However, none of these marketing mediums make their way into the American household as reliably as direct mail. From holiday coupons to political campaign ads, the U.S. Postal Service™ maintains an incredibly powerful and increasingly sophisticated marketing channel. Even in today's digital world, con- sumers still appreciate receiving letter mail. By cutting through the clutter of television and digital advertising, direct mail puts the marketer's message in the palm of their customer's hand. Increasingly, analytics and tracking are used to help marketers gain consumer behavior insights. The Postal Service is also expanding the ways mailers can reach their audi- ences. This year, the Postal Service is rolling out one of its newest and most innovative features: Informed Delivery. This free, optional feature provides par- ticipating customers with daily email notifications c o n t a i n i n g g r a y s c a l e images of the outside of letter-sized mail pieces expected to be delivered soon. In bringing physical mail into cus- tomers' daily digital routine, Informed Delivery has the potential to build antici- pation, increase open rates and even improve return on investment. This is part of the Postal Service's long-term strategy to increase the value of mail in today's digital world. Informed Delivery gives business mailers an unprecedented opportunity to interact with subscribers in innova- tive ways.
