Aftermarket Daily News Tuesday, November 5, 2019 4 The Expansions of Original Parts Group Determined to supply Chevelle and El Camino parts to GM enthusiasts and oth- ers in the restoration industry, Dave Leonard, President and Founder of Original Parts Group, started a new enterprise out of a two-car garage in Santa Ana, California, named Chevelle Classics. He found very quickly that he would need more space and moved his business into a larger garage. As the product line grew to over 5,000 parts and accessories, the garage was no longer cutting it. Chevelle Classics moved into its third location, a warehouse large enough to house an enormous amount of product for its growing product line. Chevelle Classics continued to invest in manufacturing, as its number one goal and focus was to produce the largest selection of reproduction parts for Chevelle and El Camino enthusiasts. As its product line continued to expand, Chevelle Classics was forced to pack up and relocate on multiple occasions. By June of 1990, it was in its sixth location and its product line had grown to over 20,000 different restoration and high-per- formance parts. In 1994, parts and accessories were added for Pontiac (GTO, Tempest and Lemans) and Chevelle Classics now had the largest selec- tion of in-stock classic GM restoration parts in the United States. With mul- tiple product lines now available, Dave found it necessary to give his company a more suitable name, and Chevelle Classics officially became Original Parts Group, Inc. Year after year, Dave continued to introduce new product lines for Oldsmobile in 2001 and for Buick in 2002, offering many "restoration indus- try firsts" including injection molded interior parts, aluminum and chrome Razer Auto Inc.
