H o s p i t a l i t y & D e s i g n S h o w D a i l y 1 9 Tu e s d a y, J u n e 1 1 , 2 0 1 3 If changes in the regulatory require- ments are implemented, upholstered fur- niture manufacturers will be scrambling to learn how to make fire-safe furniture. Fire Barrier interliners have been used since 1991 to meet the California TB 133 requirements in public seating. While the new proposed regulatory requirements for all upholstered furniture may not be as difficult as CAL TB 133, barriers will very likely be a part of the solution. Preferred Finishing, Inc. has been Firewall Barriers (Cont'd. from p. 1) manufacturing fire barrier interliners in South Carolina since 1991. The company offers a wide range of barriers proven to be among the most effective in the indus- try. Stop by Booth 8-1116 to see the FIREWALL© family of products includ- ing the "green" solutions to making more fire-safe furniture. Ask about the newest solution, Firewall Foam. For more information, visit booth 8-1116 at Neocon, go online to www.firewallbar- riers.com, call 864-839-9432 or email kyle.bullock@firewallbarriers.com. available in stainless steel metal bases, polished or brushed. Table tops are available in stone, glass, wood or solid surface materials as standard. Optional heights, top shapes and sizes are also available. The quality of Martin Brattrud's upholstery and attention to detail is easi- ly observed when viewing this multi- dimensional form. The craftsmanship of the soft seating surrounded by the sculp- tural shell bring The Fold Collection from concept to reality in a striking exe- cution of form and function. Martin Brattrud (Cont'd. from p. 1) The decision to use stainless steel rather than chrome was based upon the usage of more environmentally sensi- tive materials. All interior wood fram- ing is made from sustainably harvested hard woods. All Martin Brattrud seat- ing is made in accordance with the California Bureau of Home Furnishings Bulletin #117. HDSD: Are you introducing any new products? JM: At NeoCon, Light Corp will be unveiling several new products including a double and a single-arm desktop per- sonal LED task light, a single-arm ver- sion of last year's award-winning Voyage LED Personal Task Light, and new length, wattage and output versions of last year's Best of NeoCon nominee, Reed Premier, a linear LED under-cabi- net task light. All new products by Light Corporation this year will feature pre- mier functionality, performance and fea- ture sets that incorporate energy efficient mechanics like soft-touch dimming, automatic turn-off and occupancy sensor options to ensure that electricity is only used when necessary. HDSD: What products do you see as being hottest this year? JM: I can't play favorites, but our new Light Corporation (Cont'd. from p. 1) product lines will be very well received. I feel our company knows the competi- tive landscape and what our customers are looking for. Our engineers work dili- gently with sales to develop products with premium light output and ergonom- ic functionality that our customers demand and that fit into the marketplace at desirable price points. We know light- ing, and we do our research to continual- ly bring state-of-the-art lighting solutions to market. HDSD: To what do you attribute your company's success? JM: Our people play a huge part in our success. For years, our customer service team has been a pleasure to work with, and they work hard to ensure that our customers are thrilled. Our people make our organization what it is today, and they deserve the credit for our success. HDSD: How can our readers find out more about your company? JM: To find out more about Light Corporation, come see our booth 8062 at NeoCon on the seventh floor of the Merchandise Mart in Chicago. Visit www.lightcorp.com or call 616-842- 5100 now. DCH: These two words were chosen very carefully to represent the two very different disciplines we bring together. To design is to create. This is a powerful word and represents our capabilities from a design, development, and strategic planning perspective. Iterative is defined as a successfully repeated process or pro- cedure and combined our name means "the repetitive process of successful cre- ation." From design to production and implementation, this describes exactly what we do every day. HDSD: What makes you different? DCH: There are few firms, agencies or corporations that are capable of deliver- ing both design and production services. We are one of the few. We also practice an integrated process delivery business model and enjoy collaborating with other best-in-class firms to deliver comprehen- sive turnkey solutions. Lastly, we prac- tice the emerging discipline of environ- mental graphic design that bridges the gaps between the architectural world and brand agency world. HDSD: What is changing about the way service retailers are doing business? DCH: Technology and social media are designiterative (Cont'd. from p. 1) changing our world and the dynamics of delivering business rapidly. These advances open up alternate channels to service customers that both improve the experience and provide the opportunity to streamline the business. Managing a multi-channel experience and iterative business models will become an ongoing challenge of the modern-day service provider. HDSD: What impact is digital messag- ing having on the physical in-store expe- rience? DCH: Digital messaging is not going to replace static messaging; however, it is redefining it. Harnessing the full potential of both starts with experience mapping and a retail communication strategy. This type of strategic planning provides insight into customer behav- ior and those key moments when cus- tomers are looking for information or open to receiving communications. With a firm understanding of that expe- rience, we can start to define primary brand features and orchestrate a brand- ed visual environment. HDSD: What are the applications for SoftEtch? PA: There are three effects that can be added to our SoftEtch family of prod- ucts. The first effect called SoftEtch Colour, allows us to apply any color imaginable to the back of the glass. We offer select etched patterns in the glass through our SoftEtch Pattern product line and can also apply a mirror effect which is our SoftEtch Mirror product line. A few of the best-selling SoftEtch products are offered in bronze and gray tinted glass. We fabricate all of our glass which allows us to offer custom solutions. Many of our clients use our products in their interior office environments. A few of the products used are custom confer- ence table tops, drawer facings, privacy panels and even sliding systems. HDSD: Are there any other applications or uses for SoftEtch? PA: Absolutely. SoftEtch can also be used as doors, tops for desks or when paired with our LED lighting solu- tions, make for a very eye catching EFI (Cont'd. from p. 1) lighted shelf. HDSD: Any other products that you'll be talking about at NeoCon? PA: We will also be displaying our glass magnetic marker boards. Even though this is clear glass, we can still apply the same technique as our SoftEtch Colour brand to achieve any color imaginable. In addition to traditional marker board applications where the unit hangs on a wall, EFI marries the glass to an alu- minum frame which allows it to be used in many other applications such as panels in sliding systems or as integrated parti- tions in office furniture or collaborative workspaces. HDSD: What else do we need to know? PA: We accept orders in any quantity. Normal lead time is two weeks from order to delivery, although we're expect- ing that to decrease later this year since we are currently training on new equip- ment that should make our process more efficient in time. HDSD: And how do our readers find you? PA: We're on the eighth floor at NeoCon in space 8-4073. After the show, visit www.efi-us.com or call 800-668-7080.
