Bloomin' Cotton, painting on cotton clothing in the Chinese Brush painting style for more than 10 years prior to start- ing Totally Bamboo. I am a woodworker and spent sever- al years as a shipwright. Later, I designed and built deck chairs, which evolved into director's chairs for the movie industry; our "Hollywood Chair" is now in its 20th year of production. Incidentally, we began making the chairs out of bamboo and used the scraps to create cutting boards one year as Christmas gifts. Thus, the first bamboo cutting boards were invented and Totally Bamboo was born! KNSD: Where does inspiration come from? TS: Inspiration comes from living; some of our best ideas happen on vacations. There is not just one moment of inspira- tion. It's constant, in our everyday con- sciousness. We find a lot of inspiration looking at nature. KNSD: What are some of your latest new products and how did you come up with the ideas for them? TS: Our new Pro Board collection was designed as a high quality board with simple lines that a professional chef could use, but that would also be a beau- tiful addition to a home kitchen. We used parquet end grain bamboo because it is easy on knives and shows little wear due to its self-healing properties. Our Inlay Series has been a hallmark of Totally Bamboo's success for more than a decade. We were the first to devel- op the difficult technique that insets caramelized vertical grain bamboo with To tally B ambo o (C o nt'd. fro m p. 1 ) natural bamboo. Our designs featuring the inlay have evolved throughout the years, and we're excited to introduce a new, very sophisticated inlay square bowl and platter series. KNSD: What makes Totally Bamboo's products different than some of the other bamboo kitchenware products on the market? TS: Quality and design. We try to keep ahead of the trend by keeping in tune with our customers' needs and the market demand. We take extreme care to keep our quality as high as we can. Our quali- ty control procedures are very strict and we are continually looking for new ways to improve. KNSD: Why do you think you've been in business so long? What's the secret to your longevity? TS: We were the first to invent the bam- boo cutting board. Our quality is consis- tent and we have an excellent reputation for customer service. In 16 years of busi- ness we have seen customers try other bamboo lines, but quality and customer service keep them coming back and they stay loyal. KNSD: How many varieties of products do you offer? TS: Our latest catalog has more than 50 products featured, including but not lim- ited to cutting boards, bowls, utensils, serveware like platters and cheese boards, and storage like knife blocks, drawer organizers, dish racks, salt boxes and more. PEUGEOT MILAN MILL MARRIES MODERN LOOK WITH PRECISION CRAFTSMANSHIP With a fresh, new look for the world of pepper and salt mills, the Peugeot Milan Mill was created in collaboration with the Peugeot Design Lab, a global brand design studio that draws on the heritage and expertise of 200 years of industrial experience. From concept cars to innova- tive mills, the products made by the Peugeot Design Lab reflect the vision of Peugeot family interests, which enthusi- astically embrace the good life with a commitment to the highest standards of quality. Milan Salt and Pepper Mills are quintessentially Peugeot. The design combines the natural beauty of beech wood with a matte black or matte white wheel-shaped head that is accented with stainless steel. The result is clean, simple and balanced – distinctive, but not fussy – a modern look that leans toward male motifs while appealing to anyone with con- temporary tastes. Its unique style speaks to the broad range of over 300 Peugeot Mill SKUs, known for its variety and visual splendor. A product of fine craftsmanship, the Milan Mill is made in France, from PEFC-certified beech wood from sus- tainably managed French forests. It fea- tures the iconic Peugeot spice-specific mechanism, the strongest on the market, with a consistent high-output grind. This mechanism is fully adjustable via Peugeot's U'Select ring, with unsur- passed precision adjustments. The Milan Mill was unveiled at the French Pavilion at Expo Milano 2015, in honor of a Peugeot Food Truck that symbolizes the Peugeot family's commitment to both automo- tive and gourmet products businesses. The Food Truck was named "Le Bistro de Lion," or "The Lion's Bistro," referring to the historical lion logo that appears on the Milan Mill and all Peugeot products. A decorative hang tag features use and care information, plus a statement of authenticity that describes Peugeot's his- tory as the world leader in mills since 1840. An illustrated timeline of Peugeot products can be found on the Peugeot Design Lab website at www.peugeotde- signlab.com/en/studio-3/history. Peugeot Milan Mills, available for salt or pepper, have a suggested retail price of $60 each. They come with a five- year warranty on the body, with a life- time warranty on the mechanisms. The Milan Mill is available for immediate shipment. For more information, visit www.peugeot- saveurs.com or call 877.777.5914.
