Consumer Electronics Daily News 5 5 Friday, January 6, 2017 Connected Systems are products to make your home or office safer and more secure. The Genesis Front Door Entry System with optional Finger Vein ID allows you to manage access remotely using the Genesis Smartphone app. Open the door remotely from your smartphone, send an electronic code to a guest allow- ing them access for predetermined days or times and get notifications when the kids have arrived home. The Genesis Front Door Entry System is also available with Finger Vein ID technology – Genesis Touch. Finger Vein ID technology goes well beyond fingerprint scanning – it analyzes the blood vessel or vascular pattern below the epidermal layer of your finger, and then using the unique matching algo- rithm, validates entry to only enrolled users. The Finger Vein ID system is much harder to fool and it requires the finger of a living person to authenticate. Simply touch the Genesis Scanner and then the science goes to work to determine if you are an enrolled user. A positive match SecuRam (Cont'd. from p. 1) sends a signal to the Genesis Touch to open immediately, allowing fast and secure access to your home or office. Genesis window and door sensors monitor openings and send you alerts when opened or closed, alerting you of potential security issues. Genesis flood sensors, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors help to keep your home or office safe and send you alerts if problems are detected. Genesis Safe Lock systems for per- sonal safes or gun safes allow you con- nected, controlled access to your most valuable possessions while keeping your family safe and secure. Need to provide access to your safe? Easy. Enter the code on your smartphone app and your safe automatically unlocks for six seconds back at home, allowing immediate access. Genesis Connected Systems – it's almost like being there…remote control and peace of mind at your fingertips. Creating tomorrow's solutions, today. I could be wait- ing for my train to go to work, or at lunch or at night when things have qui- eted down. I can play my virtual life on my mobile device, on my PC and in vir- tual reality. You and your avatar meet your friends in Next Island. You decide what you want to do today. I am going to first ride my virtual horse. I call him Fantasy. I will ride around the island, see what is going on, who has built mansions on the beach. Maybe I will do that soon. One of my favorite things is to time travel. Today I am going to go to Jurassic Island, where the dinosaurs live, and go on a quest. I am trying to tame a dinosaur, but today I am going to look for new breeds around the Jurassic Island. Look out for the T-Rex. Next my avatar will time travel to Coney Island, Steeplechase Park, during the years when it was the world's play- ground. Yum, I can smell the cotton candy! Next Island (Cont'd. from p. 1) Going to ride the Cyclone in virtual reality with my friends. Screaming is permitted. I have my own business here. I am a pilot of a plane that takes visitors around the islands. I am starting to make a little gold. I am meeting with a corporation that has joined Next Island and wants to discuss putting their logo on my plane. Tonight, to end my virtual day, I will go to DJ Karin's Club to hear great mixes, dance and meet some new avatars. It is a great way to blow off a little virtu- al steam. Tomorrow is a new day with many other things to do. Yes, there are quests to win a billionaire's life, and dangers to avoid or meet head on. Just like Jake Sully in "Avatar" and Wade Watts in "Ready Player One," their virtual lives are better than their real lives. Maybe yours will be better, too. Escape to Next Island's virtual worlds. BL: As a technology leader, mCube aspires to be the enabler for the Internet of Moving Things (IoMT) by putting a MEMS motion sensor on anything that moves, improving the way consumers live and interact with technology. CEDN: What's IoMT? BL: Some analysts predict more than 50 billion devices will be connected to the Internet by 2020 and a large percentage of those devices will be in motion. From smartphones and tablets to smart clothing and wearables, mCube is enabling a new era called the "Internet of Moving Things," where the movement and con- text of everyday objects and devices can be measured, monitored and analyzed, generating valuable data and insights that will transform consumer experiences. CEDN: What is mCube's differentiating technology? BL: Our award-winning 3D monolithic single-chip MEMS+CMOS technology. With the mCube approach, the MEMS sensors are fabricated directly on top of IC electronics in a standard CMOS fabri- cation facility. Advantages of this mono- lithic approach include smaller size, higher performance, lower cost and the ability to integrate multiple sensors onto a single chip. CEDN: Tell our readers about the need for a three-axis accelerometer in IoT and wearable applications, or what you refer to as IoMT. BL: Ever since we introduced our new IoMT motion sensor product, we've had customers all over the world approaching us, telling us that they need to use mCube (Cont'd. from p. 1) mCube, because no other accelerometer in the market can meet their needs for either small size or low power. So now we're putting more energy in expanding in this IoMT area, leveraging our tech- nology leadership. CEDN: In addition to the sensor, how is mCube adding value to customer proj- ects? BL: We are working on helping customers solve system level problems. We found that to get the total system power con- sumption down, it's really a combination of sensor, algorithm and system integra- tion working altogether with the MCU. I think we know better than a lot of MCU companies about what it takes for an MCU to be low power at a system level. We have customers come to us and say "Wow, you've solved 90 percent of our problems, why don't we just license the whole solution from you." I think that's the key: find ways with specific applica- tions to add value at a system level. CEDN: You are able to compete with big existing players by focusing on power consumption, size, packaging and offer- ing great solutions. What are your key advantages, your strengths? BL: mCube's key advantage is our tech- nology leadership. Our latest three-axis accelerometer features the industry's lowest power consumption and the world's first microscopic 1.1x1.3 mm Chip Scale Package (CSP). The new MC3672 will enable developers to design a complete three-axis inertial solution, with only a single resistor, in less than eight square mm of space on a printed circuit board. The ultra-thin pro- file of 0.7 mm and small footprint will enable designers to integrate inertial sensing into the next generation of wearables, hearing aids and medical devices. The Blade 3000 has been honored with four CES Innovation Awards for innova- tive design and engineering as well as for blending fashion and technology. The Blade 3000 is designed for prosumer and office enterprise applica- tions, with significantly improved dis- play resolution, ergonomics, computing power and sensor technologies. It's like having your computer or smartphone screen information with you wherever you go. It does it all with style and per- formance, providing immediate heads- up access to information that wearers would normally have to view by look- ing down at their smartphone or smart watch. Never before has a product been designed where you can see overlaid information, indoors or out, such as patient data, GPS mapping directions, Vuzix (Cont'd. from p. 1) restaurant menus, weather information, alerts and more without picking up a second screen. Truly revolutionary, the Blade 3000 is a perfect companion to a smartphone, allowing users to keep their phone in their pockets for almost everything. The Blade 3000 supports WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity for standalone or smartphone connected use, wireless- ly displaying virtual information – sim- ilar in many ways to a smart watch. You can also view social media mes- saging, text, maps, notifications and more from both Android and iOS smartphones. It's designed specifically for the exploding digital information world that wants mobile access any- where, anytime. For more information, visit www.vuzix.com or stop by booth #13246.
