Aftermarket Daily News Tuesday, November 5, 2019 2 6 Curing Headaches with Powerbuilt Problem Solver Tools Every tech and shadetree mechanic knows that sinking feeling of accidental- ly rounding off a nut or bolt. Worse maybe is the headache that hits when you discover a damaged fastener that some- body else screwed up. Even Mother Nature can throw a wrench into the works by cooking up rusted and frozen fasteners. Many Painful Problems – With One Effective Solution: Powerbuilt Problem Solver Tools This collection of specialized hand tools are designed to grab and remove dam- aged fasteners, up to 85 percent rounded. The secret is Zeon ® broaching, a propri- etary design that loosens damaged fas- teners, and works great on new nuts, bolts and screws, tightening and loosen- ing them without marks or damage. Stop by booth #51107 and try Powerbuilt Problem Solver Tools for yourself. Powerbuilt Problem Solver Tools is a complete family of tools for a broad range of applications. Sets include: regular sockets; spline sockets; lug nut sockets; hex and tamper-evident bit sock- ets; and hex key wrench sets. A Tool You'll Love for the Jobs You Don't Dustless Blasting ® is the world's fastest, most cost-effective and environmentally friendly surface preparation tool. It does everything a sandblaster can do, but better. With Dustless Blasting, you can strip paint and coatings faster, use less media and never worry about containing a plume of dust. So how does it work? The Dustless Blaster mixes water and abrasive inside the blast tank. During blasting, the water encapsulates the abrasive and the coating being removed. Instead of becoming air- borne, the trapped abrasive falls to the ground, keeping surrounding areas clean and free from mess. This allows you to blast in open environments, even when others are working nearby. Plus, you will save money on containment and cleanup costs. By introducing water, it also drasti- cally increases the mass and energy the machine is putting out. Think of it this way – would you rather throw a handful of wet sand or dry sand at a target? The dry sand wouldn't have much impact on the target, but it would blow in the wind and make a big mess. The same amount of wet sand would hit the target with more force, and wouldn't blow in the wind. Additionally, this allows you to use less media and work more efficiently. This not only speeds up your production time, but also cuts your consumables cost. What about rust? Dustless Blasting not only strips away old paint and rust, but actual- ly cleans the surface that you are blasting so that it is free of contaminates and sol- uble salts that cause flash rust. In addi- tion to this, the Rust Inhibitor leaves a freshly stripped surface primer ready for up to 72 hours. This makes it the perfect method of paint stripping for the automo- tive restoration business. Auto restoration experts also love Dustless Blasting because it can be used on all metals with no fear of friction, heat or warping of the sur- faces. The water used in the blasting process helps to keep the sur- face about 10 degrees cooler than the ambient air temperature. This helps to eliminate the surface heat generated by friction. No surface heat means no warp- ing. For more information, go to www .dustlessblasting.com, email info@ dustlessblasting.com, call 713.869.2227 or stop by SEMA booth #24693. What's with All the Noise about Noise Reduction Tires? According to the Bloomberg 2018 Electric Vehicle Outlook (EVO), sales of electric vehicles (EVs) are increasing from a record 1.1 million worldwide in 2017 to 11 million in 2025 and then surg- ing to 30 million in 2030 as they become cheaper to make than internal combus- tion engine (ICE) cars. One important aspect of the EV ownership experience is the serene in-car cabin experience. Without the loud exhaust of an internal combustion engine (ICE), road noise generated by the tires becomes more pronounced. Consequently, all major tire manufactur- ers have developed a new genre of tires dubbed "Noise Reduction Tires." These tires were developed to enhance the quiet in-car experience by adding a layer of sound "deadening" material attached to the tire's inner liner, resulting in a cabin noise reduction of between 3db to 9db. With the proliferation of EVs such as Tesla, misinformation about the repairability of these noise reduction tires has infiltrated the marketplace through social media. One such Tesla owner's community video, which has over 7 mil- lion views, perpetuates the myth that these tires are un-repairable. TECH, the global tire and wheel authority, which pioneered proper and permanent tire repair products and processes over 80 years ago, has developed a dedicated and documented repair process for these noise reduction tires. Like any other tire, noise reduction tires can be repaired, although there are additional steps which require removal and replacement of the sound- absorbing material. TECH's R&D group along with its Global Tire Repair Technician Training Team have collabo- rated in development of a repair process which adheres to established proper industry guidelines for repair through such organizations as the Tire Industry Association (TIA). Through TECH University, tire tech- nicians come from all over the world for class- room and hands-on train- ing which includes repair manuals that document the process. To learn more about TECH's noise reduction tire repair process, training manual or available courses, email training@techtirerepairs.com. TECH once again leads the way in developing products and processes for the next generation of tires.
