C h a i n D r u g s t o r e D a i l y Tu e s d a y, A u g u s t 1 3 , 2 0 1 3 2 8 NEW PRODUCTS ADDED TO SURECOMFORT LINE Allison Medical continues to add new sizes and products to the SureComfort diabetic supplies line. Earlier this year, two additional sizes were added to the pen needle offering: the 30G x 8mm and 32G x 6mm, making it one of most extensive pen needle offerings on the market. SureComfort pen nee- dles were also made available in 50- count packaging in certain sizes. The newest size to be added to the line is the SureComfort Micron (32G x 4mm). As the thinnest gauge and shortest needle currently available on the market, the Micron rounds out the SureComfort pen needle offering. Company President Lance Ferrin explains, "With the continued growth in the pen needle category, we are focused on providing all the pen nee- dle sizes the consumer demands." This year also saw the introduction of a new SureComfort safety lancet line. With the increased awareness of needle safety for both patients and health care professionals, safety products continue to be a grow- ing and necessary segment of the market. The new SureComfort safety lancet line is available in four gauges, rang- ing from 18G to 30G, with a pressure activated, single use, retractable needle. The SureComfort safety lancets offer a convenient, easy and safe blood sampling option. "Our goal is to continue to add rele- vant diabetic products to the SureComfort line," Ferrin said. "We will continue to look for additions that make sense for our customers and our retail partners." In addition to the SureComfort line, Allison Medical also manufactures a full line of general syringes, veterinary syringes, blood collec- tion needles, stoppers and closures, and disease control prod- ucts. CLINICAL STUDIES CONFIRM EFFECTIVENESS OF NATURAL CINSULIN INGREDIENT FOR BLOOD SUGAR MANAGEMENT Common cinnamon has a long history of traditional use amongst people who seek natural alternatives to manage blood sugar levels and to promote sugar metab- olism. However, common cinnamon has been known to cause unwanted side effects when taken in large quantities over long periods of time. Now there's a natural and clinically- proven ingredient to manage blood sugar levels and help metabolize sugar without the unwanted side effects. CinSulin ® is a natural and clinically- proven ingredient for managing blood sugar levels (within the normal range). It is the purest, safest, and most highly-con- centrated form of dietary cinnamon available. CinSulin is the active ingredi- ent in the CinSulin Water Extract of Cinnamon line of dietary supplements. Unlike common cinnamon, CinSulin uses a patented water extraction process to gently separate and concentrate the health-supporting water-soluble com- pounds that naturally occur in the cinnamon plant and large- ly remove the unwanted fat- soluble compounds. The end result is a highly concentrated extract that is 10 times more potent and significantly safer than common cinnamon. What this means is that it would take at least 10 common cinnamon capsules (500 mg per capsule) to produce the same health-sup- porting benefits of just two CinSulin Water Extract of Cinnamon capsules (250 mg per capsule). Proven in five double-blind, place- bo-controlled, human clinical studies, CinSulin is the preferred natural cinna- mon ingredient amongst health care pro- fessionals. CinSulin Water Extract of Cinnamon contains only what you want, and nothing you don't want. Products are free of gluten, wheat, sugar, lactose, milk, fish, common aller- gens, artificial flavors and colors, and cen- tral nervous system stimulants. Available in four formulas that sup- port healthy blood sugar levels, CinSulin Water Extract of Cinnamon is marketed in fine food, drug, mass and club retailers nationwide. These statements have not been evaluat- ed by the Food and Drug Administration. These products are not intended to diag- nose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. RXTOUCH HOLISTIC COMMUNICATION SOLUTION DRIVES COMPLIANCE In recent years, the practice of pharmacy has changed. Profit per script has been reduced with the expansion of generic drugs in what surmounts to be the first wave off the industry patent cliff. PBM's have successfully proliferated closed and limited networks which force retail phar- macies to accept lower margins in exchange for access to patient lives. In many parts of the country, the economy has impacted patient's day-to-day deci- sions. Some even have to choose between medication and food on the table! With all of the forces working against profit in retail pharmacy, why not seek solutions that have proven to gener- ate profit? MarkeTouch has developed the RxTouch service line to, specifically, increase revenue, efficiency and patient satisfaction which results in higher prof- itability for its clients. In fact, the out- bound notification service has, on aver- age, reduced clients return to stock rates by 40 percent which results in a $600,000-plus increase in profitability per 1 million prescriptions filled. Additionally, by automating day-to-day patient communications with RxTouch, including medication changes and third- party conflicts, pharmacies have reduced their inbound call volume by an average of 35 percent and increased re-fills by 8 percent. All of these metrics result in measurable dollars that flow to the bot- tom line. The hosted solution works with all pharmacy operating systems and can be configured to meet spe- cific client goals. RxTouch offers cutting edge tech- nology to move pharmacy into the next generation of pharmacy connectivity by providing traditional automated out- bound tools as well as Pharmacist Connect. Pharmacist Connect works to enable personal connection with pharma- cy staff and patients and can be config- ured for use either at the store level or within a call center. MarkeTouch clients have used these tools to bring a hybrid high touch communication platform to their patients, thus enabling them to move pharmacy away from dispensing and into a true healthcare provider role. MarkeTouch provides the technology that allows clients to decide how much patient communication to automate and also enables clients to customize communi- cation to the patients across many different mediums, including phone calls, text mes- saging, and email. The solutions provide a holistic solution that facilitates both high and low touch solutions that make it easy for clients to adapt to the needs of specific patient populations. The hosted RxTouch solution streamlines operations within the phar- macy and gives patients options for their personal communicatiscribed medication regimen can be achieved, which can bring down overall healthcare costs and ultimately deliver better clinical out- comes for the patients.
