Consumer Electronics Daily News 3 7 Friday, January 12, 2018 2018 Best of Show MingFeng Expands Operations, Introduces New Material By Aaron Thom, Senior Designer, MingFeng Packaging (USA), Inc. Recently, MingFeng Packaging has expanded operations in Dongguan, China by moving into a brand- new 230,000 square-meter industrial park facility. We have also introduced a new and exciting biomass com- posite material to the high- end packaging and display market. Bamboo plastic com- posite is the latest member to join the family of envi- ronmentally friendly mate- rials. Bamboo powder, PE/PP plastic and a processing agent are mixed together to form a green bamboo plastic material. It is very strong and durable. Bamboo plastic is UV resistant as well as waterproof. It is also antibac- terial and non-toxic. Bamboo plastic can be beautifully molded into a box or display by methods of injection, compression and extrusion. It can also be used to make other, much larger products like furniture or building materials, such as decks and patios. During the CES show, we have many custom-made boxes on hand. MingFeng has manufactured high-quali- ty packaging for a variety of industries including, but not limited to, jewelry, numismatic, cosmetic, confec- tion, electronic, beverage and cigar. We believe that a great looking package is well repre- sented by the outstanding prod- uct that is placed inside of it. MingFeng has achieved the high- est level of certifications for quality and environmentally safe work places. ISO9001, SEDEX and FSC are among the impor- tant few. We have been in the packag- ing business for over 29 years and would love to share some of our knowledge and ideas with you. Stop by our booth #40366, located in the Sands - Halls A-D to review some of our custom-made packaging. CV Squared: A Connected Vehicles Solution with Computer Vision Metadata Analytics Team Research and CV Squared have been developing innovative connected vehicle applications that not only ensure driving safety but also will open up new opportunities of social commerce and targeted advertise- ments. Its CV 2 solution makes full use of the video metadata generated by the video analysis module running on in- vehicle devices, called CV 2 :Vu, and engages the cloud-based data analytics engine to extract valuable behavioral patterns of drivers on both an individ- ual basis and, notably, on a collective level. Video captured by on-board cam- eras is analyzed and annotated in real time by the video analysis module that implements a series of computer vision algorithms. The types of metadata sought by the video analysis module include the vehicle's location and orien- tation in relation to lane markings, the dynamically changing physiological characteristics of driver's behavior and the nature and movement of nearby vehicles and objects, among others. The continuous stream of such metadata, along with synchronized vehicle telem- atics/GPS data, is ingested into the cloud for interactive and/or batch analy- ses. The cloud-based data analytics engine utilizes a set of machine learning tools to train and validate the mod- els designed to predict spe- cific risks and behavioral patterns of drivers. These models, continually refined and updated, play the key role in the intelligent safety alert and driver collabora- tive engagement application modules that run on the in-vehicle platforms. The CV 2 solution will be viewed by fleet operators and logistics service providers as a significant improvement over traditional telematics/GPS servic- es for its capability to provide richer and more relevant information that can help reduce the risks of costly acci- dents in a truly effective way. Insurance companies would also see the benefits derived from the dynamic intel- ligent risk models put forth by the CV 2 solu- tion. While the immedi- ate value of the CV 2 solution lies in the enhancement of driving safety, its greater poten- tial could be found in its ability to analyze drivers' behavioral patterns and leverage them to open up new opportunities of social commerce and precise advertisements. CV Squared is a development stage company based in San Jose, California. For more information, stop by Central Hall booth #18424 or go to www.team researchinc.com.
