Construction Marketplace 4 7 Wednesday, January 10, 2018 Stay Competitive Through Outsourced Rebate Management Now is a very important time in home building. Volume and pricing are up, but labor is tight and costs are also up. Independent homebuilders must find new ways to stay competitive. Outsourcing your rebate management to a national buying group will help save time and money. Improve Buying Power Have you ever wondered if you are receiving rebates in all categories avail- able? Or how you could possibly qualify for a competitive rebate program when your volumes are small relative to the huge national builders? A buying group can provide the size and scale necessary to obtain better results without changing your supply chain or altering your busi- ness in any way. Consider what your cur- rent suppliers have to offer and periodi- cally review new suppliers. You will gain a closer relationship with your suppliers and build a better home. Save Time Finding, evaluating and administering these rebate programs can be an extremely time-consuming exer- cise. Once you go through the effort to put a program in place, it takes regular mainte- nance and follow-up to make sure you are actually paid each quarter. The time required to handle all of this yourself can outweigh the sav- ings generated. Find a way to realize the benefits of rebates without the has- sle – let a third-party expert handle these functions for you. Conclusion Nobody likes leaving money on the table, but your time is better spent focusing on what you do best – building houses. Outsource certain functions that are not core to your busi- ness wherever possible. Leverage the buying power and expertise of a national buying group to maximize savings without costing time for you and your team. For more information, visit booth #W5188. Accreditation – The Stamp of Excellence By Dan Taddei, MS Ed. BCA, Director of Education and Certification, National Association of the Remodeling Industry Organizations have tried implementing stamp of approval programs in the past, but pay-for-play 'advertising' programs have muddied the waters and left con- sumers adrift when work does not go as promised and quality has suffered. Professional remodelers have suffered as the reputation and trustworthiness of a contractor is called into question by con- sumers who believed they were hiring a skilled, professional remodeler. The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) is proud to provide the first-ever accreditation pro- gram for remodeling companies. Since 1985, NARI has provided certification for individuals that encompass a broad range of skills required to be successful in the industry. NARI's eight certifica- tions include: Certified Remodeler, Master Certified Remodeler, Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler, Certified Lead Carpenter and Certified Remodeler Project Manager, to name a few. Each of the certifications asses the individuals to ensure they possess the necessary skills and understanding to be successful. A separate Certification Board meets regu- larly to evaluate exams and to ensure the assessment tools are up to date. In 2017, the Certified Lead Carpenter program has been updated and new materials will be available starting in 2018. As a trade association, NARI demon- strates its commitment to support professional development for individuals in remodeling. A Higher Set of Standards The NARI Accredited Remodeling Company (ARC) program launched in 2017. A primary goal of the accreditation program was to develop a continuous improvement process and road map to support increased profitability. Accreditation helps companies become better, stronger and more profitable. Better applies to all aspects of run- ning a business and includes fol- lowing best practices for company management, sales and marketing, financial management, employee development and more. The NARI Accreditation Board provides an unbiased, documented validation of a company's programs and services. The NARI ARC program provides a stamp of approval that signifies excellence within the industry as well as externally to con- sumers. Learn more at www.nari.org/arc.
