Our products seek to absorb excess noise that is reflected and reverberated inside a space. Presently, Unika Vaev offers three solutions: ecoustic panels, Moov tiles and Foliar wall systems. Ecoustic is a series of polyester panels with polyester felt facing applied to them. The panels are avail- able in 16 different colors. The thicker the panel, the more noise it will absorb. Ecoustic is recyclable and made without glue. They are light- weight, and can be trimmed or cut to suit any dimensional need. Moov, along with ecoustic, was introduced last year at NeoCon. The Moov system is composed of rectangular acoustical tiles with a parabolic face. A custom look can be achieved by combin- ing panel colors. Foliar wall was originally introduced last NeoCon as a decorative product. The system has recently been modified to also include acoustical inserts to create qui- eter spaces with attractive décor. HDSD: How are Unika Vaev's products helpful for the workplace? Unika Vaev ( Cont'd. from p. 1) JK: Noise in the workplace is increas- ingly becoming an issue, for several rea- sons. Similar to the way conversation can be difficult or impossible in a crowded restaurant, noise disrupts your ability to function. It impairs cognitive ability and has adverse effects on learning and pro- ductivity. We all process noise uncon- sciously, and may go home feeling tired or stressed as a consequence. HDSD: Tell our readers about your trade show objectives. JK: In addition to two new textile collec- tions, Unika Vaev will be introducing three new acoustical tile collections this year at NeoCon – Domino, Linear and Matrix. We will also be introducing Twister, an acoustical panel product which can be customized by design and color. Our goal is to introduce these new forms of acoustical treatment, and to edu- cate the marketplace about acoustical remedies. JM: The most popular products we offer are part of the new Powered by Pent Collection. Our customers have asked that we accelerate the availability of the Ashley Duo™ and Ashley Trio+™ models because of their design appeal and USB charger, the fastest available on the market of 2.1 amps per port. The models are also easy to recon- figure in office layouts, and portable, so they are perfect for pop-up offices and home office use, too. HDSD: What other new products are you working on? JM: We are expanding our LED archi- tectural wall sconce, suspended direct and indirect lights offered in either indi- vidual or continuous runs. We currently make lights for major lighting brands. In addition to standard light hous- ings, we can offer custom options such G roup Dekko ( Cont'd. from p. 1) as laser cutting logos or signage on the wall sconce light fixture housing. If an architect, interior designer or a facili- ties manager has a need for a custom light solution, we can help create that solution. HDSD: What would you say makes your company unique? By doing so, we provide additional values to our customers on top of the existing benefits that come with solid surface countertops. Rather than consid- ering the technology as an option, it is a built-in feature beneath the surface for your convenience with a nice, neat, tidy look. It is all about convenience. TechTop alliances with Qi technology standard which has a much wider suppli- er base versus its competitors. The mar- ket for compatible devices is continually growing and is backed by major carriers, including Verizon. TechTop is a fairly new concept to many of us, as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth once were. However, once you experience it, you will wonder how you ever lived without it. HDSD: What do you anticipate to be your greatest challenge in the year ahead? BK: The technology is simple. You need a receiver on the phone and a transmit- ter in the surface. Simply put, they can- not exist without one another. However, with wireless charging being a fairly new technology to many, there are not LG Hausys ( Cont'd. from p. 1) enough public applications available for the people to observe, to experience and to adapt this solution. Carriers are hesi- tating to readily make the technology available for the consumers by not fac- tory-embedding the receivers into the phones and instead offering it as an option, which is why LG Hausys is focusing on commercial markets, so that we can introduce and expose this tech- nology to as many people as possible. HDSD: How do you see the next year in terms of product evolution? BK: TechTop will become a charging solution for all phones. There, I said it. I believe this will be the next big, pub- licly endorsed innovation to follow the footsteps of Bluetooth and WiFi. Once adapted, wireless charging technology will evolve very quickly. The next gen- eration TechTop will be compatible for larger devices with higher voltage such as laptops and tablets, and for surfaces as skinny as 3 cm. We are thrilled to be witnesses. HDSD: What was the most significant event or series of events affecting your company in the past year? EM: Luxury vinyl tile is really the hot prod- uct right now. First of all, it's beautiful. Our wood and tile visuals are second to none. Because of that, and the fact that we've been able to concentrate on increasing our portfolio and introducing new products such as LooseLay to meet industry needs, this has absolutely placed us on everybody's desktop as the go-to LVT manufacturer. HDSD: Are you introducing any new products? EM: We are introducing a number of new SKUs in January within our Art Select Stone category. There are going to be some incredible new visuals coming out. We're also introducing new products in our LooseLay range this fall. LooseLay has been a large growth cate- gory for us. It meets a lot of commercial needs, requires little or no adhesive, we have a large selection of colors and designs with the third wave of launches upcoming, and the time-savings with installations is amazing. HDSD: What products do you see as being hottest this year? EM: We feel that in the fall of 2014 into early 2015, the new stone products that we're coming out with will be very popular and meet the needs of the mar- ketplace. The realistic visuals and reg- istered embossing will elevate our already popular Art Select Stone range. I believe the new introductions in our Karndean Designflooring ( Cont'd. from p. 1) LooseLay floating floor is another hot commodity for the fall and upcoming year because of its beauty, easy instal- lation and performance. HDSD: What distinguishes your product from the competition? EM: Our LVT truly is a premium prod- uct. It has a tremendous wear layer, it has designflooring characteristics that you can use to customize your floor, such as design strips and borders, and the natural visuals such as registered embossing add beauty and elegance to the products. We offer a unique product that defies the fact that it's LVT. HDSD: To what do you attribute your company's success? EM: I believe our company's success comes from our compelling product. We listen to the A&D community to understand what their needs are, and we're fulfilling those specs with Karndean products that enable them to finish their projects with reliable and beautiful LVT.
