W i r e l e s s W o r l d 3 9 W e d n e s d a y, M a y 2 2 , 2 0 1 3 INTELLIGENT POWER MANAGEMENT SOLUTION ENSURES DELIVERY OF SERVICES An interview with Clint Pingleton, Director of Distributed Power WW: Tell our readers about your company. CP: Telmar Network Technology is a provider of intelligent power solutions, green energy technologies, wireless pro- fessional services, forward and reverse logistics, warehousing, and spare manage- ment services to an expanding network of global telecommunications service providers. Telmar is a wholly owned sub- sidiary of Jabil Circuit, Inc. (NYSE: JBL). WW: What would you say makes your company unique? CP: Telmar helps our customers achieve higher returns on their network investments while delivering improved end-user experience and network per- formance with Telmar's intelligent power and network support solutions. We take great pride in adding value to our customer's bottom line. Our green technology solutions go well beyond field installation or network mainte- nance. Telmar's turnkey power man- agement solutions help network service providers reduce operational expendi- tures, increase network resiliency and stay at the forefront of FCC edicts. WW: What do you anticipate to be your greatest challenge in the year ahead? CP: Hurricane Katrina and Super Storm Sandy recently exposed network weaknesses associated with the service provider's over-reliance on grid ener- gy. Consequently, an awareness was generated for the need to make the backup power systems for telecommu- nications sites, both wireline and wire- less, more robust. We anticipate the FCC will strongly encourage, if not mandate, network service providers power a percentage of their wireless networks by utilizing renewable ener- gy sources, increase site standby power and meet Network Outage Reporting System (NORS) and Disaster Information Reporting System (DIRS) requirements. A chal- lenge we face is finding a balanced approach that meets FCC requirements and exceeds our customers' expecta- tions at a price point that is both com- petitive and scalable. WW: Where is your current product emphasis? CP: Telmar 's power management products provide cost-effective solu- tions for serv- ice providers to solve the inef- ficiencies they e x p e r i e n c e with cell site power manage- ment, informa- tion collection and renewable energy technologies. Therefore, Telmar is focused on providing our customers with turnkey power solutions for both on- and off-grid applications. Our cell site power management and control solutions incorporate solar, wind, and advanced energy storage. Our solution also provides generator management, fuel status with theft alarm reporting, environmental (HVAC) control, site ground monitoring, and lead acid (VRLA) optimization for both on and off-grid applications. WW: What products do you see as being hottest this year? CP: I strongly believe the PowerOasis Smarthub is the hottest product for 2013. What makes this product so unique is its OEM and energy agnos- tic approach to power management, control, and reporting. The Smarthub is built around predictive algorithms and includes power load characteris- tics allowing it to switch between grid and off-grid power sources as well as real time and/or tariff based pricing. The PowerOasis system gives wire- less service providers access to a robust cell site monitoring and control device while allow- ing an upgrade path for time-of-use or tariff-based utility pricing. WW: Who are your target end-users? CP: Whether the motivation is a per- ceived mandate as a result of global climate change, FCC edicts, or just the "green technology" trend, the SmartHub is the perfect solution for network carriers, both public and pri- vate. Not only does it ensure network durability and service delivery to end users, even after a disaster or power outage, the SmartHub's capabilities are the reason why Telmar is focused on being a holistic power and monitoring solutions supplier for wireless service providers. WW: To what do you attribute your com- pany's success? CP: Telmar's unique combination of global expertise, in-depth industry knowledge, ingenuity, analytics and financial performance has contributed to the success of the world's most well-known service providers and tele- com OEMs. For more information, visit online at www.telmarnt.com, call 972-836-0411, email power@telmarnt.com, or stop by booth 4360 at CTIA to see a live demonstration. RW: Our long-time factory relation- ships allow us to efficiently create innovative accessories in the shortest amount of time possible. We have cre- ated a unique blend of everyday acces- sories, combined with a lineup of accessories that are innovative and on the cutting edge. WW: Are you introducing new prod- ucts? RW: We recently introduced our award winning iGlowSoundPro Bluetooth speaker system to create an instant dance party atmosphere wherever you are. It's been very well received with a great deal of excitement by our retail partners. We are also releasing our newest Bluetooth headset/headphone product – the BT2000 – that gives you a great sounding Bluetooth headphone at an affordable price. WW: Where is your current product emphasis? RW: Our current focus is on expand- ing our Bluetooth and other wireless connected accessories. Our line of high quality Bluetooth speakers has grown this year and we continue to introduce additional Bluetooth head- phones, headsets and speakers, as well as Bluetooth receivers that can turn your home or car sound system into a Dreamgear (Cont'd. from p. 1) Bluetooth wireless device. WW: What distinguishes your products from the competition? RW: Our great attention to making sure that our products are innovative and equal to or superior to our competitors, while maintaining a cost that is well below the established industry leaders. WW: What is the nature of your distribu- tion? RW: We sell to major retailers that include some of the strongest retailers in the world and to distributors who sell to smaller dealers or "mom-and-pops." Our breadth of assortment allows differentia- tion between different channels. WW: To what do you attribute your com- pany's success? RW: A laser focus on what the market is attracted to and buying at any given time. We are constantly looking at trends and also looking for opportuni- ties to create our own trend line with products that our customers tell us they want. Finally, speed to market – we are known for getting new product to market in record time. For more information, visit www.dreamgear.net, call 310-222- 5522 or email curtv@dreamgear.net. In response to this, last year we launched the first smart- phone specifically designed with sen- iors in mind. This is powered by Doro Experience ® – a user interface that pro- vides a 'fuss-free' experience with well- spaced, large and clear application icons. Doro Experience is also available as a standalone software package for Android devices and PC. It comes com- plete with Doro Experience Manager, a management portal component that enables content and settings to be mod- ified remotely and securely. This tool allows appointed family members or friends to offer support or allows users themselves to make changes to the device without the restrictions of small- er screens and phone keys. WW: What distinguishes the Doro offering? JA: It's the complete awareness of our users' needs. We understand that our users want to enjoy a richer, easier and better-connected mobile experience, but perhaps don't wish to be concerned about technical ability. Our products serve to facilitate a journey through technology and help users feel connect- ed at all times. WW: Are you introducing any new products? JA: Yes, later in the year we intend to launch a new and enhanced smartphone offering - Doro PhoneEasy ® 810. This device will be our most liberating hand- set to date and will have a host of new Doro (Cont'd. from p. 1) features. In addition to this and in order to bridge the generational digital divide further, we will also be launching Doro PhoneEasy 622. This device will combine inclusive design, smart func- tions and cloud services. This 3G fea- ture is a new concept in easy mobiles and uses Doro Experience Manager to remotely manage some aspects of the handset. WW: Where is your current product emphasis? JA: Our emphasis remains to apply our extensive knowledge of the senior mobile user to both smart and feature mobile phones. This is part of a clear strategy to help us bridge the digital divide faced by seniors around the world. WW: To what do you attribute your com- pany's success? JA: Key to our success is our continu- ing ability to adapt to the evolving needs of the senior audience, which is overall becoming more tech savvy. We appreciate that this group's desire for smart features is growing, and there- fore we work hard to cater for this. We maintain a high attention to detail across all our devices, meaning our customers will continue to enjoy a bril- liantly simple and fulfilling experience.
