C o n s t r u c t i o n M a r k e t p l a c e T h u r s d a y, J a n u a r y 2 2 , 2 0 1 5 3 6 CREATIVE MINES BRINGS PASSION, CREATIVITY TO MASONRY VENEER MARKET When it comes to masonry veneer, builders want a company experienced at collaborating with the building and archi- tectural communities, where new con- cepts excite, and combine with decades of experience to yield the perfect product made with superior materials and indus- try-leading technology. Creative Mines, based in Encinitas, Calif., combines expertise, creativity and exceptional materials into a complete package. Great builders will tell you it starts with the materials, and Creative Mines' products are manufactured near the world's purest source of pumice. Using recently rediscovered science, the process combines pure white, natural pumice pozzolan with 70 percent post- industrial content and other proprietary ingredients. Builders get products that are crafted to aesthetically and technical- ly outperform the competition, without the use of smokestack fly ash. Whether a traditional or a more con- temporary design, the company offers a constantly evolving variety of products that meet every exterior cladding need. While much goes into the development of each product, the end result perfectly suits the authenticity of age-old traditional building stone, or the more contemporary architectural style evolving currently. With the modern architect's rallying cry suggest- ing that "less is more," Creative Mines' handcrafted Contemporary product line tends to be topographically smoother, mod- ular and tinted more monochromatically than the company's traditional craft stone. "When you create an environment for yourself or your client, you want only the most authentic veneer products," explained Mike Lewis, President at Creative Mines. "If it is your office, your home, your space, the last thing you want is for it to look like Disneyland." Creative Mines artisans painstakingly select the most beautiful stone for every profile; colors found in nat- ural settings are integrally hand-applied in a way that invites the mixing of color blends. "This process creates a versatile palette other stone producers simply do not offer," Lewis explained. More than its raw materials, creativ- ity and technical know-how, Creative Mines relies on the enthusiasm of its team. With decades of experience in the industry, the company's innovators bring a true passion for masonry veneer to every new product and application. The company's perfect blend of experience, knowledge, youth and energy brings per- fect products to builders nationwide. ZIPFAST: NOW THERE'S A GREENER ALTERNATIVE TO DISPOSABLE PLASTIC SHEETING ZipWall has just introduced ZipFast Reusable Barrier Panels for use with its spring-loaded poles and accessories. Machine-washable ZipFast panels are made of tough opaque nylon and feature sewn-in, heavy-duty zippers. Unlike plastic, ZipFast panels require no meas- uring or cutting, so they quickly and easily zip together, allowing the con- struction of a dust barrier up to 12' high and as wide as needed. Serving as a green alternative to disposable plastic sheeting, they save money, too, paying for themselves in less than 10 uses. And, unlike plastic, ZipFast panels provide privacy on the job while hiding messy areas. ZipFast panels come in Multi-Packs which include three 5' wide panels, one 2.5' panel that can serve as an entryway, and a carry bag. Panels also come in sin- gle packs. A Class A flame retardant ver- sion is available. The non-flame-retar- dant panels have a 10-year limited war- ranty. Jeff Whittemore, ZipWall President said, "Our customers have been looking for an alternative to plastic and now we are able to provide them with this profes- sional-looking solution. ZipFast panels save time and money and you always have what you need when you get to the job site. There's no need to buy plastic sheeting ever again." The ZipWall system is specifically designed to let one person erect a dust barrier in minutes with no tape, no lad- ders and no damage. The spring-loaded, twist-locking poles are remarkably easy to use. The clever head and plate design makes attaching ZipFast panels to the top of the poles a snap. A ZipWall dust barrier saves time and money because it goes up quickly and drastically reduces the post-job cleanup effort. And, by providing a posi- tive customer experience it can lead to more referrals. About ZipWall ZipWall manufactures and sells ZipWall Barrier System Products designed specif- ically to aid dust containment in con- struction, restoration, remediation, abate- ment, painting and other messy job sites. HELPING REDUCE LIABILTY FOR BUILDERS Quickflash Weatherproofing Products recently expanded its line of flashing pan- els for exterior wall penetrations and pro- trusions to include the Quickflash A/C Line Set Squared and Brick Flashing Panel. (Part Numbers A/C U-S, A/C 150-B and A/C 250-B) Quickflash is the first and only company in the world to patent and provide a custom flashing solution that is made specifically for A/C Freon line sets that penetrate the vertical walls of a struc- ture to help prevent mold and mildew. Typically, a roof vent or sheet metal flashing is used for these applications but these methods present significant liabili- ty problems for builders and contractors because: 1. Roof vent flashing manufacturers do not warranty their products for verti- cal wall applications thus placing all of the liability on builders and contractors if/when the products fail over time. 2. Sheet metal flashings are made from galvanized steel which is incompati- ble with copper Freon lines and will cause electrolysis when they come in direct con- tact which can result in Freon leaks. 3. Most roof vent flashings and sheet metal flashings do not seal around the line set and require additional tape, caulk, or mastics to create a weatherproof seal. These sealants require maintenance and break down over time and with exposure to the elements and UV rays, sometimes causing holes large enough for pests like mice and insects to enter the wall cavity. Quickflash's new A/C Line Set flash- ing panel solves all of these problems. Made from a UV inhibited com- pound, these panels are non-corrosive and non-conductive and are designed to with- stand decades of UV exposure. They come with Quickflash's standard 10 year limited warranty and have a built in recessed seal to provide maximum protection from moisture, air and pest infiltrations. In addi- tion, the A/C Line Set flashing panels are designed to eliminate all of the mainte- nance associated with the tape, caulk and mastics used with other methods. Besides the functionality improve- ments, Quickflash panels are also more aesthetically pleasing with a "cleaner" installation and professional look once installed. The panels have been designed with a ready to paint surface so it can match any exterior façade color. With the price being comparable to the existing methods, Quickflash's A/C Line Set flashing panels will reduce builder and contractor liability for air and moisture intrusion as well as reduce the number of warranty issues and call backs.
