MANAGING PHARMACEUTICAL REVERSE LOGISTICS By Jeff Pepperworth, President, Inmar Healthcare Network Managing reverse logistics in the phar- maceutical industry can be a nightmare for companies not equipped with the tools, processes and regulatory expertise to navigate what can seem like a mine- field. Challenges are myriad, touching every point from physical processing to financial settlement and disposition man- agement. Too often, in the effort to avoid the risk of heavy fines from regulatory violations, companies choose all-encom- passing destruction practices for pharma- ceutical product returns. While such practices may result in minimal or no violations, they can also result in missed opportunities to recoup cost through manufacturer credit.
