C o n v e n i e n c e R e t a i l e r S h o w D a i l y W e d n e s d a y, O c t o b e r 1 4 , 2 0 1 5 3 4 E-CIG SALES: TIPS FOR C-STORES The ability for a convenience store employee to serve shoppers' needs at a rapid pace while the shopper is faced with numerous product selection options presents a unique opportunity for elec- tronic cigarette sales. Here are three quick tips to keep in mind when offering electronic cigarettes in your convenience store. 1. Note the unique requirements of your market. Understand the brands that are popular in your region and resonate with your core customer demographic. Talk to your brand representative and customers, take notes of which brands the competi- tive stores are carrying and do your online research to make the right selec- tions for your shoppers. 2. Don't skimp on fixtures. Give an appropriate amount of merchandising footage for product, signage and market- ing materials. An estimated 60 percent of e-cig smokers are women, so signage height is an important consideration. Select a fixture that enables you as a retailer to fully manage all categories. Pick a solution that has the ability to be easily reconfigured to support your mer- chandising strategy as new products emerge. 3. Encourage education. If your store has more than one register, your staff has the oppor- tunity to chat with e-cig shoppers. Make sure that your store associ- ates are trained properly in this area. More conversation can help customers effectively fill their current vaping needs, and also help them discov- er new products and flavors. A versatile and flexible fixture on the market today is the FlexFrame 2 fixture manufactured by Harbor Industries. It is unique in that every shelf is just under 12 inches wide. This allows a retailer to adjust its planogram by varying shelf placement to accommodate product heights. The result is simpler merchan- dising layout changes that enable the retailer to fully man- age the category. Since the shelves are smaller and easier to move and adjust, retailers can add new products by repositioning sections with- out having to redo the entire fixture. Harbor Industries' tobacco fixture design specialists will help you translate your planogram into a fixture design that supports your requirements. Harbor Industries delivers an assembled fixture, so that it can be immediately installed and ready for product placement in mini- mal time. Visit Harbor Industries at booth #2362. The DTW450 has a 4.5-inch stem and a 1.5mm thin tip, and the DTW450L has a long 8-inch stem, a 2.5mm reduced tip and a clip for attaching to a pot for deep fat frying, candy making and more. With an ever-growing concern about bacterial cross contamination, CDN has answered the call with the addition of BioCote ® antimicrobial coating to its ProAccurate line. BioCote offers an extra form of protection against microbes, when used in conjunction with good hygiene/cleaning practices for effective bacterial management.
