Gaming News 1 5 Friday, April 20, 2018 store letting me know that an item on my wish list just came in. Over coffee, I "try on" the dress virtually using the store's AR app on my phone. Between client meetings, I walk past the store. A reminder from the store pops up on my phone, with a customized discount offer. Who can pass up a deal? So, I make the "one click" purchase. Meanwhile, a salesperson is notified and prepares my purchase for pickup. To check out, I simply collect my package at the checkout area and the automated scanner records the purchase and charges my account. I'm out of the store and back at the office in minutes. As I leave, I get a thank you text that mentions an invita- tion-only sale the next week. Backed by big data and analytics, the shopping experience will be highly per- sonalized, seamless and frictionless. By leveraging every medium, the retailer can deliver in-the-moment customer engage- ment, forge deeper relationships with their customers and engender powerful, lasting customer loyalty. Digital technology and the torrent of data it produces will also help the enter- Ericsson (Cont'd. from p. 1) prise optimize operations as never before, down to shelf space, lights and refrigerator usage. Smart and autonomous logistics and transport and even autonomous driving and drones will become commonplace. For Information Communications Technology players, the digitalization of retail will reap tangible benefits – new global revenues of $140 billion by 2026, according to the Ericsson 5G Business Potential Report. Innovations in customer experience alone will bring in $43 billion, and operational efficiencies will save another $35 billion from applications such as chat robots for customer service and smart sensors for equipment maintenance. Much of this requires the power of 5G. 5G provides retailers with high- speed in-store connectivity for rich con- tent delivery, low latency enabling mobile AR/VR applications without queasiness, and a continuously secured and reliable connection for a seamless shopping experience. Grabbing new business opportunities as they unfold, retailers will be able to grow year-on- year sales via multiple channels that reach inside of, or exist apart from, their brick and mortar stores. Virtual Reality Sound: What is It? Why Do You Want It? By John Kasha, Chief Executive Officer of KAI Technology Inc. We all hear sound differently. Maybe it's background noise, or just enjoying the artist's creativity either with their instru- ments or voice. Sometimes, we struggle to hear something creative in the mix we like and raise the volume up to hear it, but it doesn't help. Introducing the m.e.™, a small device that boosts, expands and takes your listening experience to a whole new dimension in sound. Here's how it works. The m.e. brings all the hidden details of a song to life so you can hear everything. It's like being in the recording stu- dio. It's an immersive experience. You really feel like you are actual- ly there, on stage, with the musi- cians. The m.e. gives your music depth, dimension and definition making your listening experience the best it can be. For example, you're listening to a great song you have heard hundreds of times, but since the instruments or back- ground vocals have been compromised for MP3, you don't even realize you are missing out on half the music. m.e. revives your music so you now hear more of the song's original arrangements. Instruments sud- denly appear in the mix, vocals pop, the music sounds alive. m.e. can be used on every piece of audio equipment in your life. From headsets to car stereos, home entertainment to in-flight infotain- ment, the m.e. will change the way you hear sound forever. For more information, go to www .getmeaudio.com.
