B r o a d c a s t e r s S h o w D a i l y W e d n e s d a y, A p r i l 1 5 , 2 0 1 5 2 8 Flex4K image quality is up there with the best, and that the camera is extremely versatile, with the ability to capture both 2K and 4K resolutions in addition to both standard and high-speed frame rates. Updates to the camera system are targeted to improve the workflow for both standard and high-speed recording. When it comes to capturing high frame rates, usually the more RAM the better. The Flex4K is now available with up to 128GB of RAM, which allows for 10 seconds of real time capture at 1,000 4K fps. Those 10 seconds will play out in over six minutes at 24p. The current workflow involves raw cine files recorded to the camera's CineMag IV recording media. These raw files are of the highest quality and com- patible with a growing list of the indus- try's top color grading systems, but they can also be quite large, as every hour of 4K playback takes up 1TB of space before the files are rendered. At 1,000 fps, that's less than two minutes of real- time capture. The introduction of indus- Vision Research (Cont'd. from p. 1) try standard compression will open up compatibility to more programs and reduce overall file size without sacrific- ing image quality. Another exciting update planned for 2015 is the ability to record audio when shooting standard, sync-sound frame rates. With the appropriate peripheral equipment, the camera will capture uncompressed .wav files that are down- loaded along with the footage. The Flex4K is also well suited for live broadcast applications, and recent- ly has been adopted in several major sporting events around the world. Vision Research works with integra- tors to provide broadcast-friendly solu- tions for super slow-motion recording and playback. The camera provides excellent color-matching capabilities, offers simultaneous live and replay feeds, and interfaces well with pan- and-scan systems. BSD: Aren't you the guys that publish ShotPut Pro™? DM: Yes! When the industry began tran- sitioning from analog to digital video, we recognized the need for fast, reliable file handling. ShotPut Pro for Macintosh and Windows was conceived to help copy the contents of P2 and SxS cards securely. BSD: Can you use ShotPut Pro to copy files onto a LTO tape for archive? DM: You could do that. But a tape is linear and doesn't provide random access like a hard disk. For efficient tape authoring and retrieval you need a managing application to control the LTO deck. It's also desirable to have a searchable index. BSD: What's unique about your LTO solution compared to the competition? DM: Our LTO backup software, PreRollPost™, simplifies the entire process. We do all the tough things like getting the drivers right, regardless of LTO brand and model. PreRollPost is 'video aware,' meaning we know the var- ious HD types and can extract metadata, generate a thumbnail and proxies, and make them searchable. BSD: I've heard Discovery Channel requires video be delivered on a LTO tape. DM: That's right! Creating correctly for- matted LTO tapes is simply a matter of dragging files into PreRollPost. The soft- ware automatically populates metadata, creates appropriate folders and finishes Imagine Products (Cont'd. from p. 1) the tapes. There's even a built-in Discovery Tape Verification to check any tape against their requirements. BSD: Let's talk about this new viewer of yours. DM: HD-VU2 is a native file viewer that can play media volumes from camera manufacturers including ARRI RAW, Amira, Blackmagic, GoPro, Panasonic, RED and Sony. There are more than 20 media types HD-VU2 supports. BSD: What makes HD-VU2 unique? DM: HD-VU2 plays many different media formats. It also associates inde- pendent audio files with those camera volumes. It gives users the ability to share these files with their clients or part- ners. We also added an option for color correction on the fly. BSD: So HD-VU2 can also color correct? DM: What HD-VU2 can do is apply a temporary LUT to the files. It doesn't have the ability to alter the native files in any way. It'll save time, money and resources because it all but eliminates guesswork. BSD: What other HD-VU2 features can you tell me about? DM: There is an option to create playlists. With this feature, you could organize files by project into the same playlist for fast reference. That's just one example of how the playlists can be used. It's really a great feature for our users. Come by booth #SL11127 and we will give you a demo. For more information, visit www .imagineproducts.com or stop by booth #SL11127. JY: There are billions of webpages on the Internet. It is easy to get distracted surf- ing the web, which is one reason why you usually provide a web address when you broadcast your message. But on their way to your site, audiences can get easily lost or distracted and may not end up visiting the page you were directing them to. When you use Riatt, your audi- ence makes it to the intended web page, increasing the likelihood that they will answer your call to action. BSD: How do you use Riatt? JY: Basically, Riatt is a web-based plat- form. A broadcaster, media agency, adver- tiser or other media company can register to be a Riatt customer at riatt.com. After entering basic business information, you can go to your account and add informa- tion such as campaign, inventory, location, Riatt code, URL for the webpage, alloca- tion, etc. It's easy to use. We will also provide dashboard and analytics information you'll be able to view any time by logging into your account. BSD: Could you tell us more about the analytics? Riatt (Cont'd. from p. 1) JY: You can view information over a time period. For example, the last seven days, last 30 days or last 60 days. You can also see information like total clicks, unique visits, top visiting city, top OS platform, top browser, activity by Riatt access code, activity by category, etc. You can even view a table that lists all of the clicks to your landing page, along with the date, device used, OS type, browser, city and zip code for each. We are offering a free trial of the serv- ice, and you will be able to see the analyt- ics to improve the performance of your marketing campaign. Please contact cus- tomer@riatt.com for more information. BSD: Is there any benefit for the audi- ence? JY: Yes. It is a free service for the audi- ence (user). Anyone can enter a Riatt code at www.riatt.com and will be sent right to your landing page. The audience member can also register as a Riatt user for free. Registered users can view their own code history and easily visit any webpage they have previously viewed. A "share" func- tion will enable the audience to share the exciting message with their friends. For more information, stop by booth #N6730 or visit www.riatt.com.
