Consumer Electronics Daily News Thursday, January 11, 2018 4 8 Sennheiser Presents Immersive Audio with AMBEO SMART HEADSET Sennheiser has debuted its intuitive, compact and mobile 3D recording head- set – the AMBEO SMART HEADSET – which is on display at this year's CES. This ingenious new device captures immersive 3D audio with unparallelled simplicity. Binaural audio recordings cre- ated with the AMBEO SMART HEAD- SET deliver a true-to-life 3D experience – placing the listener inside the sound- scape as it was experienced, while exhibiting natural spatial characteristics. Sennheiser has once again partnered with audio interface manufacturer Apogee for the creation of this headset, which captures incredibly detailed and realistic recordings. This is achieved through two omni-directional micro- phones integrated in the ear pieces. These two microphones work alongside a pre- mium A/D converter, mic preamp and SoftLimit from Apogee, capturing the subtle differences in timing, volume and timbre that occur as sounds from differ- ent directions reach each ear. When played back on headphones, the result is a lifelike audio experience in picture-per- fect fidelity, placing the listener in the exact, original sound field – whether they are capturing a buzzing city or a tranquil forest. The AMBEO SMART HEADSET lets users record in 3D directly onto Apple iOS devices featuring a Lightning connector. Users can now create immersive 3D audio that matches the high-quali- ty video that is available on most mobile devices. It also complements the conven- ience and simplicity of the mobile device experience, making the spontaneous capture of three-dimension- al sound as easy as shooting a high-definition video. "With this new headset, you can use your iOS device's camera to record, experience and relive the same balance of three-dimensional sound and 180-degree visual perspective that we as human beings are accustomed to in our percep- tion of the world," explains Dr. Andreas Sennheiser, co-Chief Executive Officer, Sennheiser. "Sound is crucial to how we understand the space around us, and the AMBEO SMART HEAD- SET lets you record this sense of depth, detail and realism." Daniel Sennheiser, co- Chief Executive Officer, Sennheiser, adds: "Together the AMBEO SMART HEAD- SET and your mobile device can become powerful creative tools for capturing your world in an entirely new way." Visitors to Sennheiser's CES booth have the opportunity to experience this immersive 3D audio, further closing the gap between audio playback and reality as Sennheiser takes yet another step into the future of audio. For this year's edition of CES, the panel selected the most outstanding, cut- ting-edge consumer products showcased across 28 different categories, with Sensio AIR receiving the award for the 'Tech for a Better World' category. Having battled asthma and allergies all their lives, husband and wife co- founders Cyrille Najjar and Dr. Eve Tamraz Najjar decided to tackle an unre- solved issue, all while highlighting the significance of preventive healthcare. On a mission to reveal invisible, potentially life-threatening airborne particles, they developed the first patented sensor capa- ble of identifying and tracking them. Talking about the reasons behind the company's mission, Cyrille Najjar, Chief Executive Officer and co-Founder of Sensio AIR said, "Air quality is a chal- lenge to understand – even for some of the world's most prominent regulatory committees, like WHO or EPA. We took it upon ourselves to link asthma and pol- lution in order to highlight the impact air quality can have on asthma and allergy sufferers – and we've done so by focus- ing on the preventative and predictive aspects," he explained. Dr. Eve Tamraz Najjar, CSO and co- Sensio AIR (Cont'd. from p. 1) Founder of Sensio AIR commented on the recognition by CES. "We are very hon- ored to have won such an esteemed award," she said. "The acknowledgement gives credit to all the hard work completed in-house so far, and gives us the motiva- tion and means to push the product in the U.S. market. This validation from CES enables us to project the significance of asthma and allergy prevention on a larger scale, and therefore change the way respi- ratory conditions are dealt with in the US and the rest of the world," she concluded. About Sensio AIR After two years of research, Sensio AIR was born: a patented allergen tracking device made with a unique technology able to detect and identify airborne parti- cles. The product also provides users with tailored feedback and encourages them to take the necessary steps towards achieving a cleaner, healthier living envi- ronment. If users already possess a smart home automation system, Sensio AIR will instantly connect to the installed network. Sensio AIR boasts a unique sensor that uses the very latest in remote detec- tion technology. Ultimately, this permits the user to request particle identification data from the comfort of their own home. The Importance of Quality Dash Cams The dash cam is a surveillance-oriented video recorder mounted on the wind- screen of a vehicle facing out to the road. It tracks the events going on around your car into a micro SD card and stores video evidence if incidents occur. Dash cams automatically power up and record when your engine turns on and automatically turns off and stops recording when the engine is turned off. Dash cams are pow- ered through a cigarette lighter socket through the power cord. Papago dash cams can continue to record even when you have parked and are away from your vehicle to catch vandals, rogue criminals and can monitor your garage/property. These parked recording features are enabled by hard wiring your dash cam to your battery. A dash cam provides irrefutable video evidence for protection from false accusations after the incident, including drunk drivers, road rage and insurance fraud. Crash investigators can use this important footage to help you figure out what happened in the lead up to an acci- dent. Today, dash cams are used by most drivers in Europe, America, Russia, South Korea, Southeast Asia and are rap- idly growing in popularity in Australia. The importance of quality dash cams are: protecting yourself – dash cams are important because it helps drivers protect themselves from false accusations in road incidents. It's clear that no matter how careful you drive, if other drivers are not careful, you can easily end up in an accident. You may be charged guilty by your insurance com- pany, depending on the situation; and, stopping vandalism/hit and run and mon- itor your parked vehicle – Papago dash cams can protect customer's cars from being vandalized while parked. With the use of a hardwire kit to provide constant power, the dash cam can be triggered by motion or impact and record what is hap- pening around the parked car. We all know what mall/supermarket car parks are like. In most cases, the careless driver will leave the scene without giving details. The dash cam can help prove to your insurance company that you did not cause the damage yourself, or in the case of intentional damage, the footage can be shown to the police. Other reasons quality dash cams are important include: with a quality dash cam, employers can monitor and ensure employees are following company rules when driving fleet vehicles; a quality dash cam provides irrefutable video evi- dence in the event of a road incident – false accusations can be disputed; some quality dash cam models provide GPS location tracking and vehicle speed; a quality dash cam is indispensable because it provides protection and evi- dence from hit and run incidents, car theft and malicious damage; a quality dash cam is easy to install and easy to use; and may reduce the time to settle a claim by an insurance company or court. Conventional in-vehicle monitoring systems generally use a single camera to analyze the driver's face for drowsiness or distraction. More recent imaging sys- tems monitor the driver as well as the front passenger, but require several cameras. Mitsubishi Electric has refined this concept by developing a technology that uses just one wide-angle camera to identify both the face and hand gestures of driver and front passenger. This allows OEMs to offer a range of safety and personalization features at a lower cost. "Monitoring both front-seat occu- pants not only lets us check driver-centric safety behavior, but also allows us to sup- port additional gesture inputs for in-cab systems such as climate control or audio," says Mark Vogel, Senior Product Development Manager at Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America. "Providing a mix of safety and convenience features within the same monitoring system is critical as the line between those disci- plines continue to blur." With features in development to monitor upper body position and detect slumping or collapsing, this technology may soon be able to identify medical emergencies, such as a heart attack or stroke. In such circumstances, the vehicle could take immediate action by dialing emergency services or even rerouting to a Mitsubishi Electric (Cont'd. from p. 1) nearby hospital. Active safety monitoring systems like this will become especially important as we evolve toward the self- driving car.
