves. Certified by YouTube for Audience Growth, Eves is a video marketing con- sultant who has worked with some of the biggest brands in the world. "I produce an enormous amount of video content, and this system is fantastic for conducting my one-on-one interviews. Plus, the Go Mic Samson (Cont'd. from p. 1) Mobile is simple to use, making it the per- fect choice for any video blogger." At the heart of the package is the Go Mic Mobile receiver. This compact 2- channel wireless receiver delivers a clean, low-latency digital audio signal directly to any iOS device, smartphone, tablet or laptop via a single USB cable. Lightning, Micro-B and USB-C cables are included to ensure the proper connec- tion. An analog output can provide signal to DSLR cameras and field recorders. The wireless design offers unparalleled levels of mobility, and eliminates unsightly wires from the video frame. Operating in the 2.4GHz wireless band, the Go Mic Mobile automatically seeks out the cleanest available channel to deliver a crystal clear audio signal, while achieving up to a 100-foot (line-of-sight) range. Adjustable bracket arms and/or hook-and-loop fasteners connect the Go Mic Mobile receiver securely to any smartphone or tablet. The tripod adapter and DSLR shoe-bracket provide addi- tional camera-mounting solutions. Inside, the rechargeable lithium-ion bat- tery keeps the system running for up to 13 hours. Samson USB microphones gave voice to the podcasting crowd, and its original Go Mic changed the face of VOIP and webcam communications. Now, with the Go Mic Mobile, Samson is set to revolutionize the way mobile con- tent creators capture audio for video.
