Aftermarket Daily News 7 7 Wednesday, November 2, 2016 Award-winning Thread Wizard. Let's take a look at the man and his revolu- tionary new tool that is set to change how the industry handles dirty bolts. In his 43 years as a Master Mechanic, Gary has worked for major motor compa- nies, and eventually opened his own shop. In his years of diligent work, he has seen more than a few dirty bolts, and like most technicians, he has struggled with the conventional methods of cleaning them. Unhappy with the hassles of soaking time, storing and disposing of solvents and not willing to accept the sub-standard results of a wire brush, Gary was using a wire wheel on a bench grinder to clean a grimy bolt. In the middle of cleaning the bolt, the wire wheel grabbed and launched it towards him. While it wasn't the first bolt Gary had shot at him, he vowed it would be the last. He immedi- ately sat down to engineer a proper solu- tion. His labor culminated in the Thread Wizard, the revolutionary bolt cleaner that provides a safe and fast way to clean bolts, increasing repair speed while elim- inating the need to replace bolts. While the Thread Wizard is a unique and industry changing innovation, Gary pointed out how simple the tool is. Housed in a highly durable ABS plastic handle which is shaped to be handheld or Thread Wizard (Cont'd. from p. 1) clamped in a vise, a carbon steel wire wheel of the highest quality protrudes into size specific holes surrounding the wheel. When a bolt is matched to the appropriate hole and turned through the Thread Wizard with hand or power tools appropriate for the bolt, the wire wheel removes all grime, dirt, surface rust, adhesives and fouling. Why move bris- tles around the bolt when the bolt is already designed to rotate? Let the inher- ent design of the bolt do the work for you. Offered in both standard (SAE) and metric sizes, the Thread Wizard fits the needs of mechanics, service profession- als and home hobbyists. Gary is especially proud that the Thread Wizard is 100 percent sourced and manufactured in the U.S.A. Whether in a work setting, being used around the house or in the field, the Thread Wizard allows those working with bolts to clean them immediately and thoroughly with- out down time or added safety risks. When the time comes to reinstall the bolts, it can be done properly and without needless bolt replacement, saving both time and money. Secondly, the flywheel also helps to deliver rotational and torsional stability and balance to the engine's rotating assembly (crank, rods, pistons, etc.) in order to help the engine run smoother and reduce wear. Billet aluminum flywheels are designed to be much stronger than OE cast iron flywheels, but their lower weight will provide significant perform- ance benefits by delivering faster throttle response, quicker acceleration, smoother shifting, and easier vehicle braking. Billet aluminum flywheel will provide a more responsive and "nimble" driving experience over vehicles equipped with heavy iron or steel flywheels. In addition, aluminum flywheels are much better at dissipating heat from your clutch, which can greatly improve clutch performance and life whether it's a factory style clutch disc or performance disc. All of Fidanza flywheels, whether made from aluminum or steel, are CAD designed/engineered and precision CNC machined from top quality billet forgings to strict tolerances for optimum perform- ance and reliability. All of the flywheels are balanced and thoroughly inspected for quality and fitment. Most are designed as a direct replacement for the OE units and do not require any modifi- cations to be used. The company also designs its flywheels as a multi-piece Fidanza (Cont'd. from p. 1) unit, allowing them to be completely serviceable by either the consumer or its in-house technical department. With the replaceable friction surface, you never have to resurface the flywheel, giving it an almost infinite lifespan. Simply replace the friction plate when replacing the clutch and the flywheel is like new again. It also uses a separate starter ring gear, allowing it to be replaceable if dam- ages were ever to occur from a failed starter or pinion gear. During the design process of the alu- minum flywheels, it figures in a reduc- tion of roughly 40 to 60 percent in weight over the OEM unit. This figure will help to deliver faster throttle response, free up horsepower that the engine is already producing, all while maintaining com- fortable driving habits. If too much weight is removed, adverse affects can happen like higher RPMs are needed to begin moving the car, idle changes and possible stalling, or even OBD sensor issues, causing the dreaded check engine light. Once designed and production begins, all of the flywheels are produced using the highest quality materials from the raw materials to the CNC machines they are being produced on. Only after the prototype products and real world testing is complete will it have a final product ready for consumer usage.
