C o n v e n i e n c e R e t a i l e r S h o w D a i l y M o n d a y, O c t o b e r 1 2 , 2 0 1 5 1 0 EXCEL DRYER INTRODUCES NEW THINAIR HAND DRYER By William Gagnon, Vice President of Marketing, Excel Dryer, Inc. The high-speed, energy-efficient XLER- ATOR ® Hand Dryer revolutionized com- mercial restrooms, and today, more con- venience stores are adopting the technol- ogy for cost savings and energy efficien- cy. With the American Disabilities Act turning 25 years old, now more than ever, facilities are focusing on being ADA- compliant, especially in the restroom. Today, building codes may have stringent standards for accessibility, especially if a facility is newly constructed or in some way altered. According to ADA guide- lines, hand dryers must not protrude more than four inches from the wall so they do not become an obstacle for the visually or mobility impaired. Additionally, they should be mounted at the handicap height of approximately 37 inches so they are within reach from a wheelchair. The new ThinAir ® Hand Dryer man- ufactured by Excel Dryer is a high-effi- ciency model that protrudes only four inches from the wall when surface- mounted, and when installed at 37 inches above finished floor (AFF), would fully comply with ADA guidelines in the rest- room. The ThinAir model operates on 940 watts or less, and is a quick and easy retrofit solution for any facility looking to save money and easily maintain a cleaner restroom. Stricter and more regulated stan- dards for public restrooms have created a demand for the ThinAir Hand Dryer, which dries hands in 15 seconds. For some buildings – including government facilities – it's the law to provide ADA- compliant restrooms. For pri- vately owned facilities, provid- ing ADA-compliant hand dryers is becoming the standard. The new guidelines make it very clear what is required to accommodate those with dis- abilities and the high-efficiency, ADA- compliant ThinAir Hand Dryer is now available to satisfy that need. ThinAir features adjustable speed and sound control, optional on/off heat, and a washable pre-filter to extend the life of the unit. As a sensor-activated, touch-free hand dryer, ThinAir reduces touch points and decreases the risk of cross-contamination from users contact- ing potentially unclean surfaces while drying hands in a public restroom. Cleanliness is, after all, especially impor- tant in high-traffic areas like convenience stores. ThinAir is also available with a white ABS cover made with a SANAFOR™ antimicrobial additive that effectively controls the growth of micro-organisms. Optional MICROBAN ® Antimicrobial Wall Guards pro- tect wall finishes from excess water and are ideal for high-traffic restrooms. Wall Guards are both hygienic and easy to clean. Excel Dryer manufactures the only hand dryers that are Made in USA Certified ® , the first to be GreenSpec ® Listed and also qualify for several LEED ® v4 Credits and Green Globes to meet corporate or government sustain- ability goals. WHY CLYDE'S MARKET CHOSE MIDAX An interview with Gene Edwards, Chief Financial Officer, Clyde's Market, 718 South Veterans Blvd, Glennville, GA, 30427. Contact Gene at 912.654.3052 or gedwards@clydesmarket.com. CRSD: Tell our readers about Clyde's Market, your company and the market you serve. GE: Clyde's Market is a family owned convenience store chain located in south- east Georgia. We were established in 1969 in Glennville, Georgia by Clyde Woolard. We currently operate 43 con- venience stores within 72 miles of Glennville. Our market consists mainly of rural communities, so we adhere to our small town values. CRSD: What do you feel were the technology pain points facing your company, and what led you to Midax as a solution? GE: In a competitive environment where loyalty programs have become a necessi- ty, we found it difficult to find a loyalty solution that would work with multiple fuel brands and unbranded sites. Midax offered a flexible solution that would integrate seamlessly, regardless of the fuel brand. CRSD: Currently, what solutions are you employing? GE: Clyde's Market is currently employ- ing two solutions from Midax. We use the Midax loyalty platform and the Midax ACH pay- ment platform. CRSD: Do you feel the solutions provided have ultimately helped to favorably position Clyde's Market against the competition? GE: Yes. The Midax ACH payment solution will allow us to gain traction with a customer base that is already educated by the competition. The ACH solution allows us to compete on a level playing field. The Midax loyal- ty solution has allowed us to reach our customers with innovative