"RightEye is transform- ing health and vision care by giving doc- tors and coaches a better way to see how our eyes and brain are working together. This solution is unique because it offers a single platform that delivers a broad range of assessments using eye tracking, from screening for concussion and other brain health issues to identification of athletes' vision strengths and weaknesses to detection of early indicators for autism and Parkinson's disease, even flagging vision issues that may be impeding read- ing. As we keep developing and adding new tests and training games, this list will continue to grow." The new RightEye system will deliver the company's revolutionary vision tests and training games, which are designed as highly interactive com- puter games that engage users, who use their eyes to shoot down asteroids, save the planet from aliens and blast bubbles off the screen. The eye-movement data obtained through the games is analyzed instantly by RightEye's proprietary cloud-based software, which generates a report following the test or training activ- ity. RightEye reports include details such as visual speed and accuracy, visual pro- cessing, depth perception and dry-eye indicators. "At Tobii, a core part of our mission has always been to allow our customers to use eye tracking to improve the lives of people around the world. For more than a decade, we have served academic researchers with tools contributing to pioneering breakthroughs, and we have helped users of all ages communicate through our own eye-control solutions," said Henrik Eskilsson, Chief Executive Officer of Tobii. "As a technology sup- plier, we also collaborate with companies in a broad range of specialized markets such as medical and diagnostics. We are very excited about the opportunity to expand the use of eye tracking into vision care and sports through the collaboration with RightEye." Whisker Labs Named CES 2018 Innovation Awards Honoree Whisker Labs, developer of advanced home intelligence technologies, has been named a CES 2018 Innovation Awards Honoree for its Home Energy Monitoring Sensor. Products entered in this presti- gious program are judged by a preemi- nent panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers and members of the trade media to honor out- standing design and engineering in cut- ting edge consumer electronics products across 28 product categories. Whisker Labs' breakthrough home energy monitoring sensor and home intel- ligence software platform deliver real- time power usage and diagnostic informa- tion for HVACs and home appliances to provide customers with performance deterioration trends and predictive insights on imminent failures. Home service providers can offer these capabil- ities to consumers through Whisker Labs' ASSURE– a scalable residential HVAC service that increases customer satisfac- tion, improves brand awareness through systematic engagement, and reduces home service providers' operational costs. In selecting Whisker Labs as an award honoree, the Consumer Technology Association recognized its introduction of the first ever whole-home energy sensing device that does not require an electrician for installation. The phone-sized sensor installs quickly and safely on the electrical panel/breaker box that connects to the consumer's Wi-Fi, so that data can be turned into information and alerts on HVAC and subsequently, all major home appliances. "99 percent of appliances and devices in the home are not connected, which means that households have no way of knowing if their HVAC or other home appliances are ailing or failing," said Amena Ali, Chief Revenue Officer, Whisker Labs. "Through the real-time data from our Energy Sensor and soft- ware analytics that identify the electrical signature of each HVAC system, we track and analyze performance and look for impending faults, so our home service partners can deliver unmatched assur- ance to their consumers. Our service will become the check-engine light for HVAC and other critical home appliances." The prestigious CES Innovation Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)™, the owner and producer of CES 2018, the global gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technolo- gies, and have been recognizing achieve- ments in product design and engineering since 1976. Products chosen as CES Innovation Honorees reflect innovative design and engineering in some of the most cutting edge tech products and services coming to market. The Fitness Tracker for Your Ears, Oticon's HearingFitness App, Wins CES Award Oticon HearingFitness™, the first hear- ing aid app dedicated to hearing fitness, won a CES Innovation Award in the Software and Mobile Apps category. Just like an exercise tracker, HearingFitness monitors the wearer's "hearing fitness" – the impact of hearing on their overall health – and provides advice and encouragement that helps the wearer hear better and stay healthy. With hearing loss ranking as the third most common chronic health issue in the U.S., one affect- ing more than 48 million Americans, closer attention to hearing health can reduce the risk of other ailments, including dementia. The Oticon HearingFitness app is used in conjunction with Oticon Opn™ internet- connected hearing aids, and tracks hearing aid use, listening environments and other behavior, collating the data with measure- ments of heart rate, sleep patterns and other health markers from other wearable devices to give hearing aid users advice and encouragement on ways to hear better, pro- tect their hearing and stay healthy. "The HearingFitness app helps peo- ple with hearing loss understand how their behavior and hearing health habits can influence how effective their treatment is," said Don Schum, PhD, Vice President of Audiology at Oticon. "Hearing plays a huge role in people's overall health and well-being, and HearingFitness, paired with Opn, encourages routine use of hear- ing aids to improve hearing and the ability to engage in social settings." A growing body of evidence indi- cates the benefits of maintaining hearing health. Most recently, a July 2017 study on dementia prevention, interven- tion and care has concluded that, from midlife, hearing loss (and the social iso- lation it often causes) is the biggest risk factor in later development of dementia. HearingFitness depends on three ele- ments: Oticon Opn hearing aids analyze sound environments, measure and track hearing aid use, and export recorded data to the Oticon HearingFitness app for fur- ther analysis. The Oticon HearingFitness app receives data from Oticon Opn hearing aids and analyzes current sound environ- ments, listening effort, total daily hearing aid use and historical usage data. Based on actual use and relevant user feedback, the app helps users optimize use of their hearing aids. Back-end analytics will evaluate anonymized user data for insights involv- ing general health, lifestyle and social dependencies to guide users toward healthier habits. "HearingFitness empowers users to learn about their hearing and take charge of their long-term health and well-being through their hearing habits," said Schum. "They gain a sense of belonging to a new generation that's on top of their hearing and health, instead of being defined by it. But most importantly, HearingFitness encourages users to wear their hearing aids more and helps generate data that will lead to better hearing care and, ultimately, better and more rewarding lives." About Oticon Oticon is one of the most innovative hear- ing device manufacturers with more than 110 years of experience putting the needs of people with hearing loss first. Oticon has spearheaded a number of technological breakthroughs, which have made a signifi- cant difference for people with hearing loss. Oticon's "brain first" audiological focus recognizes that speech understand- ing and comprehension are cognitive processes that happen in the brain. Oticon's innovative BrainHearing™ tech- nology is helping to provide better hearing with less effort by giving the brain the clearest, purest sound signals to decode.
