The energy efficiency of LED lights offers several advantages. They reduce maintenance costs and increase safety while greatly minimizing the number of times technicians must climb towers to change lamps. LEDs pay for themselves in as little as two years due to their ener- gy efficiency, lower maintenance costs and greater reliability. LEDs, which are solid-state devices, resist shock and vibration and stand up to extremes bet- ter than incandescent lights, which rely on a fragile filament in the lamp to light. LED technology will play an ever- increasing role in aviation safety and Hughey & Phillips (Cont'd. from p. 4) obstruction-lighting applications as engi- neers and project managers come to discov- er and appreciate its dual role: advancing safety through reliability and controlling operational costs through greater efficiency. KIKA DATA LAUNCHES, APPEALS TO ALL CUSTOMER SETS An interview with Mark Savage, Chief Marketing Officer - KIKA DATA WW: What is KIKA DATA? MS: KIKA DATA is the future of mobile broadband. Forget about contracts. KIKA DATA is a no contract, pay-as-you-go 3G/4G mobile Internet service which enables you to have high speed Internet access nationwide via a mobile hotspot or USB device. WW: What types of plans does KIKA DATA offer? MS: We have five 3G/4G plans starting at $9.99 for 200 megabytes up to $49.99 for five gigabytes. WW: Who can use KIKA DATA service? MS: Everyone. Our plans are appealing to individuals, families, and also the working professional. We cater to the need for low cost, mobile Internet on the go. A KIKA DATA 3G/4G mobile hotspot is perfect for everyday use, a weekend get- away, or business trip (CTIA is a great example). Exhibitors could use a KIKA DATA mobile hotspot or USB for Internet access at their tradeshow booth. Attendees, at some point this week, will be using a tablet, laptop or other WiFi enabled device at the show, airport, taxi, poolside, or hotel, as examples. Using a KIKA DATA device would provide you with an Internet con- nection in areas that either could not get Internet access or where you would have to pay high fees to get online. Our next generation 3G/4G Road Warrior Mobile Hotspot can connect up to five devices simultaneously (such as lap- tops, tablets, gaming consoles, printers, and iPods) so that your co-workers, family, and friends can also utilize the Internet connec- tion with only one data plan and one bill. KIKA DATA is great for international travelers as well. Travelers that own a KIKA DATA device can simply add data to their device at www.kikadata.com prior to their arrival into the U.S. or upon arrival. WW: Where do you see the future of KIKA DATA? MS: We plan to offer tablets as a stand- alone pur- chase, or to purchase as a bundle with our mobile hotspots. We will also be offering some great accessories such as cordless battery chargers, signal amplifiers, and personalized skins for your mobile hotspot to ensure our cus- tomers get the most out of their KIKA DATA service. M2M service plans will be launched later this year. We are currently putting together our full line-up of service plans, M2M solutions, and hardware partners. For companies, we will offer cus- tom mobile broadband service plans for users that do not need to utilize mobile data service every month. This way, a company does not have to sign up to pay 24 months of service if they only need to utilize the service during peak times of year, or for occasional travel. Rental Plans will be launched this year as well. For more information, visit www.kikada- ta.com, call 855-550-KIKA (5452), or stop by booth 3119 at CTIA. EXPERIENCE THE WATERSAFE TECHNOLOGY BEHIND LIQUIPEL'S LIQUID PROTECTION Liquipel Co-Founder Kevin Bacon talks about Liquipel's technology. WW: What is Liquipel and what does it do? KB: Liquipel is a Watersafeâ„¢ solutions provider with a patent-pending process that protects electronic devices, such as smartphones and tablets, from accidental liquid damage. Simply put, Liquipel's treatment will save your device's life in the case of accidental exposure to liquids or moisture. WW: What is the science behind Liquipel? KB: Liquipel is a both a patent-pend- ing process and chemical treatment. The process starts with the devices being placed inside our specially designed treatment machine. The machine then creates a vacuum. Then, a proprietary formulation of super- hydrophobic particles is injected in vapor form. Finally, plasma is intro- duced, binding the formulation to the devices. Because the treatment is done at the molecular level, the coating is virtually untraceable and does not affect nor compromise the look, feel or performance of the devices. WW: How does it work? KB: Liquipel protects the device's circuit- ry in the event of accidental water expo- sure. Because the coating is super hydrophobic, water just beads and runs right off or out of the device. And because it's on the molecular level, it's still breath- able, and the electrical current is not dis- rupted. WW: Does it work on any device? KB: Theoretically, yes. Some devices receive less of the coating on their interi- ors because there are fewer openings for the chemical to enter, which is why we have different levels of protection. We are currently treating smartphones, tablets and MP3 players, but we're also working with various partners to intro- duce pre-treated products like head- phones and other consumer electronics. WW: Once my phone is treated, can I go scuba diving with it? KB: [laughs] We definitely do not recom- mend you go scuba diving with it. It's important to remember that Liquipel pro- tects against accidental exposure to liquids. No scuba diving, but our customers are protected if they get splashed at the pool, drop their device in a puddle or sink. It is important to remember that if your device does get wet, to power down the device and get it as dry as possible so it doesn't short out. Part of our customer service includes instructions with each device we send out, and we include some treated tis- sue paper so you can still have fun amaz- ing your friends with our technology. WW: How can our readers get Liquipel? Is it only available in the United States? KB: We're a global company with part- ners and licensees all around the world including the United States, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, , Malaysia, South Korea, Turkey, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Russia. New centers are constantly being added around the world. You can visit our web- site at www.liquipel.com to learn more.
