Magnation Water Technology leads the way with innovative chemical- free water softening treatment, improv- ing water productivity by using 20 per- cent less water to produce more and bet- ter quality food. Magnation mimics nature by apply- ing principles of physics to moving water. A water molecule's potential is achieved by invigorating electrons through a specially engineered magnetic field … better electrons, essentially. This process transforms the water structure into a superior, life-giving water that embodies the qualities and unique effec- tiveness of rain. By improving your water quality, water is also stretched. Less is needed to do more. Why? When irrigation water passes through Magnation's proprietary magnetic field, a process termed "hydro- dynamic magnetic resonance" (HDMR) is applied. Its molecular structure is bro- ken down into smaller, more bioavailable clusters, allowing a greater amount of oxygen and nutrients to infiltrate the soil and root zone. Magnation's softened, rainlike water easily penetrates soil, spreads across a wider area of ground, helps soil retain moisture, stimulates soil nutrients and enhances plant growth, reducing irriga- tion requirements by 20 percent – with zero added chemicals – while boosting plant vigor and yields. Magnation helps mitigate all problems associated with hard water, and other water quality and soil health issues. Magnation Water Technologies (Cont'd. from p. 1) "Our results have been remarkable. Where we installed the Magnation unit, the corn out-yielded our other irrigated corn but used 30 percent less irrigation water. The corn was 11 percent better than that fields' previous best yield, there was noticeably better uniformity across the sprinklers on the pivot, and our pumping costs were lower," said Lee Fintel, Superior, Nebraska. "There was a night and day differ- ence where we have the calcium issues. We're also seeing better water infiltration and moisture retention. Our soils are mel- lower and our trees look healthier in comparison to where we use sulfuric acid. I did a side by side test with Magnation's water system on one micro- sprinkler system and three gallons per hour of sulfuric acid on the other. The moisture probe showed deeper absorp- tion with Magnation. The tree leaves had better color and less tip burn than I'd seen in 30 years," said Robert Jones, Fresno, California. Intelligent irrigation with Magnation is a cornerstone for furthering food secu- rity – sustainably and efficiently. Its sys- tems are chemical-free, energy-free and maintenance-free, with a fast ROI and the benefits returning season after season. Thousands of farmers around the world use Magnation to grow more crops with less water. You can find testimonials in the Rave Reviews section at www.rainlikewater.com. This year's entry includes three varieties of organic, raw, probiotic-rich kom- buchas. It chose the Greek word zoetic, which means "pertaining to life." It per- fectly represents the nature of kombucha – a living culture that promotes health and well-being. Why Bing Z? It's the Kombucha for Everyone The retail community has been request- ing interesting, organic, delicious prod- ucts that appeal to a wide audience. While there are numerous kombucha products on the market, there is still a demand for more 'drinkable' and tasty kombucha. The goal when designing Bing Z was to create a flavorful, organic kom- bucha that would please mainstream cus- tomers and bring them to your kombucha set – many for the first time. Bing Beverage blends traditional raw kombucha with delectable organic fruit juices to create a "flavor-forward" taste that will appeal to a very broad audience – especially those who are new to the category or those who previously may have been averse to the taste of other kom- bucha products. Bing Z will bring incremental consumers to the natural beverage set – consumers will appreciate the completely new inter- pretation of this healthy, probiotic bever- age. Success in the Marketplace Since 2006 Beginning in 2006, Bing has captivated consumers with bold fruit juice-based beverages. Its recipe for success is to help create the perfect selling environ- ment for its products. Bing's knowledge- able team brings a wealth of experience when it comes to pro- duction, wholesale and retail in produce, natu- ral and grocery depart- ments. It will continue to provide outstanding support to make Bing Z a new favorite for your customers through effective and frequent pricing promotions, engaging displays and marketing materials. In addition, Bing will deliver robust support for prod- uct samplings, community events, spon- sorships and more to help drive con- sumers to your marketplace. PSD: When is the best time to buy Driscoll's organic raspberries? CS: At Driscoll's, we've been engaged in a decades-long pursuit of offering a con- sistent supply of our full berry patch. With advances such as substrate growing systems where we're able to grow rasp- berries in pots and have greater control over their environment, we believe we will be able to improve the reliability of our organic raspberry supply year-round. But we've got work to do, and the fact is that there are still peaks of supply during fall and late spring. So the good news is that right now is an excellent time for retailers to take advantage of a great tast- ing premium offering. PSD: With nearly 90 percent market share of organic raspberries, if you've ever eaten an organic raspberry, chances are it was Driscoll's. Nevertheless, there continues to be unmet demand for organ- ic raspberries. Why does supply for this category lag behind demand? CS: Farming organic raspberries is a commitment. There are many factors that need to align in order to create the best quality organic raspberries. Raspberries require the right geography, and our independent growers have found the few small pockets where rasp- berries – both organic and conventional- ly grown – truly flourish. Moreover, to grow organic raspberries, the grower needs the right piece of land – and more of it for an appropriate soil rotation; the right soil pro- file; the right inputs; and a level of expertise that few possess. PSD: What are some of the factors that go into the price premium to grow organic raspberries? CS: As a rule, organic growers tend to spend more money on inputs for lower outputs relative to their conventional counterparts. Organic production of semi-perennial crops such as raspberries need a trifecta of well-drained soil, a bal- anced soil environment, and high quality water to achieve the best output. Organic growers typically see lower yields, which translate into lower fruit density on the plant. Because every raspberry is hand- picked, harvesters have increased walk- ing time to find the berries. PSD: Tell our readers more about Driscoll's commitment to remain the organic market leader. CS: Driscoll's plans to increase the overall share of our business that organ- ics represent primarily because that's where consumer demand is. But at Driscoll's, part of our vision statement is to enrich the lives of every- one we touch, from the consumer to the laborers who plant and harvest the fruit, to the communities in which we do busi- ness. So as we have learned that employ- ees often have a preference for the work environment that organic ranches offer, we feel it's very much in line with our long-term vision to invest meaningfully in the growth of our organic category.
