Convenience Retailer Show Daily Wednesday, October 18, 2017 4 Mediterranean Sauces Bring Excitement and Sales Sauces and spreads have become a popu- lar way to add sought-after ethnic excite- ment to everyday staples from sandwich- es to salads to even hot dogs. On-trend ethnic spreads like hummus, tzatziki and Greek feta were called by Technomic as "Trending Topping Options" to help boost burger sales, and similar trends have been seen with application to sand- wiches, salads and beyond. Since 2016, a number of quick serve restaurants and leading convenience stores have introduced new menu items featuring ethnic sauces and spreads. Hummus is used in items from wraps to salads and sandwiches, and is a great way to add a vegetarian protein with great fla- vor to a number of menu items. Tzatziki is another versatile sauce with applica- tion as a dip, salad dressing or sandwich addition. The simplicity of operational execu- tion makes sauces and spreads a conven- ient way to create a signature item or an exciting LTO to drive traffic. According to Technomic, 49 percent of away-from- home food consumers stated that a sauce with a unique or flavorful name can pique interest in ordering a par- ticular item. Unique features also drive traf- fic. According to a recent study by Datassential, 47 percent of Millennials and Gen Z will visit a partic- ular outlet for the purpose of ordering an LTO that caught their attention. Grecian Delight features a range of more than 14 different flavors and for- mats of Mediterranean sauces and spreads that are perfect for any made-to-order foodservice program or commissary application. But with 24 high-speed, energy- efficient XLERATOR ® Hand Dryers keeping its restrooms clean and green, one thing you won't find is paper towels. During the many restoration projects commenced after Grand Central Terminal was declared a historic land- mark in 1976, thoughtful planning was given to upgrading systems and integrat- ing energy-efficient and sustainable products. During one of the most recent restoration projects, special attention was paid to the restrooms throughout the facility. Despite routine cleaning and maintenance, the bathrooms, originally outfitted with paper towel dispensers, were often littered with errant waste and overflowing trash cans. The sinks and toilets regularly clogged due to improp- erly disposed of paper towels, a facilities nightmare. In addition, paper towels required increased labor to frequently fill the dispensers and empty the trash, and des- ignated storage space for sup- plies. Ultimately, XLERATOR Hand Dryers replaced paper towels throughout the public and office spaces of the terminal. Now, facil- ities professionals don't have to worry about paper towels ending up outside the garbage cans, clogging toilets, urinals or sinks. What's more – XLERATOR's touch-free, sensor-activated technology reduces touch points and significantly improves the overall user experience, and Continued on Page 49 Continued on Page 49 AN INDEPENDENT PUBLICATION NOT AFFILIATED WITH NACS Kimberly Oser Publisher Jules Denton Senior Associate Publisher Lorrie Baumann Editorial Director JoEllen Lowry • Jeanie Catron • Karrie Welborn Associate Editors Yasmine Brown Art Director Jonathan Schieffer Graphic Designer Caitlyn McGrath • Sarah Glenn Customer Service Managers Jay Watson • Hannah Stefanovich Show Logistics & Distribution John Pechota Sales Floor Manager Marcos Morhaim Senior Account Manager Andy Hartnett • Anthony Socci Kim Whiteman • Frank Wood Account Managers Tara Neal Director of Operations Enrico Cecchi European Sales Convenience Retailer Show Daily is published by Oser Communications Group ©2017 All rights reserved.
