JC: Eagle Roofing Products is a family owned manufacturer of concrete roof tiles. We are proud to celebrate the company's 25th anniversary in 2014. CM: Did your marketing strategy in the past year provide you the overall position you had projected? JC: The market for our products began to show signs of life in late 2012. Overall, we are very pleased with the trajectory of our business in the core markets. Our strategy today is focused on solidifying our position with key customers and reclaiming the price erosion that occurred during the downturn. Since the industry's inception in the 1960s, roof tile manufacturers have done an amazing job marketing the value of our products in our core markets – the Sunbelt Tamarack Technologies (Cont'd. from p. 1) are you showing here at IBS and how does that fit into your future? Will we see more whole house fans? TC: We certainly have a deserved reputation as creators of the modern whole house fan, and we're very proud of that fact. Yes, you will see the best whole house fans the industry offers at our booth, but our focus at this show will be on year-round ventilation solutions. One product we're really excited about is our Perfect Balance in-door Return Air Pathway that has just recently been awarded a utility patent by the U.S. Patent office. CM: What exactly do you mean by yearround ventilation solutions? Coulson Group (Cont'd. from p. 1) and is family owned and operated. The business began as a small logging company, and over the years has branched out into aviation, with focus on aerial fire suppression, as well as gaming and lumber manufacturing. CM: What makes your products unique? Warmboard (Cont'd. from p. 1) and fast for licensed plumbers to install. Engineered specifically to heat homes under 3,000 square feet, and in some climates, 4,000 square feet, Warmsource is an elegant solution for those looking to optimize their Warmboard panel system. Warmsource includes all the necessary pre-plumbed mechanical components integrated into one standalone unit. The circulator, air eliminator, expansion tank, controls and all other necessary components are already installed – no other plumbing components are needed. It includes convenient features that make filling the system with water and purging the air an states of Florida, Texas, Arizona, Nevada and California. The strategy worked well due to the natural population migration that has made these states the fastest growing over the past 30-plus years. Our weakness as an industry has been the lack of long-term commitment to marketing the value of roof tile in the other 45 states. If you have travelled anywhere outside of the United States, you know that tile roofing is the world's standard for sloped roofs. The proliferation of asphalt shingles is analogous to the United States. We are responsible for historically focusing on fellow roof tile manufacturers as our competitors, as opposed to directing our efforts toward comparing our products to the asphalt shingle market that commands at least 90 percent of the sloped roofing market in the United States. CM: What do you anticipate to be your greatest challenge in the year ahead? JC: The greatest challenge for both the manufacturing segment, as well as our roofer and builder partners in 2014, will continue to be the acquisition of qualified labor. CM: Are you introducing any new products? appeal, longevity, extreme weather resistance and unparalleled energy efficiency, there really is no comparison. CM: What is your outlook in general for this product line? JC: Going forward, we will focus a great majority of our new product development efforts on tiles that help us extinguish the notion that roof tile is 'round and round' and therefore is only utilized on Mediterranean style architecture. Eagle's expansive flat tile offering is an ideal alternative to heavyweight asphalt shingles, wood shake and slate. JC: The roof tile industry will continue to succeed in the Sunbelt region. However, our long-term success will be derived from our ability to expand into markets outside of the Sunbelt. We are currently working through our industry trade association, the Tile Roofing Institute, to begin offering Certified Installer training to interested roofing contractors in an effort to expand the market for tile roofing. JC: Considering that our competition is asphalt shingles, our challenge is overcoming the additional upfront cost associated with the installation of a tile roof. For architects, builders and homeowners who desire enhanced curb- JC: Visit us at booth #S1350 here at IBS or contact us at 888-TILEROOF or via our website at www.eagleroofing.com. CM: What distinguishes your products from the competition? TC: Our product line has specifically been designed to keep a home energy efficient and the air inside fresh. Most builders think of whole house fans as summer-specific alternatives to air conditioning units. In reality, our whole house fans deliver fresh air to a home year-round. Just picture the stale air that comes from cooking over the holidays, pet smells, kitchen cleaners, etc. In almost any size home, those smells and that stale air can be whisked away in minutes and replaced by fresh air. Our electronic controls, pressure balancing products and dampers help provide indoor comfort as well and complement our line-up of whole house fans. TC: Balanced air pressure in a home means your HVAC systems are operating efficiently. If you have an imbalance in a room, for example, your system will try to correct it by pushing/pulling warm or cold air – depending on the season – into that space. It becomes harder and harder on the system because of airflow restriction. Our in-door Perfect Balance R.A.P. allows that air to flow properly while also baffling light and minimizing noise. We offer other Return Air Pathway products but we're excited about this one because it can be retrofitted easily to existing doors, is very inexpensive, has no moving parts and is guaranteed for the life of the door. Made in the U.S.A., Perfect Balance also meets all code requirements for balancing air pressure, an issue that FC: At Coulson Cedar, we aim to create sustainability in a diminishing resource – Western Red Cedar – by producing an engineered cedar cladding. Not only are our products more cost effective than solid cedar, but we are extending the life up to nine times. CM: What distinguishes Coulson Cedar from your competition? FC: We are the only engineered cedar cladding product that is approved for exterior siding and soffiting applications. We are also the only engineered cedar product that has an ICC-ES number. Our clear cedar vertical grain cladding is approximately the same price installed as a knotty cedar siding product, as well as the only cedar product to give a warranty for appearance and durability. easy task. Warmsource is truly a plumb-and-play system. This ultra efficient heated water source extracts up to 97 percent of the energy from each dollar of natural gas or propane due to its modulating gas valve and condensing features. The 50gallon tank is made of stainless steel with copious insulation for near zero heat loss. Its proprietary technology "Zone Reset" automatically and continuously controls tank temperature to ensure the lowest possible heating bills. Its unique multi-zone control strategy automatically connects up to 12 thermostats to up to three manifold locations without any need for labor intensive and costly 24volt wiring strung throughout the structure. With a BTU output that can smoothly modulate between 0K and 70K BTUs, Warmsource provides the perfect amount of heat for most Warmboard homes. Radiant has never been this efficient to install and operate. Sixteen years ago, Warmboard changed the face of hydronic radiant heating by maximizing the conductivity and ease of installation of radiant panels. And now, we're doing it again with the release of Warmsource. This device allows radiant heat to be more accessible and more affordable for many homeowners who want the quiet and comfort of radiant. Any licensed plumber can install Warmsource quickly and near effortlessly.
