KNAPP Rolls Out Latest KiSoft Software for Pharmacy and Warehouse Operations An interview with Kevin Reader, Director Business Development and Marketing, KNAPP. CDD: There is a lot of conversation about the rising importance of software and related technologies. Tell our readers about the latest KiSoft Pharmacy & Warehouse Operations software, and the benefits it will deliver to mail order phar- macies, central fill pharmacies and their warehouse operations. KR: This is a pretty exciting time in the software industry with all the game changing new technologies available in the market. These are technologies that are having an astounding impact on soft- ware design, development, operation and support. At KNAPP, we are no different in that regard, but our investments began years ago, and although we are known for our innovative automation, software is part of our DNA. Software development on its own is incredibly important to most any industry today, and healthcare is no exception – but according to Gartner, the average supply chain performance in healthcare is around 2.1 on a scale of 5. That's a big opportunity for improvement. The soft- ware that's required to control pharmacy process and automation may be only 10 percent of the cost, but it's absolutely essential to receiving 100 percent of the investment value in pharmacy regulatory compliance, accuracy and automation. KiSoft's newest releases are leading the pack in all of these areas, from design to execution and support. For example, KNAPP has developed an industry lead- ing process for developing software; these tools are stellar at aligning IT and operations processes accurately. They also result in a more rapid go-to-market deployment. Feature discussions can get pretty detailed, but con- sider that at a high level, KiSoft is flexible, scalable and reliable. In terms of other key attributes, KiSoft is designed for real time operations and visualization, providing pharmacists the ability to man- age operations, in real time, and with intu- itive and easy to navigate tools. KiSoft uti- lizes a single interface to enterprise plan- ning systems; but providing a seamless solution to control automation, inventory, order flow and priorities; delivering data and decision support at the right time, in the right place, through a single interface. CDD: We hear a lot of new buzz words; Internet of Things (IoT), predictive mod- eling and analytics, big data and artificial intelligence. Does KiSoft utilize any of this technology? KR: Many industry suppliers talk about these approaches, but for most they are still aspirational in nature. At KNAPP, we now have over 1,200 people on our software staff, and we have been deploying software that has included these technologies for the last five years. Specifically, artificial intelligence and machine learning have been opera- tional with our Vision systems, Pick-it- Easy robots, KMed robotic dispensers and KiSoft analytics. The newest KiSoft platform already includes a generation of experience and expertise honed from our 7 percent annual investment in R&D, and robust partnering and development rela- tionships with many of our customers. Last year in the U.S. alone, we won MHI's Top Innovation Award for our redPILOT Control Tower software, and a Top Innovation Award from Oracle for Excellence for KiSoft Analytics, a cloud- based analytics platform deployed at one of our KNAPP KiSoft customer sites.
