R e s t a u r a n t D a i l y N e w s S a t u r d a y, M a y 1 6 , 2 0 1 5 1 4 KUVINGS INTRODUCES COMMERCIAL-READY WHOLE SLOW JUICER PRO Kuvings has introduced the world's first commercial-ready vertical low-speed masticating juicer, the Whole Slow Juicer Pro, for use in restaurants, health food stores, food market juice bars and other retail applications. The Whole Slow Juicer Pro can extract juice continuously for up to eight hours, for up to 1,000 glasses of fresh juice. The Whole Slow Juicer Pro expands the Slow Juicer line from Kuvings, the brand name for NUC Electronics, a com- pany founded in 1978 specializing in kitchen electronics for health and nutri- tion-conscious consumers. The popular Whole Slow Juicer, introduced last year, has garnered enthusiastic reviews from juicing experts and the media and has been reviewed by Consumer Reports. The Whole Slow Juicer Pro, which will be demonstrated at booth #4673 at the National Restaurant Association Show, will be available this sum- mer at kuvings.com. Like the Whole Slow Juicer, the Pro model also features an industry-first 3.5-inch feeding tube. With the wide-mouth feed- ing tube, users can crush and squeeze whole vegetables and fruits, producing a glass of deli- cious fresh juice in just seconds. It also prevents unwanted oxida- tion from cutting that often caus- es a loss in nutritional value. The patent- ed system extracts the nutrients in fruits and vegetables enabling the body to obtain four times more nutrition than by eating fruits whole. And the Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer Pro can tackle the toughest produce, due to its powerful 240-watt, low- speed motor. The heavy duty brush- less motor, manufactured by Kuvings, minimizes friction and noise, for cool, quiet and stable operation. The Whole Slow Juicer Pro han- dles big batches, with its large-capaci- ty, 500ml bowl, and comes with a con- venient Smart Cap to prevent drips and enable creation of mixed juices. Other features include a dual safety system and special cleaning tools to make cleaning fast and easy. SAVE MONEY AND INCREASE EFFICIENCY WITH ICE LINK Labor cost continues to increase, and with operators facing minimum wage requirements cost will continue to esca- late. Ice Link can help. Successful business people know that "every activity of an employee has associated cost." Save your company $10,000 per year and stop your employ- ees from lugging bucket after bucket of ice to dispensers. Ice Link is a high speed automatic sanitary ice delivery system that leads to labor efficiency as well as employee safety and cleanliness. Ice Link automat- ically moves any type of ice at a speed of 30 feet per second and up to four stories vertical and 350 feet horizontal. If you currently are manually filling IBDs with ice buckets, Ice Link can dra- matically reduce labor cost by as much as $10,000 annually and free up employees for other responsibilities. Let your employees spend time serving your customers. This figure is based on man- ually transporting 800 pounds of ice used per day for drink dispensers and cold plate ice. At 17/18 pounds of ice capacity per ice bucket, it will take 45.7 bucket fills per day to transport 800 pounds to beverage dispenser(s). On average, each ice bucket requires 3.6 minutes to fill and transport to drink dispensers as per the "Drill" sequence listed below. This adds up to 164 minutes per day. A $10.00 an hour employee costs 17 cents per minute, times 164 minutes per day to transport ice, which totals $27.88 per day for labor. Annual labor cost (360) days of manual ice transport equals $10,037.00. The Drill: (1) Check the ice level in the dispensers; (2) Find the ice bucket and scoop; (3) Scoop ice into bucket; (4) Carry 17/18 pounds of ice per bucket the dispenser; (5) Get a ladder; (6) Take off lid of the dispenser; (7) Fill the dispenser over and over and over again with each trip taking approximately 3.6 minutes. Reference: A 30" dispenser holds approximately 250 pounds of ice, 22" dispenser holds 180 pounds, Drop In holds 100 pounds, Freestyle holds 195 pounds and Freestyle Crew Serve holds 100 pounds. A given location may be using all or some of the above dispensers, but ice usage of 800 pounds per day remains constant. For more information, visit booth #2440 or call 714.744.9080.
