C o n s u m e r E l e c t ro n i c s D a i l y N e ws M o n d a y, J a n u a r y 5 , 2 0 1 5 6 6 SIGHT APP BRINGS COMPELLING PHOTOGRAPHY TO WINDOWS PHONE Sight, from Camera360 is a brand new cam- era app for the Windows Phone platform. As of December 2014, Camera360 now has more than 350 million users across Android, iOS and Windows Phone platforms. With Sight, Camera360 aims to create a new mobile photography experience to bring an enhanced and more compelling visual expe- rience for Windows Phone users. The new Sight app fully utilizes Windows Phone camera hardware to cap- ture personal moments, while simultane- ously providing users with an intuitive photo browsing and editing experience. Packed with over 80 professional and unique features including an auto/manual focus system, gesture activated assistance tool bar and customized real-time filters, Sight provides creative and easy-to-use camera functions. Additionally, Sight's album feature comes with powerful editing and previewing tools to offer superior artis- tic control over your personal moments. In developing Sight, Camera360 went back to the drawing board to under- stand more about what users care about and how to convert user desires into real- ity on the WP platform. "Sight was redesigned from the inside out so that it could achieve the most intuitive user experience while also maximizing hard- ware optimization for the majority of Windows Phone models. We hope that Sight can become a seamless digital extension of your vision and help you to better process and capture your personal experiences and life moments," said Xu Hao, CEO of Camera360. Since Camera360′s launch on the Android platform in 2010, Camera360 continues to expand its enhanced mobile photography experience to more platforms and devices. "It is real- ly exciting for us to be able to bring a completely new product to the Windows Phone. Previously, we had a strategic partnership with Nokia for pre-installs to bring out the full poten- tial of the Lumia camera. Now, togeth- er with Microsoft, we believe that Sight will create new opportunities for Camera360 as more users adopt Windows Phone," Xu added. Sight is also integrated with Cortana, Microsoft's voice command system. A simple "Take a selfie!" will launch the Sight app and auto switch to the front camera. For the next version, Camera360 plans to further integrate and embed Sight into a universal Windows app. Due to drastic differences in product concepts and design, the previous Camera360 app on the Windows Store will continue to be supported but not updated. Sight is available as a free download on the Windows Store. APIRA SCIENCE DISPLAYS IDERMA FACIAL BEAUTIFICATION SYSTEM PROTOTYPE Apira Science, an established leader in aesthetic light based therapies, will be displaying its patented iDerma Facial Beautification System prototype at this year's International CES ® . Coming on the heels of Apira's 2014 FDA clearances for their innovative home-use iGrow Hair Growth System, the iDerma Facial Beautification System will be the first in a line of wearable pho- totherapy devices created to address com- mon skin conditions such as fine lines and wrinkles, acne and skin lightening. The Facial Beautification System is part of a family of three patented, full face coverage, wearable phototherapy devices from Apira Science and was developed to enhance the overall skin condition, make it look more supple and radiant and diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and rhytoids. Both red and infrared LED light ther- apy reverses and improves the visible signs of aging by stimulating deep cellular regeneration, and the 660nm and 940nm wavelengths used in the iDerma Facial Beautification have been shown to enhance the appearance of the skin as well as increase the production of collagen. The iDerma combines more than 140 red and infrared LEDs with both nar- row and wide angle lenses to cover the entire facial surface and provide consis- tent therapeutic light therapy sessions. Utilizing Derma Pulse technology, this full face coverage system has been designed to replicate the "LED Photo Facial" treatments wide- ly used by skincare profession- als in spas, salons and medical offices for many years. Consistency is very important for the best results with Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT), and the iDerma is the perfect alternative to handheld and tabletop systems whose incon- venient usage characteristics diminish LLLT's beneficial effects. Apira Science is also launching a crowd-funding campaign for this amaz- ing new product on IndieGogo, which started on December 30. Since