C o n s t r u c t i o n M a r k e t p l a c e T h u r s d a y, J a n u a r y 2 2 , 2 0 1 5 6 0 and angle stops in the bathroom, to deco- rative sink strainers, disposer flanges, water filters and water filtration faucets, and instant hot dispensers in the kitchen – which are the products you can use to wow and delight customers. These products are needed when a kitchen or bath project is almost done, and the only thing that is left is to put a finishing touch to make it absolutely complete and stunning. Mountain's products fill every hole in and around a kitchen sink, bathroom sink or bathtub in functional, elegant and innova- tive ways that many consumers don't even know exist. In short, the company offers prod- ucts to create a wow factor quickly, pain- lessly and with predictably outstanding results. The trick is not to miss that magic "finishing touch" phase in project speci- fication. With 32 years experience in plumbing, 29 of which is decorative, and 17 years as President and CEO of Geberit North America, Bruce Reidel is the per- fect man to lead the charge. Now President of Mountain Plumbing Products, Bruce likes to say, "Take the initiative in your own hands. Mountain gives you the products and expertise to make just the right selec- tion for a particular application. Forgetting about accessories equates to losing an opportunity not only for a sale, but also for surprising and delight- ing your customer." Mountain has 32 finishes, some of them rare and exotic, and is proud of its finish quality and variety, not readily found among its competitors. Bruce says the company's finishes are designed to Mountain Plumbing (Cont'd. from p. 1) blend with product finishes of major plumbing brands, which makes the matching process simple and convenient. "Big box is not our market," explained Bruce. "We value showrooms and wholesalers because they are doing a great job at developing the knowledge and expertise needed to sell our products. Our ideal customer is the one that comes to do a complete kitchen or bath, and that's more likely in a showroom setting. We rely on showroom consultants to expose their customers to Mountain's products and make product recommendations." Bruce also stresses that in the era of Internet shops and discounts, partnering with Mountain makes good business sense. The company doesn't sell to Internet shoppers because, as a rule, this consumer category has limited incomes and strict budgets. "They don't need our high-quality, luxury accessories so our manufacturer's loyalty stays with show- rooms," points out Bruce. "Plus, the Internet can provide information about a product, but won't tell you how to put it together as showroom consultants would. That's the most important thing." Mountain Plumbing Products was founded in 1997 in partnership with Scotland-based McAlpine and Company Ltd., a leader in high-quality plumbing products sold in European markets. Its U.S. headquarters is at DFW Airport, Texas. At 17 years old, Mountain has never rested on its laurels. It continues to innovate in a constant search for new product types and designs. GB: Amvic Building System is the most innovative manufacturer of high-quality expanded polystyrene [EPS] products in the construction industry. Amvic prod- ucts include Insulated Concrete Forms [ICF]. Amvic ICFs are hollow, light- weight, stay-in-place forms made of two panels of EPS that are connected by 100 percent recycled plastic webs. The forms are stacked together and steel reinforce- ment [rebar] is installed; the wall is braced and then filled with concrete, which creates a stable, energy-efficient and sustainable structure. AmDeck ® Floor and Roof System is a modular, lightweight, stay-in-place form made of EPS that is used to construct insu- lated concrete floors and roofs. The system utilizes 10-inch, lightweight steel framing studs, which carry the temporary construc- tion loads until the concrete gains its required strength. The studs then act as fur- ring strips to which interior finishes can be attached. The AmDeck system perfectly complements an Amvic ICF structure, and together they provide a complete structur- al and thermal 'building envelope.' CM: How has Amvic endured the eco- nomic slowdown over the last couple of years and what are you doing to help with the recovery in the residential building industry? GB: Certainly, as with all manufacturers in the building material industry, the last cou- ple of years have been extremely challeng- ing for Amvic. The economic downturn has hit the residential homebuilding industry harder than most other segments of con- struction. One of the positives of these chal- lenging times is that it has allowed many in Amvic Building System (Cont'd. from p. 1) our industry to look for more sustainable, environmentally friendly and energy-effi- cient building products as we start to recov- er from this downturn. Insulated concrete forms are an ideal solution for today's need for energy-efficient homes. CM: How does Amvic's ICF and AmDeck floor system contribute to sus- tainable 'green building' practices and energy efficient homes and buildings? GB: The Amvic Insulated Concrete Form [ICF] and AmDeck floor and roof systems offer builders and home owners true 'green building products' critical in today's eco- nomic and environmental climate. Buildings constructed with ICF benefit from significant noise reduction, consis- tent temperature and are not conducive to rot or mildew growth, thereby contributing to the comfort and health of inhabitants. Amvic ICF is manufactured using steam – no CFCs, HCFCs, formaldehyde, VOC or other harmful chemicals. Amvic products are well-engineered, energy-efficient, environmentally friend- ly and easy to use. The innovative designs and unique features make them the best choice for your next residential or com- mercial building project. Amvic building products are also recognized as a 'green building' product: Amvic ICF can con- tribute up to 20 points toward LEED cer- tification, as proven by a third party prod- uct assessment. We continually strive to incorporate your needs into the design of our products to provide strong, safe, sus- tainable and energy efficient structures. We can say with confidence that you will build to a higher standard with Amvic.