programs that our competition does not current- ly offer. The flexibility of the Midax solution, coupled with Midax's will- ingness to develop custom solutions, will keep us one step ahead of the competition. CRSD: Looking into the future, and the relationship you have developed, are you looking at other technology applications provided by Midax? GE: Yes. As an extension of our loyal- ty and ACH payment solution, we will develop a mobile app with Midax. Because of Midax's ability to perform across multiple fuel brands, we will also look to Midax in the future for a gift card and fleet fuel management solution. Visit Midax at booth #4812. LET PDQ HELP EMV (which is an abbreviation of Europay, MasterCard and Visa) is a term that is causing much concern and confu- sion for car wash operators throughout the United States. PDQ Manufacturing can put those concerns at ease with its fully certified EMV capable Access ® Pay Station that processes true chip and PIN transactions. The move towards EMV processing has already been made throughout the world, and the United States is the last major economy to follow suit. While the process seems confusing, it is actually quite simple when you boil it down to its most basic components. First, the chip on a card, which has data stored in an integrated circuit, can- not be replicated by would-be thieves in the way that mag stripe data can. Second, a PIN is required for verification to process the transaction. This two-tiered security method of something you have (the chip enabled card) and something you know (your PIN) helps to create a more secure transaction for both the con- sumer and the merchant. Utilizing EMV hardware also brings with it some unique changes to how POS units are produced. In order to further enhance the security protection, the card readers themselves are programmed with unique security keys that only the device manufacturer can access. This process is called "injection," and it prevents the code and spec- ification for the encryption from being known by any- one who writes software that touches credit card data, further securing the transmission of credit card data. PDQ manufactures an Access Pay Station that uti- lizes this new hardware and is capable of processing EMV transac- tions using the chip and PIN technology. The PDQ solution is fully certified by two separate parties to provide cus- tomers with the most options and flexi- bility. Wash operators can choose to process transactions with Moneris on Verifone hardware or with PaymentExpress via DPS hardware. This hardware package is also available as a retrofit kit to existing pay stations in the field or as a facto- ry installed option on new units. In addition, the EMV enabled Access Pay Stations also have the capability to process Near Field Communication (NFC) transac- tions via mobile payment applica- tions on smartphones or tap-and- go credit card processing. While EMV is a new plat- form, PDQ is here to help opera- tors understand their options and make the transition as smooth as possible by providing flexible hardware solutions to fit any business model. Feel comfortable in your decision to purchase PDQ Equipment. It is proud to be part of Dover Corporation, A Fortune 500 Company. Visit PDQ at booth #6236. TABLECHECK SEATING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM BECOMES WIRELESS TableCheck Seating Management System (SMS) has always been stand- alone and fixes problems at the host stand. Gone are the noise, clutter and annoying distraction of the old ways of getting the crucial table status informa- tion to the hosts who are seating guests. The situation just got even better. Specific members of the staff can carry all the table information with them every- where! Adding the TableCheck SMS Tablets to the traditional wired TableCheck SMS puts the same key information at every- one's fingertips. The table status will be on the walls in key locations, as well as in the hands of select people who have the TableCheck tablets. Managers and hosts are on the move all the time, so they can carry the information about the whole restaurant with them and update as they go. Servers will still be able to update their sections from the wall mounted panels while the hosts and man- agers can also see and update table status while on the go. The TableCheck SMS tablets also gives added information like how long the tables have been seated. Each time the status is changed the timer starts again. Also, for those with the sight issue of having a hard time distinguishing the difference in colors, the name of the color/status is written on each table.
