The PRO series offers home cooks and profession- al chefs extraordinary value in a cutlery collection that's built to last. State-of-the-art lasers at WÜSTHOF's facilities in Germany ensure uniformity and precision of the PRO series' razor sharp blades, which are made of high-carbon, stain-free steel. Combining superi- or quality, technological advances and affordability, the PRO series offers chefs the confidence to equip their kitchen staff with the best performing stamped food- service cutlery. WÜSTHOF is a family-owned and managed company with a rich heritage that focuses on family, commitment, drive and life. The first WÜSTHOF fac- tory was listed as early as 1814 in official documents of the Duchy of Berg. Additionally, the famous "Trident" logo was first registered in 1895. With a proud tradition that spans seven genera- tions, WÜSTHOF continues to uphold its simple mission to create the finest cutlery WÜSTHOF (Cont'd. from p. 1) in the world. Long renowned as "The City of Blades," Solingen, Germany has earned the reputation of crafting the world's finest cutlery for generation after gener- ation. Located in Western Germany near the banks of the Wupper River, Solingen has been home to master blacksmiths for over 2,000 years. The many creeks and spillways of the river were perfectly suited to provide power for the production of blades in the 18th and 19th centuries. It was then, in the year of 1814, when WÜSTHOF first got its start in Solingen and the business has remained in the WÜSTHOF family ever since. Knives made in Solingen have long been honored and prized for their out- standing quality and craftsmanship. For that reason, the name of Solingen has been protected with legislation, "The Solingen Decree," so that this dedication to quality is maintained and that knives made in Solingen meet the most exacting standards. WÜSTHOF continues to call the picturesque city of Solingen its home, and proudly marks each blade as "Made in Solingen." The PRO series combines family tradition, technological advances, design and affordability, allowing chefs the confidence to equip their kitchen staff with the best performing stamped food- service cutlery. Need more storage and workspace on your cook line? The Universal Griddle Rail easily attaches to the front of most 36-inch griddles, creating a space for holding frequently used tools such as spatulas, grill scrapers and tongs, as well as food products like toppings, garnishes, squeeze bottles and shakers – all at arm's length. Unlike other griddle rails that are made for specific griddles, the Universal Griddle Rail adjusts to fit most griddle manufacturers and models, and it works with ninth-, sixth- and third-size steam table pans. In addition to the FMP booth, check out the Griddle Rail at the What's Hot! What's Cool! Product Gallery. Industry professionals working in the state of California have been clamor- ing for a carbon and grease cleaner that they can use in their state – and now they have it. Carbon Cure™ Carbon Remover is just what the doctor ordered for clean- ing ovens and cookware. Its fast-acting formula emulsifies and removes grease and carbon in minutes. Best of all, it's non-caustic, so it won't burn skin, and it works with minimal odor. Make sure you see the demonstration video and pick up FMP (Cont'd. from p. 1) a free sample. Preventing flatware from being acci- dentally discarded is an industry chal- lenge. The WareSnare™ is a new entry in the flatware retriever market. If the features don't catch you, the price point will. Rounding out the list is a new line of hand dryers. The Blast Dry™ boasts a drying time of just 10 to 15 seconds. It features an easy-to-clean filter and touch- free infrared sensor activation. The Drynado™ is a reach-in-type hand dryer that offers the same features as the Blast Dry. DA: Actually SHOPCO is new to the food equipment industry, with the excep- tion of drink counters and food prepara- tion counters in various convenience stores. We have been in business for more than 31 years, but have been focused on the convenience store market- place. We are known as one of the major suppliers of store fixtures, both counters and shelving, to the c-store market. FEN: How will the SHOPCO equipment appeal to the food equipment market? DA: The metal component counters that SHOPCO supplies to the c-store market are ideally suited for the food- service industry. Because our products are composed of standard components, we mass produce and inventory these components to drive down costs and yield one of the fastest lead times in the industry, yet the metal construction results in a cabinet that is much more durable and many times longer lasting than a typical wood counter. Metal results in a better return on investment and is simply a much better long term value. FEN: What about customized designs? DA: That's no problem. While the stan- dard components of our system can be combined in many different ways to cre- ate diverse designs, we are also able to custom manufacture products for high volume orders that have very specific Shopco USA (Cont'd. from p. 1) needs. We have designed metal cabinet bases for bakery case displays and spe- cial kiosk designs for food equipment manufacturers in the past. FEN: What about health code require- ments in the foodservice industry? DA: While our cabinets do not carry the NSF sticker, they are built to strict stan- dards for ease of cleaning and accessibil- ity. We have supplied our metal cabinets in thousands of c-stores in virtually every state in the country. The health depart- ments almost always prefer easily clean- able metal cabinets with removable bot- tom shelves to traditional wood cabinets. FEN: What are some of the possible applications in the foodservice industry? DA: We can be a supplier of counters to quick serve restaurants or a cabinet sup- plier to other food equipment manufactur- ers who need a cabinet for their equipment to sit on, or we can provide kiosk designs for food display in a mall type of setting. The versatility of our component system allows us to provide limitless designs from standard mass produced components (similar to the Lego concept). The mass production of standard components keeps cost low while allowing us to inventory those components for quick ship availabil- ity. The powder coated metal construction makes it a durable product. It's truly a win-win-win for anyone in need of a long lasting and versatile counter system.