Apira's primary focus at this stage for iDerma will be form and function, this campaign will enable Apira to have a one-on-one relationship with initial users and receive first-hand feedback regarding their iDerma experience. Since launching its iGrow Hair Growth System, the compa- ny has received hundreds of letters of thanks from consumers who have successfully conquered their hair-loss challenges, and with iDerma, the company wants to have immediate access to the success stories they're a part of. LLLT is an amazing technology with myriad ben- efits, including helping heal wounds, relieve pain and regrow hair as well as treat a wide range of skin-related conditions from wrinkles and acne to sun and age spots. As strong user compliance with phototherapy leads to long-lasting aesthetic results, Apira Science has built its business on develop- ing and patenting unique applications that make phototherapy an easy, pleasant experience. CONNECTED MULTIMEDIA RECEIVER GETS IMPROVED MAPPING, MIRACAST COMPATIBILITY Kenwood USA, producer of premium in-vehicle mobile electronics products, is introducing the successor to its popu- lar DNN991HD connected receiver at the 2015 International CES ® . The DNN992 improves upon last year's model with updated mapping software by Garmin™, parking guides for a con- nected rear-view camera, better source multitasking and the ability to wireless- ly play smartphone-based audio and video using Kenwood's KCA-WL100 Miracast dongle. "Our goal with the DNN series has been to lead the industry in bringing con- nected services safely to the driver," said Tony Mercado, Marketing Manager for Kenwood. "Using our proprietary server, we can quickly deliver entertainment, communications and information to the DNN unit and employ the latest in voice, display and touch technology to let the driver interact while staying focused on the road." The DNN992 by Kenwood lever- ages the connected experience to provide users with safe, intuitive delivery of Web-based information. In addition to standard features offered by an in-dash radio, the DNN992 uses its Wi-Fi con- nection or broadband access via connect- ed smartphone to deliver next-generation drive-centric data. The built-in naviga- tion system is bolstered with information from INRIX, including weather, dynamic traffic flow, fuel locations and pricing and local search for amenities. In addi- tion, the DNN992 features direct-access apps to play Internet-based content from iHeartRadio™ and Aupeo. The DNN992 keeps users safely connected to email, social media contacts and scheduled appointments. Built-in browsers work with a user's Facebook, Twitter, Gmail and Google Calendar accounts, letting the user send and receive updates via voice. But connectivity doesn't apply only to Internet-based services. The double- DIN chassis with 7-inch capacitive touch screen accommodates a multitude of internal and add-on media sources. Connect up to two cameras (front and rear) to aid in maneuvering, and avoid obstacles when backing up with on- screen parking lines. The DNN992 is also SiriusXM-Ready™ and connects to the latest SiriusXM SXV300 Connect Vehicle Tuner (sold separate- ly, subscription required), giv- ing drivers access to S i r i u s X M ® content via satellite. Built in HD Radio also gives the driver access to premium over-the-air content, and slots for CD/DVD and SD cards let them bring their own media to the vehicle. Dual USB ports enable direct con- nection of an iPod ® , iPhone ® or USB storage drive to play back and control selection of music. For a more immersive experience with the smartphone, the DNN992 includes an HDMI input that also supports MHL (Mobile High- Definition Link) technology to give the user access to, and interaction with, com- patible apps on select Android™ smart- phones or the iPhone, such as Pandora ® and TuneIn Radio ® , through the multi- media receiver's screen. The HDMI/MHL connection also allows video content on the smartphone to play on the DNN992 or a connected rear-seat monitor. The DNN992 delivers a premium audio experience from any connected or inbuilt source. Its 13-band equalizer and digital signal processor balance sound to the driver's preference, and the Drive EQ+ function compensates for road noise by raising certain frequen- cies. Bluetooth functionality is infused with aptX, a sound processing technolo- gy that restores audio fre- quencies lost in the trans- mission of wireless audio. For system expansion, three sets of high-voltage, pre- amplified outputs can connect to external front, rear and subwoofer amplifiers. The DNN992 will ship in January with an MSRP of $1,400.
