Food Equipment News 2 7 Saturday, February 11, 2017 WHAT'S NEW AT US? By Josh Chronister, Vice President, US Inc. Stainless steel products! That's right – we now have a complete product line of stainless steel products. These products include: compartment, bar and hand sinks, dish tables, worktable, ice bins, shelving, equipment stands, pot racks, dunnage racks and much more. We have added a complete line of stainless steel products at the request of our distribu- tors. We will be showing some of these products at booth #109. Please stop by and take a look. Pan racks: We have added bun pan, meat and pastry racks to our product line. These are available in aluminum or stain- less steel – stronger and more durable than the others. These are "z" style stack- ing racks in 12, 15, 20 and 30 sheet pan models. The 12 pan model is for meats and is only available from US in a "z" style. Wire shelving: We have just com- pleted our design and development. Cooking equipment products: This will include fryers, griddles, grills, char broilers and proofers. These products were introduced during 2015. LCD glass door dis- play reach-ins: The LCD glass door reach-in has a translucent LCD video screen integrated in the door for advertising your merchandise. I realize that this seems like a huge number of products to roll out in a short period of time, but we have been perfecting the equipment and develop- ing the design for the past several years. We do not release a new product without a thorough testing period to assure our equipment will compete against any manufacturer in the indus- try. Come see one of our new products in booth #109. We are seeking a few new distributors to repre- sent this new line of equipment. Please contact our national sales office at 888.556.2112 for more details. If you are interested in learning more about our products, please visit our website at www.us-incorporated.com or give us a call and we will provide you with one of our local distributors. Specializing in sneeze guards and only sneeze guards, English is a trusted source for foodservice breath pro- tection. It builds the most affordable and versatile sneeze guards in the industry, while using only the highest quality materials sourced in the U.S.A. Each sneeze guard is designed and fabricated with a superior level of craftsmanship to ensure quality throughout the lifetime of the guard. The original Matrix series includes a variety of non-adjustable sneeze guards, ideal for tight budgets and quick lead times. These traditional style guards come in a standard 1-inch round brushed stainless steel tubing, but these, like all of English's guards, can be modified to meet any custom request, including adding heat strips/lights, stainless tops and powder coat. Due to an increase in demand for adjustable style sneeze guards, English created its Adjustaguard series, its first fully adjustable sneeze guard. It was made to match the Matrix series in form, using the same 1-inch round bent posts. The Adjustaguard's main feature is a subtle vertical track hidden behind the post to adjust the glass height and angle. With an increase in popularity of curved counters, English realized one limitation with the Adjustaguard series – while it works great on straight counters, it wasn't able to transition around angles without using individual sections and extra posts. It was then when it came up with an even better adjustable unit, which was introduced as the Viper series. Using the same style track to adjust the height, it wasn't too different from the Adjustaguard in function, only it was able to wrap around any angled or curved counter with ease using durable stainless steel Viper brack- ets. The Viper makes any curved or angled counter look seamless by eliminat- ing unnecessary posts. While doing this, the Viper also allows for more usable counter space and closes gaps between what would have otherwise been sepa- rated sneeze guards. Each of these NSF certified and UL recognized styles, Matrix, Adjustaguard and Viper, are being showcased at the NAFEM show at booth #419. TEMPERATURE, HUMIDITY & CONTACT – FROM CLIPBOARDS TO THE INTERNET OF THINGS Temperature management is, of course, a critical aspect of the new FSMA provi- sions. Under the 2016 directives, anyone who serves, processes or stores food for human consumption must monitor and record the temperatures for compliancy. It is recommended that these tempera- tures are recorded electronically to avoid human error, and corrective actions should be documented any time tempera- tures spike if a cooler or freezer fails. While manual temperature checks might seem to be the simplest approach, this method offers a lot of room for improve- ment. Cost: A handwritten system means companies must pay someone to make the rounds to check and record tempera- tures several times a day. Time: FSMA requires food compa- nies to keep extensive records. While the FDA can't require electronic records, it does recommend them. Transferring handwritten records into electronic ones takes time, which also means additional costs. Mistakes: Manual processes always leave room for human error. Emerging wireless and digital tech- nology, such as NotifEye, is at the fore- front of temperature monitoring and is becoming increasingly affordable. Additionally, because such systems mon- itor and record temperature in real time, they can send an alert via email or text if the tempera- ture isn't being properly reg- ulated, and the issue can be dealt with right away. This technology is useful not only for monitoring temperatures for data collection, but it can also assist in energy-saving and maintenance efforts by documenting equipment effi- ciency prior to failure. These sensors are part of a cloud-based system that stores and manages data that can be accessed anywhere with an internet connection. Cooper-Atkins Corporation has had a good deal of time to prepare for today's temperature challenges since its start in 1885. Cooper-Atkins' products assist in ensuring consistency of food product and corporate brand protection. Cooper- Atkins was the recipient of the presti- gious McDonalds 2015 Global Supplier of the Year award, which signifies the company's abilities on a global scale. Today, the company sup- plies digital thermometers, ther- mocouple instrument technology and wireless solutions for tem- perature monitoring for the food- service industry. Its temperature instruments are in use in popular quick service restaurants, hospi- tals, casinos and school and uni- versity systems around the world. Cooper Atkins continues to provide state-of-the-art technology to meet your monitoring needs.
