C o n s u m e r E l e c t ro n i c s D a i l y N e ws 7 1 M o n d a y, J a n u a r y 5 , 2 0 1 5 AMA SYSTEMS GLOBAL TRADING: THE SCHOOL OF 'YES' AMA Systems Global Trading is a glob- al supplier and trader of the most sought- after brands in the world – names like Apple, Kindle, GoPro, Canon, Sony, Nikon, Beats by Dr. Dre, Fitbit, Jawbone, The Big Green Egg and many more. "If you would take your house and turn it upside down and shake it, just about any- thing that falls out, we supply," said AMA Systems CEO Ted Argeroplos. For clients, that means that AMA Systems operates almost like a buying group, except that there's no fee to join. Items are in stock in warehouses in in Columbia, Md., where the company is headquartered, and from Dayton, Ohio, and orders are usually fulfilled within 24 hours. If the company is temporarily out of stock for a high-demand item, a com- pany representative will notify you of the situation immediately. "We're big com- municators, and we're always ready to pick up the phone – we'll never leave you hanging," Argeroplos said. "You can use us to work with you so you can have a bigger offering, and you can work off our inventory instead of having to take your own positions. In addition, our buying power is so great that we can offer you great pricing for your programs." While the products in stock are high- ly sought-after as they come from the manufacturer, AMA Systems also offers its customers the opportunity to cus- tomize and personalize them to create a unique offering that will appeal to cus- tomers who are shopping for corporate gifts as well as to retailers who are look- ing to distinguish themselves from the competition. "We can do bundling so that if you want to offer your customers a package containing a special assortment of products, we can put that together for you," Argeroplos said. "We can do engraving and full-color printing, so that if you have a customer that needs corpo- rate gifts, we can put together something really special with your name and logo on it. We can actually do downloads of video or music on products if needed, so if you want to sell your customers a tablet with your advertising jingle or an instruc- tional video preloaded onto it, that's pos- sible. Anything you can dream up, we can do." The key to this kind of red-carpet service is the close working relationship between AMA Systems and the manufac- turers who build the products. Those relationships mean that AMA Systems has access to close-out merchandise that's not ordinarily available to small retailers and other clients. "We're a glob- al company with the capabilities to deliv- er anywhere in the world," Argeroplos added. "We are in the school of yes, not in the school of no. We're not a square peg-square hole company. We have tens of thousands of customers and they all want things different, and we're fine with that. That has been a big part of our suc- cess." BRAEMAR ENERGY VENTURES INVESTS IN 3D-PRINTING INNOVATOR Venture Capital Company Braemar Energy Ventures has invested in Voxel8, creator of the world's first multi-material 3D electronics printer capable of printing embedded electronics and other novel devices. Voxel8, founded by Dr. Jennifer A. Lewis, Wyss Professor of Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University, is commercializing a new platform for 3D printing including func- tional materials, printing hardware and intelligent software. The company enables designers and engineers to create products with embedded 3D electronics for the first time. Lewis and her team are building on the foundational patents pre- viously generated at The University of Illinois and Harvard University. "Voxel8 is pushing the limits of the design and manufacturing of electronic devices with a 3D printing platform that enables users to move beyond the proto- type printing phase. The company's tech- nology enables the mass customization of smart devices in new form factors without the cost and waste of the tradi- tional supply chain," said Dr. Jiong Ma, Partner at Braemar Energy Ventures, "Braemar is thrilled to support Dr. Lewis and her talented team in the early stages of Voxel8's growth." "I am excited to leverage over a decade of research to transform the way devices are manufactured," Lewis said. "Through the support of investors like Braemar, we are able to bring our ground-breaking technology to the mass market." Voxel8 is exhibiting at 2015 International CES.
